About this property

Chalk Cottage at Flamborough, Yorkshire Coast, Four Star Accomodation. Sleeps 4

Chalk Cottage is situated in the seaside village of Flamborough on the east coast of Yorkshire. A perfect base to see what Yorkshire has to offer. It is an upside-down, semi-detached holiday cottage with the living room and kitchen being on the first floor to take advantage of the fantastic views of the countryside.
Chalk Cottage was built in 2006 by local builders on the site of the former Croft Farm. Chalk reclaimed from the demolished farm buildings was carefully preserved and used in the construction of the cottage and other properties on the development.
The cottage has been a holiday cottage, with it’s present owners since that time, consistently achieving four star status from Visit England assessors on their annual inspections. The many positive comments in the visitors book in the cottage reflect the high level of satisfaction from our many visitors over the years.
Our housekeeper lives locally and takes great pride in ensuring the cottage is maintained to a high standard. To enable change rounds to be of the highest standard new guests will not be able to access the property until 3 p.m on the day of arrival.
The cottage consists of 3 ground floor bedrooms, having two double beds and two singles so any combination of beds can be used but we can only accommodate a maximum of four people. A white modern tiled bathroom which has a convenient quality shower and bath. Four people can be comfortably accommodated.

The traditional seaside village of Flamborough is a fantastic place for those of you who like the great outdoors, with lots of good walks along the rugged cliff tops with panoramic views of the coastline, and good hearty Yorkshire dishes in one of the pubs in the village.Flamborough is famous for its traditional working lighthouse and the historic Chalk Tower that warned away ships in days of old. Down from the lighthouse, guests can visit the sheltered coves where seals are often spotted. Along the coast, visit the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, home to over 200,000 seabirds, including kittiwakes, guillemots and puffins. There are specially created cliff-top viewpoints where you can watch the birds in their natural habitat. Just a short stroll from the cottage, visit Danes Dyke nature reserve with it’s stunning array of wildlife.

This area of Yorkshire is also famous for its stately homes, including Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere, Sewerby Hall and slightly further afield, Castle Howard. The medieval city of York is less than an hour’s drive away with its ancient city walls and the famous York Minster. There is also lots of shopping with many designer boutique shops amongst the narrow cobbled streets. The nearest town is Bridlington, just 4 miles away, where there is plenty to do for all the family. Take the children along the coast on the famous Yorkshire Belle pleasure boat or visit the famous spa where spectacular shows are hosted every evening. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Fabulous little cottage
We've just had a great 5 days at this really lovely cottage. All the comforts of home in an excellent location for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire coast. Spotlessly clean, very comfy bed, all new appliances & all within walking distance of several pubs in the local village. Perfect for recharging the batteries & we will definitely be coming back. Good location for exploring the coast
We really liked the location of this cottage with it being so close to many coastal walking routes and Sewerby Hall. The lounge, dining room & kitchen were a good size with everything you should need. We found it a bit of a tight with the travel cot. With the cottage facing the main road, we feel we would have benefited from having curtains in the bedroom, as well as the blinds.

Lovely cottage to use for a base for exploring the area
Unusual upside down cottage that works really well. It is fully fitted with everything we needed, thankfully we didn't need to test the heating. Easy to find with the map that Chris sent through & would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Great location for walking & Bempton Cliffs are a must this time of the year if only to spot some Puffins!

Great place to stay in Flamborough
Clean, comfortable, well equipped, fair price. We had a few days in Flamborough. Lots to see and do. Good pubs and restaurants in the village. We will be back. Not really a 'cottage'. But the chalk walls are very nice. Lovely private garden area.

Cottage was clean warm and very welcoming. It had everything you need for a holiday there. Home from home. Also very well looked after by the owners. Excellent position to visit much of that area of the East Coast. Will be booking again.
