About this property

8acres of privacy and beauty. Inspiring, Must See. Kayaking!-Sleeps up to 8

This is a very special gated, private 8 acre property that always gets 5 star rental reviews. The pics can't capture how special it is - guests have actually said "Can I just live here?" Our home is sited on a hill overlooking the pasture and the pecan orchard, with a view of tree-lined Berry Creek, leading to the San Gabriel river. Three bedrooms and a large private den with a Crate and Barrel queen sleeper sofa can sleep up to 8 (added fee for guests 7 and 8 - infants free - see rates button). Master bedroom has a queen, one guest room has twin beds, and the other guest room has a double. Sheets are line dried when weather allows for best fragrance and freshness! There are two separate dining areas, a kitchen bar seats 4, two living areas and a recently renovated real cook's kitchen. And fresh eggs daily from the organic hens. A huge master bath adjoins the master bedroom and the den, and a 3 piece bath serves the two guest rooms. And we are definitely dog friendly - this a dog Mecca!
The outdoor areas are outstanding with beautiful views of the water, and 'room to run' in the pecan orchard. A huge swing by the water is as peaceful as it gets. There are three kayaks for guest's use. An easy, lazy paddle is a real treat. Some guests catch plenty of bass! The water is for kayaking, but not suitable for swimming. BBQ pits and a picnic table are at the water, too. This is a fun place to hang out.
Up at the house is a giant natural stone patio with a Santa Maria-styled grill, outdoor fireplace and dining space for ten. A huge fire pit is also there for keeping warm in the winter. The back porch has a daybed and ceiling fans for lazy dozing or reading, and the backyard has a beautiful seating area for enjoying coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The massive front yard is great for bocce or croquet.
The large den is outfitted with a 42" HD flat screen.
The cozy living room has a 32' flat screen and a fireplace.
This property never, ever disappoints.

Week-long, Resort style family vacation during youth World Series baseball tournament for our son
We were lucky enough to find this incredible property in planning for the Ripken Legends World Series Tournament. Pattie was incredible and so welcoming, greeting us and our 2 Boxers. We were joined by my parents and aunt and uncle; we have amazing memories - playing whiffle ball in the sprawling front lawn, cooking our meals in the immaculate chef’s kitchen and steaks on the fire, fresh eggs from the chickens that roamed the grounds, fishing the banks and paddling down the river in kayaks. Mostly, we enjoyed the beautiful location and time away to be together; we took in the Texas stars, enjoyed sunflowers as far as you can see and a home that is as lovely and welcoming as Pattie. The Harris family is appreciative for the hospitality, we will definitely be back.

Beautiful & Relaxing
The grounds are amazing and such a relaxing way to spend time with family. There are chickens that one can tend to and receive fresh eggs. A lovely swing and scenery. The interior design indoors is unique and we appreciated so many things. The kitchen is well stocked for cookware. The twin bed room was perfect for our kids and the master bedroom is lovely and spacious. (Note that we had to use the queen sofa sleeper because we couldn't fit two of us comfortably in the smaller bedroom; the master bed has a slightly bigger bed but we like our queen/king beds I guess.) We will certainly be back the next time we are in Georgetown.

A little slice of heaven near Austin
Wow doesn't even begin to describe this lovely home near Austin. Pattie warmly greeted us and gave us the lay of the land. We quickly settled and began to enjoy the evening on the patio. From the gourmet kitchen to the beautifully appointed rooms, our stay here was so relaxing. No wifi no problem! We spent the majority of our stay in the den tucked in the back of the house bird watching and relaxing. The fresh eggs were a nice treat the next morning. The chickens were not out a a fox had been making his rounds but that didn't stop us from seeing them. We cannot wait to come back to this lovely little slice of heaven again.

Beautiful home and property!!
My wife and I and a few other family members needed to be near Salado, TX for our son’s wedding. This home was perfect! Home sits on alot of land, is gated (nice security feature), and was so well decorated and warm. It had all the essentials in the kitchen and elsewhere and the owner was so kind, gave us a tour, and coffee to start each day! It was a most comfortable experience for our weekend and I could not speak more highly of the location, to the wedding venue, to the Airport (down I-130), and even to Round Rock or Austin. My wife and I have attended events at the Circuit of the Americas track and this would be an ideal place to stay! Thanks Pattie for your hospitality and we look forward to a future stay in your beautiful home! Jim and Linda

The house was clean, well decorated, and comfortable. Great view and atmosphere. Enjoyable.
Due to extended family graduation activities, we did not get to spend as much time as we wanted at the house. We can’t wait to go back and spend time enjoying the house and surroundings. Also, it was close to Georgetown and we want to visit it. Great getaway place.

Wonderful stay for our family - secluded yet close to highways
Our family of 6 had a fantastic stay at Redbird Farm. We thoroughly enjoyed the property - especially the outdoor table and grill, fountain and all the bird visitors. The setting was just enough outside of town to feel secluded and private, yet close enough to run into town for groceries or gas. The house was very clean and comfortable and Pattie was super quick to respond to any needs and questions that we had. We ventured out to Waco, Georgetown, Austin, San Antonio and more from this house. We all enjoyed the chickens and the fresh eggs during our stay. Our favorite hangout was on the back patio in the morning while we enjoyed coffee.

Perfect Retreat Location
Oh how we have enjoyed our visit to your lovely home. At every turn, inside and outside, we were delighted with your thoughtful little touches and were continuously amazed at your decorating taste and skill. We all are leaving feeling refreshed. Photos can not capture the beauty of this location. The daily fresh eggs were a special treat.

Perfect place for our Christmas family gathering!
Perfect place for our Christmas family gathering! The view off the back of the house was amazing and the weather was cool and crisp. We were able to walk about and explore the property, see the chickens and enjoy the outdoors to the fullest. Once it got dark we had beautiful starry nights and perfect weather for a fire outdoors. The home had plenty of room for us to gather to play games and open Christmas gifts together but, still a place for each one of us to slip away to a place by ourselves and relax and unwind. It was a great location for us to meet in the Central Texas area to enjoy each other‘s company and the beautiful Texas Hill country. Thank you Patti for sharing your very special home!

Lovely Natural Setting
The owner of the home, Pattie, greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the home. Pattie was delightful and we enjoyed meeting and visiting with her. The house is in a very lovely natural setting. There are amazing views, lots of nature sightings, beautiful outdoor seating and on top of that a donkey and chickens! It was great fun to watch the chickens wandering around the yard and Pattie shared some of their eggs with us, delicious! The home is right on the creek and one can see the water from the patio. We didn't venture down there but Pattie even has kayaks that one could use! She thinks of everything! The kitchen is definitely well stocked and since we don't eat out I would know! The stove works perfectly as do the gas burners and there is every implement imaginable available. The house is well appointed and has a lovely ambiance. We felt very comfortable being there and the gate added to our sense of security. The only thing that was a tad disconcerting for us were the half curtains in the bathroom. We did realize that we were out in the country but then again for city folks it did give one pause! We would definitely return to this lovely home the next time we're in the area. Pattie was readily available by text! This was our first HomeAway stay and I didn't realize that all the house information could be found on the app. Pattie answered a few questions graciously before I finally discovered the questions were answered on the app. All in all it was a marvelous stay and we are so happy we chose this beautiful home.

Wonderful holiday stay
My family of 6 stayed at Redbird Farm for Christmas this year. We had never been, but wanted to do something different. When we first arrived we all felt like we hit the home rental jackpot. The home is decorated so nicely. Very charming, clean, and has everything you need. We really fell in love with the outdoor area. There are so many nooks and seating areas, including fire pits. We had a fire almost every night. We also enjoyed the fresh eggs and their sweet pony. Patti and her husband were always available if we had any questions, and very easy to work with. We hope to go back someday!! I could see Redbird Farm appealing to various renters--families, girls trips, etc. Lastly, the farm is a short drive to the square in Georgetown which we also enjoyed visiting while we were there. Thanks to Patti and Terry for a great stay!

Perfectly comfortable and peaceful stay
We rented Redbird Farm for a long weekend this fall. It's a beautiful property and a stylish, comfortable and well-appointed home. We enjoyed such solitude just 5 miles from the conveniences of Georgetown and 6 miles from the fun at Walburg Restaurant & Biergarten. In addition to comfortably accommodating the 7 of us (6 in beds, one on the comfy den sofa), the outdoor space made a nice place for a few more visiting friends to gather around the fire pit and talk. And, we really enjoyed collecting and eating fresh yard eggs each day. We'd definitely rent again.

Chillin and Grillin
Our stay at Redbird Farm can only be described as peaceful, relaxing and stress free. We all had a wonderful time from watching the chickens and Mac the Pony to the evening bbq's on the back patio. The Meyer house was super clean and family friendly with all the comforts of home. The kitchen had every cooking need available. The fresh eggs were fabulous. I believe we at our way through 3 dozen eggs over the weekend!! Also loved the peaceful creek ride in our flotation device. Pattie was all accommodating and very sweet. The best part was the seclusion from all the hustle and bustle of city life. It was just what we needed to revitalize. Thank you so much for the grand hospitality. It was all we expected and more.... Very relaxing for adults; loads of fun for kids
The house was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. Pattie was wonderfully accommodating. Our kiddos (15, 12 & 7) loved the outdoors. Chickens, egg gathering, swing, kayaking & smores every night will always be great memories for us. We will definitely stay there if the need arises to be in that area again.

Relax and unwind in a peaceful country setting
Our family stayed at the country house for a family get together. The owner Pattie gave us a cheery warm greeting and showed us around. We found the house beautifully decorated and the kitchen lacked nothing. It was fully equipped with everything you could want for cooking. An added touch was coffee and condiments that were provided. The back and front yards were fantastic and our 13 year old granddaughter and 1 year old grandson had plenty of room to play in the house and to explore the huge backyard. A special feature was letting out the chickens every day and then collecting the eggs. The fresh eggs were delicious! The house was very spacious and we enjoyed making fires in the fire pit and having s’mores. The property is gated and private and we found it to be peaceful and very relaxing. Overall we had a wonderful stay and plan to rebook in the Spring.

A fantastic place to stay while in the Georgetown area
We were in town for a family get together wanted a place where we could stay as a family and we lucked out in finding this location. An absolute charming and wonderful place for that Texas hill country feel. The place on arrival was far better than the pictures. Pattie has done a wonderful job in decorating and it is such a homey and comfortable place to stay. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Absolutely incredible home and property!!!
Pattie has the most wonderful home nestled in the country part of Georgetown and the outdoor amenities and sitting on the creek made for the most enjoyable escape for our family. In addition, we had 7 young men stay 2 nights for our son's wedding and to say those totally enjoyed the outdoor offerings is an understatement along with sharing great meals at the tables together inside and outside. We will be back many times in the future as we travel to Austin and Roundrock to visit both sets of our in-laws in the area. Thanks Pattie for sharing your incredible home and giving us the grand tour when we arrived, it made our stay very enjoyable for rehearsal dinner and wedding itself.

About the host

Host profile image
Terry and I are a semi-retired couple who owned a printing company in Austin for 33 years. He's a native Minnesotan UT grad hunter/fisherman who dislikes the cold, and I'm a Dallas girl who came to Austin to UT in the 70's and stayed put. We have traveled to many spots around the world and know what it takes to feel comfortable and relaxed in a lodging setting.

Why they chose this property

After living for decades in Austin, raising a family, I was pulling for moving to the country near charming Georgetown. Terry agreed and I began the hunt. I immediately found this little treasure four miles east of Georgetown, and absolutely knew that this was it. And it was. The house is sited at the top of the hill overlooking the pastures and Berry Creek at the San Gabriel for a view that always gets lovely comments. We absolutely love the place and it's features, and know that others love it, too. We entertain a lot! So, we decided to share the love and rent it to others to enjoy, while we stay at another property nearby. After a year of real success with another vacation rental company, we decided to join the VRBO family. We can't wait to get more 100%, 5-star reviews for this wonderful property.

What makes this property unique

The relaxed and unmistakably peaceful vibe you get immediately as you arrive on the property was the deciding factor when we first saw this place. Huge natural stone patio - add the view of the water and the orchard and we were hooked. We feel so lucky to be here.
