About this property

Base Camp-Play hard then rest extravagantly! Ski in/out 4 BR-secluded-Jane Creek

We lost our Premier Host status because we were shut down last season for some repairs & updates, but rest assured we have exceptional reviews, and we are an individual owner host with very prompt and personalized service! We've been staying here for over 10 years ourselves, and Kristin or Lanny will respond to your every question.

This unit offers numerous amenities that make a Winter Park vacation one that you and your family or friends will remember for the rest of your life. Do you need room for a lot of people? We have actual bed space for 13 with space for 2 more on the (new fall of 2024) highest quality tri fold memory foam sofa sleeper, total of 15. We feel that a real bed is much more comfortable than an air mattress or traditional pull out mattress/sofa. Do you want easy access to the slopes? You can either walk a short trail to the ski corridor and ski to the base (ski in/ski out) or you can walk down about a block where the green line bus, that runs continuously, will pick you up and take you to the lifts at the base. This bus will be at the loading point approximately every 20 minutes, there is NO other line in the bus system that picks up that frequently or drops you so close to the lifts. You can also use the bus system to travel into Winter Park, Fraser and other destinations (this requires switching buses). Ski rental (Breeze) is available about a block away at the Iron Horse property. (Please be aware the ski in option requires skiing the blue (intermediate) Mary Jane slope and is therefore not an option for new skiers or those who ski only greens (easy)

Enjoy golf? Pole Creek and Grand Elk Golf Clubs are within a 20 minute drive. Do you want to relax in a spa at the end of the day? We have one on the back deck. Want the option of personal space? Separate living areas allow for conversations in multiple places. Do you have children? So do we! We have stocked items like high chairs, pack-n-plays, swim diapers and other items. We have an X-box S with 1 TB of memory (coming Dec/maybe Nov 2024) in the basement and several family friendly movies. Our children use their sleds and play/explore in the cul de sac in front of the unit and along the path in the woods behind the townhome. We have rented several units in Winter Park over the years for our family vacations. This unit, by far, is the most spacious and most comfortable we've ever stayed at. You will not forget the positive memories you create while vacationing at 464 Base Camp.

Please note: We advertise this property as smoke and animal free. It is absolutely crucial that smoke odor and pet dander are kept out of the unit due to various guests with smoke and/or animal allergies. If you or anyone in your party smoke or desire to bring a pet or assistance animal, please find other accommodations. Our cleaner will charge up to $1000 fee to restore the unit back to smoke and animal free.

Some specifics: (Here's a rough walk thru video from July 2024: https://youtu.be/QtzwOF5SFaQ)

Master Bedroom: King bed with cozy chair and ottoman, two sided fireplace, private deck, TV and DVD player with smart capabilities, private bathroom with dual head shower and jetted tub and dual sink

2nd Master Bedroom: Queen bed with beautiful view of the continental divide, private bathroom with shower, smart TV.

3rd Bedroom: Queen over queen rustic log bunk beds plus an individual twin bed, actual bed space for 5 adults, 2 pack and plays can also be found stored in the closet with fresh linens, two high chairs, a baby monitor, swim diapers, and a stroller. This room also has a view of the continental divide. A full bathroom with shower/tub combination is just across the hall. Smart TV hung on the wall and another older (no internet connection) TV with DVD player in the closet. (We prefer our children not have unsupervised access to the internet and only give them access to this TV with DVDs in this room.)

The above bedrooms are all upstairs and on the same floor. Downstairs in the rec room, you will find:

4th Bedroom/Rec Room: twin over double bunk bed plus an individual twin AND a queen pull out tri fold memory foam sofa sleeper (new late 2024), actual bed space for 6. Connected to this room is a full bathroom with shower/tub combination, and the rec room itself has an additional sink. As this room is also a rec room it is well stocked with a large screen smart TV, Xbox One with family friendly games, board and card games, toys and books. (newly reconstructed as of spring 2024 with new carpet, sectional, pull out sleeper, and more)

Both the upstairs and the downstairs have laundry closets with full sized high efficiency washers and dryers and are stocked with detergent and dryer sheets. Just in case you want to wash something while you're here or prefer to avoid taking home dirty laundry.

We have a couple of hair dryers and humidifiers as well as several fans and throw blankets and luggage racks scattered throughout the bedrooms. Feel free to move them wherever you want them!

Our gourmet kitchen is well stocked with high end appliances and a wide variety of small appliances, dishes, and cookware including a 6 burner Wolf range and oven, large Sub-Zero refrigerator, dishwasher, large microwave, Keurig, traditional coffee maker, Instant Pot, toaster/toaster oven, crockpots, blender, electric griddle, hand mixer, food processor, electric teapot, and a wide variety of cookware and dishes including child-friendly items. We also stock many common pantry items and condiments. We use this kitchen ourselves to feed our large family and guests that travel with us. Plus we take very seriously any recommendations we've received from guests. As a result, we've managed to reach a point where we have almost anything anyone might need.

The table in the kitchen/dining area has seating for 8 with 4 more at the island. There is also seating for two more at the bar nearby, and an additional chair that can be pulled up to the island. Right in the dining area, there is an office chair that can be pulled up to the table, and there are two high chairs in the upstairs closet. So, very spacious seating for 14 as well as a couple of additional seats to pull up plus high chairs. Also, the deck off the great room (where the bar is located) has another table with seating for four around the table and another bench for two. We love sitting out on the deck and enjoying the beautiful mountain view.

There is a small office area to the side of the kitchen/dining area with a desk, chair, printer/copier, and charging station.

Off the kitchen is the third deck with the spa/hot tub, a propane Weber grill, and a fireplace that is two sided with the other side being in the kitchen.

The great room features plenty of seating, a fire TV with a dvd player and variety of family friendly movies, the bar, a cozy fireplace, and large windows to take in the gorgeous view.

The unit also has a heated garage with an additional space for parking on the driveway. The entry and garage have plenty of hooks and closet space to store all your equipment and gear.

The front door has keypad entry. You will be given your own code for your stay and will not have to deal with picking up or returning (or losing) keys. Just outside the front door is a private cul de sac area where kids can sled, build in the snow, play catch or have a snowball fight. The only traffic is from the other units which is very minimal. And, out the back is a fantastic forested area for the kids to play, sled, and explore. We often get a variety of wildlife that can be seen especially in the evening or morning hours.

Winter Park Short-Term Rental Registration No. 004186

About the Winter Park area:

Our unit is right on the resort. As mentioned before, you are just a short hike to the ski area. We are also only about a 1/4 mile walk to the Village where you can find shopping, restaurants, ice skating, night life, and other activities. The resort offers a variety of free activities during the ski and summer seasons including broom ball, live music, yoga, movies, s'mores, and more. There is a free cabriolet lift that makes for an enjoyable ride and beautiful views. You can also take it to the Coca-Cola tubing hill. In the town of Winter Park, about 4 miles away, you will find many more restaurants, bars, and shops as well as a rec center, movie theater, bowling alley, park with free sledding, grocery store, gas stations, and hiking and biking trails. There is even a scenic biking trail that you can take into town. Just another 2 miles past Winter Park is the town of Fraser with a larger grocery store, a tubing hill, a rodeo during the summer, a public library, the train station, and some more shops and restaurants. As mentioned earlier, there are some beautiful mountain golf courses just 20 minutes away as well as Snow Mountain Ranch with an indoor swimming pool, roller skating, ping pong and pool and table hockey, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, outdoor miniature golf, craft activities, ice skating, tubing, and much more. You can also enjoy a beautiful 30-40 mile drive through the valley to the several lakes in the county with typical lake activities under a gorgeous mountain view. There will be no lack of things to do while you're here!

Absolutely fantastic. This house is located in a cul de sac in a private community on Winter Park mountain. The exterior is perfect for a mountain luxury home.About the house: I rarely walk in to a rental property to be blown away by the kitchen but that is what happened here. The kitchen is well stocked with all the pots, utensils etc you could need. But getting back to the house - it is basically 4 levels. The mudroom is for skiis and boots and has a heated floor - very convenient. The first level has a large entertainment room with a large wrap around couch and bunk beds and a private bathroom. The next level is the living room, again with a very comfortable couple of couches and chairs and a bar area with a small wine fridge and extra drinks fridge and sink. The next level is the kitchen and the outdoor jacuzzi. Upstairs is a very spacious, very comfortable master bedroom and bathroom, and two other bedrooms with their own bathrooms. There is laundry on the first level and the 4th level! Yes, that’s right, two laundry areas! Amazing.Skiing: this is a true ski in and ski out. You leave the house and a short walk some stairs takes you to a run where you put on your skis and ski to the gondola area. So simple and easy and no lugging skis in a car. There is also a ski rental shop walking distance from the unit. The amenities are superb! The mountain had great snow when we were there so it was super fun and the jacuzzi was a really nice benefit upon our return. Excellent

Ski trip to Winter Park
Very good property with excellent space, beds, supplies and conveniences. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars is that the ski in ski out should have provided more details on the walk out to the ski in slope. The walk out is up hill culminating at 5 flights of stairs up to the slope. My son-in-law had to carry our 5-year-old granddaughter up the slope/steps while wearing ski boots and then go back down to get their skis and poles.Adding a better description to include an age range describing who would be able to complete the climb would have been helpful.

Terrific place and ski-in, ski-out. As others have said, the house is super insulated so you need to follow the directions to keep it from getting warm. We'd definitely return.

Family Ski Trip
Our large family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful condo! Winter Park had a large amount of snow (great for skiing) the days leading up to our arrival creating an issue to park in the driveway. The property manager was very quick to respond and helpful in trying to find solutions. We hope to stay here in the future!

Fantastic Winter Break Vacation with Friends
Me and 9 of my friends all stayed here for a winter break vacation, and it was amazing. The owner was extremely accommodating and helpful with any questions or concerns we had. The ski in ski out was a great feature. We had an amazing time and truly could not have asked for a better place to stay.

Perfect Ski Trip
The townhouse was perfect for our 4 adults and 4 kids (we originally booked 11 ppl but had a cancel). The house provided everything we needed for cooking and entertaining. The shuttle stop was convenient enough (it moved a little further away due to construction). We also used the ski in/out. Kristin's communication was fantastic before and after our stay. We'd highly recommend and plan on using this property in the future!

Family ski trip
Perfect place for large family get together. Seven of us, all adults, had a wonderful stay. Townhouse is large with more than enough space. Kitchen/dining area spacious, bedrooms comfortable, large living room. Short walk up trail to metal steps to corridor ski access trail to main base. Mary Jane trail back to corridor a solid intermediate trail but if can manage that makes return to property easy. Only encountered minor issues -water leak in bedroom from ice dam responded to and repaired immediately, dishwasher stopped working (replaced with new model). Owners couldn’t have been more responsive. Suggestions for improvement include new pillows in primary bedroom and some sort of window shades/curtains in same room. This is an excellent choice for a large group ski vacation.

Spacious Getaway
The place was clean, comfortable, and an excellent accommodation for our group. I'd definitely stay there again. I miss the big kitchen already. As the other recent review said, ski in/out is not beginner friendly, so plan on the shuttle if you can't handle blues. A few fixable areas for improvement: - there was not enough bedding to call the couch spots beds. The blankets available for the couch spots were tiny fleece blankets. An extra couple sets of top sheets to cover the couches with and a couple more comforters would have made a huge difference - light went out in the king master toilet and the fireplace didn't work. I wasn't comfortable getting up high to replace the light myself like the host recommended. Sounds like the fireplace is a known issue that isn't repairable. The host was accomodating and responded quickly, but for the cost of the stay I would expect that stuff to be taken care of. Still 5 stars.

Winter Park 2.0
This trip was a group that had planned to be in Colorado in 2020 when the pandemic hit. We were so excited to be coming back several years later for fun with friends. We were not disappointed with this property. IT WAS AMAZING. Great location, great amenities, excellent host - very responsive. We loved it and have given others the property information. We call it WP 2.0 just simply because it was our second attempt with this trip. We highly recommend this property and Winter Park, in general. Hernandos Pizza is a must too.

Spacious Rental
property was as advertised and very spacious. We had 8 people and there was plenty of room. Plenty of kitchen items, seats for dining, and ample fridge space. Large garage was very useful for loading/unloading. Great entry space for ski gear. Full disclosure, Ski in Ski out involved a short path to 56 stairs up to the corridor run which takes you right to the gondola. For Winter Park, this is one of the most "ski in ski out" accommodations you can find. Outstanding property and would definitely stay here again.

Family Ski Vacation
Lovely condo and great location. For a novice or average skier, ski in was not an option. The Mary Jane return is difficult. The ski out is accurate but it’s a hike uphill with 5 separate flights of stairs to navigate with equipment The furniture can be upgraded especially the couches and beds and pillows. Overall we had a wonderful time and Winter Park is great.

Great Ski House
House is beautiful. Common areas were larger than expected given the pictures. Well stocked kitchen with coffee pot, slow cooker, etc. Very responsive host with answers to questions. We had 4 vehicles and parked 2 down in town - not a big deal. - Some details about the rooms - The two upstairs rooms with queen and king beds were very nice and had their own bathroom attached. The third upstairs bedroom with 2 queens (bunkbed) and a twin was small - bathroom across the hall. The downstairs room consisted or a twin over queen bunk, a twin, and a pullout couch. The pullout was quite uncomfortable and the bunk beds (even the queen on the bottom) not suitable for adults as every time someone move the entire bed creaked making it hard to sleep. There was also a bathroom attached to this room. - Location: Ski in/Out - The ski trail is located about a 5 min walk (for adults) and 10 or more for my 4-6 yr old children. There is a path adjacent to the house that leads up the mountain to about 40 stairs which have to be climbed to reach the ski hill. This was very difficult for our 4 &5 yr old. Our 6 year olds could do it but it wasn't "easy". The trail that it lead to was fairly flat from the house down to the gondola and led to me pulling the 3 kids for over 400 -600 yards on their skis. Not the best ski in/out location from an access standpoint but wasn't so bad we felt like we had to drive or take the shuttle bus. We didn't come back to the house for lunch like we had planned because it was not convenient. - Overall the place gets a high rating for quality and responsiveness. It is a ski in/out but with a hike which is difficult with younger kids to a trail which is a bit flat so don't have the impression you're skiing to the door. 2 of the rooms were better suite for kids/teens then adults given the size and bed arrangement.

Great Location
The location of this home was peaceful and picturesque. It was also conveniently located to the village. The home was very comfortable for our family of 8 adults and 5 children. For families with small children, the many stairs could be a problem, but luckily our grandchildren were just old enough it wasn’t a problem. The kitchen was stocked with an assortment of nice appliances which came in handy cooking for a large group. I would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this Base Camp townhome. The unit backs up to the mountainside forest with a running stream about 50 ft from the rear deck. Spacious, well stocked house! Great location
This house gave all 7 of us enough space to spread out. The whole house was very well stocked. Any appliance you would need is there and we didn't have to worry about the little things like soap at all the sinks for us to use bc there was some there already. It’s a little walk to get to the corridor which is where you can ski down to the gondola but it’s definitely doable and nice to ski in and ski out. We were worried about some bad weather preventing us from getting out on our departure day and Kristin was quick to respond to my questions. We would stay there again!

About the host

Hosted by Kristin Greenhalgh

Host profile image
We are the Greenhalgh family, owners of Ichthys Winter Park LLC, and live in south-central Nebraska raising crops, cattle, and as you can see, KIDS!!! We homeschool and use that opportunity to teach the children about the importance of enterprise, to the glory of God. By the age of 7 each child is required to have their own business. Robert milks, Ashley does eggs, Hannah bakes, David raises hogs and Rachel does sheep. They all also have their daily chores to do around the house. As we prepared the Winter Park property for rental each child was assigned various duties. There was a lot of cleaning to do, there were several shelving units and other items to assemble and my then 12-year old daughter installed the new thermostats! We have a motto in our household that states, 'Work first, play later.' This Winter Park property is the culmination of God blessing a lot of work so that we can now have some play time. We expect the children to learn numerous lessons about the upkeep of a property and about the blessings of being able to enjoy it.

Why they chose this property

We have traveled to many places over the years on family vacations and found none we prefer over Winter Park, CO. Skiing and snowboarding top the list but there are so many other things to do and enjoy. In the winter there are snowmobiling rentals nearby and many other activities. The children love the Coca-Cola tubing, we also tube at the YMCA and there is a tube hill in Fraser. During the summer nothing beats downhill mountain biking (after being carried to the top of the mountain on a lift). It is a huge thrill. Plenty of other hiking and biking activities in the summer as well. There is an alpine slide, mini golf, bounce houses, zip line and other activities at the base of the mountain in the summer time. The YMCA I mentioned, called Snow Mountain Ranch, is near Winter Park and is loaded with family fun opportunities. Some golf courses with the most amazing views are located a few minutes of our property. Our children also thoroughly enjoy white water rafting. Winter Park is a year-round vacation playground.

What makes this property unique

The Base Camp on Jane Creek 464 property is unique in that it's not just a place to stay, it's a place to enjoy living. We've built some very good memories staying in the smallest places possible on our trips, but we didn't want to purchase a unit like that. We looked at several properties in WP that would have been large enough to hold us. However, staying at a place and being on top of each other all of the time is not the most enjoyable way to spend a vacation. When we were looking for a place it was also crucial to us that the children be able to easily access the base ski lifts. We originally thought that the Zephyr Mountain Lodge units were the only properties that fit this bill. We were wrong! Since the green line bus route stops a short distance from our door and drops you off at the base, it is arguable that we are now closer to the lifts than if we had a ZML unit. The green line is the only colored shuttle line that drops you off right by the Zephyr and Arrow lifts, with all of the other routes you must walk through the entire village to get to the lifts. We are VERY thankful that base access is so easily available. Our 8 year-old can safely and easily navigate himself to the base for skiing, snowboarding and other activities. If the bus system isn't enough, we also have ski in/ski out access via the ski corridor behind the unit. Easy lift access is very important to us and we think you will find it to be very enjoyable as well. If you need to stop mid-day with a little one you won't be gone from the slopes for long to take them home.
