Chalk Cottage is situated in the seaside village of Flamborough on the east coast of Yorkshire. A perfect base to see what Yorkshire has to offer. It is an upside-down, semi-detached holiday cottage with the living room and kitchen being on the first floor to take advantage of the fantastic views of the countryside.
Chalk Cottage was built in 2006 by local builders on the site of the former Croft Farm. Chalk reclaimed from the demolished farm buildings was carefully preserved and used in the construction of the cottage and other properties on the development.
The cottage has been a holiday cottage, with it’s present owners since that time, consistently achieving four star status from Visit England assessors on their annual inspections. The many positive comments in the visitors book in the cottage reflect the high level of satisfaction from our many visitors over the years.
Our housekeeper lives locally and takes great pride in ensuring the cottage is maintained to a high standard. To enable change rounds to be of the highest standard new guests will not be able to access the property until 3 p.m on the day of arrival.
The cottage consists of 3 ground floor bedrooms, having two double beds and one single so any combination of beds can be used but we can only accommodate a maximum of five people. A white modern tiled bathroom which has a convenient quality shower and bath. Four people can be comfortably accommodated.

The beds have quality mattresses, duck down duvets and pillows together with luxurious sheets and bedding, with pillow and mattress protectors.
The traditional seaside village of Flamborough is a fantastic place for those of you who like the great outdoors, with lots of good walks along the rugged cliff tops with panoramic views of the coastline, and good hearty Yorkshire dishes in one of the pubs in the village.Flamborough is famous for its traditional working lighthouse and the historic Chalk Tower that warned away ships in days of old. Down from the lighthouse, guests can visit the sheltered coves where seals are often spotted. Along the coast, visit the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, home to over 200,000 seabirds, including kittiwakes, guillemots and puffins. There are specially created cliff-top viewpoints where you can watch the birds in their natural habitat. Just a short stroll from the cottage, visit Danes Dyke nature reserve with it’s stunning array of wildlife.
This area of Yorkshire is also famous for its stately homes, including Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere, Sewerby Hall and slightly further afield, Castle Howard. The medieval city of York is less than an hour’s drive away with its ancient city walls and the famous York Minster. There is also lots of shopping with many designer boutique shops amongst the narrow cobbled streets. The nearest town is Bridlington, just 4 miles away, where there is plenty to do for all the family. Take the children along the coast on the famous Yorkshire Belle pleasure boat or visit the famous spa where spectacular shows are hosted every evening. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

On the first floor is the spacious lounge, dining area and kitchen. Distressed oak flooring and quality carpets and blinds compliment the leather and solid oak furniture which enhances the modern facilities of the built in kitchen, boasting dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer, microwave, oven and hob together with extractor hood.
An automatic washing machine is in the cubby hole to the right as you come in the rear door. Ironing board and steam iron are also provided.
An exposed rustic brick fireplace houses a log effect gas stove which together with a modern combination central heating system provides an all year round warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Bridlington with it’s blue flag beaches, Filey, Scarborough, Whitby, York and the North Yorkshire Moors (Heartbeat Country) are only a short drive away.
With its magnificent coastline and tranquil countryside, this lovely corner of England offers something for everyone. There is a huge variety of activities – fantastic safe beaches, great walking and cycling routes, and a range of historic houses and fascinating museums.
The village of Flamborough is situated near Filey and the Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve, famous for the amazing colonies of puffins and other seabirds. Walkers can take advantage of the Yorkshire Wolds and the magnificent North Yorkshire Moors as they are both within easy reach. The area also has a wealth of historic houses including Sewerby Hall and Burton Agnes Hall, which are close to the village and ideal for a family day out. If safe, sandy beaches are the order of the day, the resorts of Bridlington and Filey offer just such amenities and more besides for a traditional, seaside family feel. Flamborough is an ideal base for a memorable holiday.
