Perfect stay
The house is definitely right on the beach, My wife and myself spent our honeymoon here, this was exactly what I had hoped for, very low key a perfect little place to spend some one on one time with each other. The area is beautiful, we saw seals manta rays We would definitely stay here again. My only complaint would be the entry door at the garage level, lots of fish while snorkeling

Disappointed
We have stayed in many VRBO’s. This listing had many great reviews so I was quite hopeful. However upon arrival the key was hard to get at, it was late, dark, unlit & salt water has made it very hard to open the box. There are (as reviews state) many repairs that need to be made. The front door has been busted & haphazardly fixed, the upstairs door window busted, upstairs multiple screens bent, coming loose. BUT the most upsetting was that the washing machine broke & water went everywhere. I was told to wring out my clothes (we found a laundromat). They also list the bed as a Queen size bed which is false-it is a full size bed. Had this been properly mentioned I would not have booked as this made things quite miserable for 2 grown adults to sleep together for 2 weeks. It is also listed as a private beach which is not the case as the public is constantly parked on either side of the small road to get to the secluded beach. The beach is not a good swimming beach, but is nice to look at. Go to Poipu Beach.

Trip of a life time!
I worked hard to put this 2 week vacation together, started 8 months before. I suggest you plan ahead if you want this house. It's right on the beach. You walk out the door, step down a couple of steps and you are ON THE BEACH! It is an older house and just a plain house, but it is all that you will need! If you are looking for fancy, go somewhere else. The bed was very comfortable, which is always an important thing in a 2 week stay. We opened the windows and let the sea breeze in and it kept everything cool. You listen to the waves constantly. It's wonderful! There are beach chairs, bamboo mats, a cooler, beach toys, and a BBQ grill. Everything is 15-20 minutes away, which is also a good thing, because there are less people! If we could do this again, we'd do it in a heartbeat! One thing that is stressed and I will stress it again, get a small vehicle. I'm 5'2" and I could reach up and touch the ceiling in the parking garage. We had a Ford Escape and it was almost too big. If you can't get your vehicle in the parking area, there is no where else to park it. GET A SMALL CAR! We loved, loved this place!!

We showed up a little early and the property manager gave us the okay to check in early to accompany us. When we parked we quickly realized that we booked a gem. You park and literally five steps from sand. The house is very rustic and we loved it. It was perfect for our get away with our 1yr 9month old. Would recommend to any couple or small family. Moala beach is amazing and your within 15min iof several other beaches. Can’t wait to go back.

Location! Location! Location!
You can't judge a book by it's cover. This place looks run-down from the outside, but the living space upstairs is beautiful, clean, comfortable and has an incredible view! The ocean is right out the windows and beach is reached just by walking downstairs. We spotted whales and turtles from the many windows. We found ourselves not wanting to go anywhere else! Do note, you do need to be able to walk up about 30 steps to get to the living quarters, and the parking area would only accommodate a car (no SUVs, etc). The kitchen was well stocked, all linens were clean. You'll need your own shower soap and shampoo. We loved our stay and would stay again.

We LOVED this place. The location is idyllic for a couple looking to get away somewhere probate and unique. This rustic cabin was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a one week stay in Kauai. We had friends staying in Princeville and appreciated how close the cabin was to other neighboring towns while still remaining quiet and peaceful.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in December and it was amazing. The ocean comes right up to the building almost, the breeze and the surf are fantastic. There are a lot of stairs and the a/c really only applies to the bedroom but, whatever, if you are looking for a posh resort, this is not it. You might see a bug or two, get over it, because you will have the most amazing view and beach almost entirely to yourself. We saw maybe 3 people a day on the beach. All day. Moloa'a Bay is spectacular. Where else in HA can you have an ENTIRE BAY to yourself with the surf so loud in your place that you will have to close some windows to be able to hear the tv? The vintage mahigany woodwork is awesome (there are 3 pocket doors), at times it feels like you are on a ship, because all you see when you glance outside is water. Tremendous spot. Brian was very responsive and helpful. We will be back.

Wooden beach house
Was a great place to stay right on the beach. If you have the right fishing gear, it’s a great place to fish with lots of local fishermen that come in the morning. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful with no obstructions as you are right on the beach. The house itself reminded me of the old captains quarters on a wooden ship. The home is definitely aged, but has a lot of character and gives you a good Hawaiian feel

Lage an wunderschöner Bucht.

On the Beach Gem
This property was literally on the beach! Step out of the back of the under-property carport and you hit sand. For the price, this property was 5-star. It could use a bit of refurbishing...but then you'd pay considerably more per night. Did I say you are literally on the beach? The humidity and ocean spray can play havoc with the interior and exterior wood and metal surfaces and this place has a LOT of wood surface which gives it charm. The humidity was 100%, normal for Kauai, and everything inside was, of course, damp. No help for that. My ONLY gripe was that the hot and cold water piping was reversed and we thought we had no hot water for showers. We figured it out before the owner promptly got back by text within the hour. So just turn on the shower faucet a smidgen instead of all the way to the left and you are golden. This place has neighbors but the neighborhood is very secluded (on the fricking beach!), half way between Kapa'a and Princeville, so plan to travel 20 minutes for food and shopping. The kitchen has every thing you need for free-lance meals. Remember to keep all opened items in the fridge, including bread and breakfast cereal, and scrub all prep and eating surfaces with soap and water and you won't see any bugs. Kauai is the land of the wild chicken and they will serenade you at dawn every morning, right outside your window...sweet...and accompany you to all your eating venues. Seriously, I would stay here again, better than the Pville condo on previous stay

Casa Patina
Moloa’a Bay Beach House has a most spectacular view of the eastern horizon, sunrise to moonrise. This crescent bay has it all: tide-pools, swimming, body surfing, fishing, hiking and snorkeling. If you love silvery driftwood, beautiful salt-spray patterns on glass, verdigris hinges, and a continuous flow of delicious fresh water from the sink, you’ll love this handsome, traditional, Hawaiian Koa-wood framed architectural gem. The house is situated next to the public beach access at the end of a narrow lane in a tight cluster of homes. The under-the-house parking can be tricky, so be sure to choose a small to medium sized vehicle. The sliding doors squawk a bit at first. Bring in some WD40 and you’ll have a better night’s sleep. The kitchen has a nice layout, and has almost everything a chef might need. The charcoal grill is on it’s last leg. Three stories up the sound of the sea and the coconut palms rustling in the wind is a constant assurance that you are ON THE BEACH.

Unbelievable setting, cool place to stay, property needs upkeep
Plusses: Moloa'a Bay is quintessential Hawaii. It is beyond beautiful and the unit couldn't be closer to the water. The view is magnificent and the location is very private. There are very few homes or vacation rentals on the bay and one must drive down a long road to get there so we often felt like we had the beach to ourselves. IT IS A VERY SPECIAL PLACE!!! The apartment itself is very comfortably appointed, but not fancy. It has lots of character, although with all the wood it can be a bit dark inside. (an easy fix is that the vaulted ceiling is painted a very pretty sky blue... white might make it a bit brighter.) Minuses: The unit is in need of much attention! Starting from the outside: 1. There are two outdoor faucets, one with a hose for washing the sand from ones feet. Neither is functional in the that handles for turning the water on and off and broken off. 2. The lockbox is very difficult to read because of corrosion from the salt air. (Brian, the owner said that they will replace it.) 3. The door to the stairs to reach the apartment is difficult to open and close and it appears that the wood is coming apart. 4. There is no key to the upstairs unit making the unit less secure... apparently one of the renters walked off with it. 5. One of the windows on the way up the stairs is cracked and there is tape holding it together. 6. The door into the apartment gets stuck on the floor so a good effort is needed both the open it and close it. 7. There is a beautiful stained glass insert in the door coming into the apartment. One of the glass pieces is missing. 8. Although the apartment has window all around, most of them are so badly damaged or the screens are damaged that they can't be opened. When we were able to get one of the windows in the sitting area open and we closed the screen we had a several, what we think were wasps, visiting us through a crack. 9. Lastly the bathroom sink has a leaky faucet. To be fair once we figured out how to get around these issues we had a great stay. Also, we addressed these issues with Brian and he assured us that they were in the process of fixing the them. Perhaps because of the pandemic, demand for contractors and shipping issues repairs have been delayed.

Fabulous Location
Overall, this was a good property that met our needs on this trip. PROS: great location! The beach and steady ocean breeze were wonderful! The neighborhood was safe and quiet. The location was fairly central to all of our activities. The concierge service was very helpful in helping us get a couple tours scheduled. The air conditioner was nice for the option to cool down when there was no breeze. CONS: the house needs some basic maintenance such as fixing/replacing screens, and regular pest treatment. Cockroaches coming up through the sink drain and lizards in the house are not “charming;” they’re health hazards. A heaping pile of smelly beach trash sat below the property most of the week. Some of the instructions in the check-in email did not match the property, the property handbook was missing, and email to our contact went unreturned all week. Finally, I would suggest adding a small cooler and beach chairs to the amenities provided.

Wow!
My Wife and I spent our honeymoon here and it was sooo relaxing! No crowds, just beach and water. The shower was a little small, but we were ok with it, if you are tall you might have a little issue. Beautiful home. Yes its dated. but it adds to the charm. so many great memories were made during our stay. It is a little out of the way. But I felt it was perfect distance to everything as well. easy to get to the north shore and easy to get to the south. The road to the home was very dark, so take it slow and look for on coming traffic. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you owners for the accommodations!
