This spacious villa is situated in its own private grounds of about 12 acres on the site of an old farm. It is a magical spot that has all amenities within a few minutes drive and is only about 20 minutes from the popular resorts of Alvor, Portimao and Praia da Rocha. It is very close to the enchanting spa village of Caldas de Monchique, famous for its volcanic spa water and where you will find a huge open air bread oven where most mornings you can sample the hot fresh bread rolls with chouriço sausage baked in them or take stroll along one of the sub-tropical trails.
The Villa has its own mature garden with palm trees and numerous Mediterranean plants whose flowers attract many butterflies and birds. A large number of Mimosa trees grow nearby and a rustic path takes you down to the small river with its bridge over to a nice woodland walk and riverside path, Steps lead up to a small field that is usually cultivated with corn and a path past citrus groves leads to the mountain and forest walks beyond.
It is in a very idyllic and secluded spot with practically the whole of the mountain view directly in front of the house is within its own land and it is easy to imagine you are miles away from anywhere or anyone, yet it is not at all remote. Only 200 yards away there are two good restaurants and within walking distance there is another restaurant and two pottery shops.
Outside or by the pool on clear nights, the stars twinkle so brightly in the dark sky it is almost like a firework display and if you have some binoculars you will see the true beauty of the heavens.
The villa has 4 bedrooms, 2 with en-suite facilities and two sharing a spacious bathroom. There is a fourth bathroom on the ground floor which has a hydrotherapy shower enclosure with numerous jets, sprays, LED lighting and a radio. Three of the bedrooms have balconies one of these being a very large one overlooking the pool. Downstairs, the living room is a huge open plan room with sofas and armchairs for up to 10 people, a wood burning stove for winter and a 55" smart TV with satellite and cable programmes as well as as Blu-Ray DVD player and WiFi for the fibre internet connection. French doors lead outside to a patio and the garden. There is a separate dining room which is light and airy and with more French doors to another patio and the pool area beyond. The large fully fitted Kitchen also has a door to the same patio and parking area. It has marble worktops, an electric fan oven and induction hob, Fridge freezer, dishwasher etc. There is a laundry room off the kitchen with the washing machine, ironing board and the maids equipment.
If you enjoy walking, the footpaths leading from the property through the mimosa trees and riverside will lead you up to the hills and trails of the Monchique eco zone. This was the location of a huge forest fire a few years ago, but fresh growth is quickly becoming established and thousands of new trees have been planted.
About 20 minutes drive takes you to the beaches at Praia da Rocha, Priaia da Vau and Alvor and it is a similar distance to several golf courses, with the Morgado Golf courses only about 12km away. Less than 30 minutes will take you to many other beautiful beaches between Carvoeiro, Ferragudo, and Lagos. If motor sports interest you, there is the huge international autodrome where the 2020 Portuguese F1 Grand Prix was held and motor racing at all levels as well as motor bike racing and all sizes of go-karting takes place. Fast driving experiences are available there to suit most pockets, either on the main tracks in a Porsche or similar car or on the go-cart tracks. Alternatively, a short way from Quinta da Mimosa is a buggy rental facility that does self drive buggy tours over the various mountain trails.
For shopping, the large fishing port of Portimao is only about 15 minutes away and it has the superb modern, Aqua shopping mall with plenty of free parking and a large food court on the roof terrace where there is free WiFi and sometimes, evening entertainment. Otherwise, try exploring the narrow streets of the old town or relax at a bar or coffee shop on the historic waterfront. Buses stop by the villa gates for Monchique or to Portimao and easy onward connections to the beaches, but a car makes it far easier if you really want to explore this wonderful part of the Algarve and there is plenty of parking space in front of the villa.
