Spring break in PDX
Our family spent spring break week in Portland. Although the spring rains were in force, our VRBO was within walking distance of good restaurants, public transportation, and beautiful Mt. Tabor Park. The property was comfortable, clean and cozy for our stay.

Excellent property in a great neighborhood close to many, many great businesses and peaceful Mt. Tabor. Had a disappointing experience checking in, but once we were in we enjoyed the place.

Adorable Portland craftsman!
We loved our stay in Portland. The cute house (with everything you need - even blueberries growing out front!) is in a great location -- very close to excellent restaurants (Tabor Bread! Apizza Scholl!) and thrifting AND about a 18-minute walk from Mount Tabor Park, which is lovely and nature-y and has great views! Can't wait to come back.

This little Craftsman House is absolutely adorable and so full of charm! We were close to so many places to eat in a quaint and trendy part of town. Jodi was a great host and kept in contact with us regarding our stay. I would totally recommend this house to anyone and we would stay again when we come back to Portland. Jodi, thank you so much for sharing your house with us! We really appreciate the hospitality. Kris and Mark

Loved it! Could not have asked for anything better! The house is beautiful and we loved the neighborhood. We were able to walk anywhere for coffee, lunch, dinner, and drinks. We also walked to and hiked around Mt. Tabor. Jodi is a wonderful host too! Very attentive to any needs we might have. Great, interesting decor too. Wonderful place to stay while for our friend’s wedding! Highly recommend!

Very comfortable. Plenty of space for my husband and me and our 2 adult children. Well equipped kitchen with every option you might consider for making a good cup of coffee. Parking was never a problem. Several good casual eateries nearby as well as a good grocery store that served us well for breakfast provisions.

Month long stay!
I stayed here for a month in September when our daughter had our first grandchild...it was perfect for my needs which were a place for myself and my husband, and extra rooms for family who were popping in and out to visit our new grandson. Location was 5 minutes from their home, and right around the corner from Hawthorne which has many restaurants and night life, and a quick mile walk to Mt Tabor for a safe place to get some exercise. The neighborhood always felt safe even when I stayed alone for a couple weeks, and the next door neighbor was a sweetheart and it felt like we became friends. Staying that long there were some questions that came up, and my host was super quick to get back to me with answers or a solution. Parking was really never a problem even though there is no driveway, I almost always was able to park right in front of the house. I would definitely stay here again and plan to when I will be in town visiting for more than a few days.

Home away from home
We stayed in this lovely house over the Thanksgiving holiday. The neighborhood was great and we could easily walk to the grocery store. The beds were very comfortable--even the pull out bed in the study was great. We were able to cook a turkey in the oven. We were very comfortable in this home and even hosted some of our local friends who live in the Portland area. We plan on coming back for another stay soon. We were not able to park in the driveway because our hitch bottomed out but our sons small car had no trouble. We just parked on the street and it was not a problem. We appreciated the coffee and spices and the bar. We left some bourbon for the next guests and enjoyed some Gin that was already there.

Great House, Great Spot!
Jodi has really created a great space! Well decorated, cared for, thoughtfully supplied with all that you could need and great spaces to relax in - both inside and out! This house comfortably slept my husband and I and two teenagers. The owner provided great information both on the app and at the house in terms of places to eat, and visit, as well as wonderful gift of coffee! I also appreciated Jodi's quick response to emails and texts as we were planning our trip. From a location point of view - this was a fabulous spot to be! Division Street is home to great restaurants - many of which are outside your door - across the street and down the street either way. Close choices were a french patisserie, a "food pod", Stumptown coffee, etc. You can walk to many locations and easily drive anywhere. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay on your next trip to Portland you won't be sorry!

Summer fun in Portland area
My family of four (two kids, 11 and 15) stayed here for one week at the end of July. The weather was absolutely perfect. We had some concerns coming to Portland with all we had heard going on in the city, but this house is in a great location. The neighborhood and house are charming. If you like old houses with detail and character, look no further. It is well appointed and homey and is more spacious than it appears. The front porch is a delight to sit on anytime! Street parking is not hard to come by and the next door neighbor even offered us her parking spot when she went away for a few days. There are great restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries all within walking distance. We enjoyed Tabor Bakery, Never coffee, Por Que No and Apizza Scholl to name a few. Bites on Belmont is an outdoor collection of food trucks with some fun and different options. We used the house as a central place for day trips to the coast, Hood River area and Washington. It is a great location for this type of trip and most things are no more than 90 mins away. Highly recommend “Bike the Gorge” which is in Cascade Locks. We rented four bikes for two hours - it’s a beautiful paved bike path to ride through incredible forestry and a great hike to Wahclella Falls. We would definitely stay here again.

No place to sleep
Jodi, The 6-day stay at VRBO (638989) was not our typical experience...platform bed has not been a normal choice for primary sleeping due to height/lack of support on frame, chandelier had 1 working light (replacement bulbs did not help), use of portable heater tripped circuit breaker, water temperature in upstairs shower is too hot, basement steps with uneven raise & no safety railing, charcoal dumped over back porch, dangling upper eavestrough on front side of house. The reviews (27) you have listed are for two separate VRBO units, 638989 (Hawthorne) & 896045 (SE Division), oldest date 11/14. There are two separate issues: safety/maintenance and information/transparency. Please make the necessary changes and adjust our rental monies accordingly. This is not our first rental and it won't be our last. Many people have a vested interest in making this lodging system work: tourists/lodgers, property owners, VRBO, & the city of Portland. Regards, Diane

Charming Hourse in Great Location
Firstly, this is an older home with typical quirkiness in a great urban location. Shopping, restaurants, and public transit are just out the door, but Jodi's house is on a side street, with very little noise. It is VERY well stocked, with pretty much anything you might need. Rounding out the experience, Jodi is extremely responsive and accommodating. We stayed over Christmas in a epochal storm. The house was comfortable and cozy and the walkable access to shopping proved to be a real plus.

Beautiful home and great host
This was a great home in a great location - I loved that bars restaurants, and eateries were all within walking distance. The check-in process is super easy, checkout process is simple enough, kitchen is fully stocked, and the host is very responsive, chill, and accommodating (I love the take some, leave some concept when it comes to the food and drinks in the house). This may be one of the best vbros I've stayed in. Thanks Jodi for a wonderful stay.

Amazingly clean
I chose Jodi's place for being like a home-- decorations, books, etc. and it was amazing how clean it was. Also amazing was how very quiet it was at night compared to my own urban home. It's as though the neighborhood decided to be silent after 9 pm. We enjoyed sitting on the porch too, comfy. We did not meet or talk with Jodi-- she was several time zones away and gave us a neighbor's name and number. Jodi responded quickly when I contacted her to when we arrived. We enjoyed the Hawthorne neighborhood. Blew my mind: 40 vegan-friendly restaurants within 1 mile! We enjoyed several delicious meals at places within 2 blocks of Jodi's place. We stayed for 5 nights and street parking was easy to find.

About the host

Hosted by Jodi Jack

Host profile image
In 2002, I left Canada to travel the world as a documentary photographer. In 2008, I met a Portlander, and the love of my life while living in Abu Dhabi. In 2013, she convinced me to move to her home (this home) in Portland, Oregon. It was an amazing decision. I can't seem to get enough of the innovative food scene, creative culture, and natural beauty of Oregon.

Why they chose this property

It is a beautiful, quintessential Portland craftsman with all of the original character. The home is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished, because it is our home, is never thought of as "just a rental".

We recently renovated the bathroom in the downstairs master. Obviously I am biased, but I love everything about the bathroom- the shower, the dark gray unglazed porcelain hex floor tiles contrasting with white subway wall tiles, and of course the European industrial sink with Rejuvenation faucet. I had a lot of fun designing it, and I think it shows.

The bathroom isn't the only highlight, and not even necessarily the best highlight. It is just the newest highlight. The outdoor space is also awesome. The backyard space is great for relaxing. The front porch is great for people watching. There are 2 pear trees, strawberries, and plenty of herbs to enjoy all summer long.

The location is certainly top of the list for highlights though, as it is just off of Hawthorne making it both quiet and convenient.

What makes this property unique

The home is perfect for vacation, business travel or for those relocating to Portland.

You don't have to wait in line at ¿Por Que No? anymore. You can just call, pick it up, and it is on your front porch. Or you can wait. Your choice.

There is truly no better location if you want to experience all the best that SE Portland has to offer.

The wood-burning fireplace is amazing on a cold, winter's day.

In the home, you will find carefully selected furnishings and decor collected from our life and travels.
