About this property

Charming Mill restored as a rural house

Charming Mill restored as a rural house:
The charming Molino Alto is a flour mill rehabilitated as a home. Located in a magical place, surrounded by nature, mountains and waterfalls, it is ideal to relax, get out of the routine and disconnect from daily stress. It will surprise you! It is 20 minutes from Granada, 25 minutes from the Costa Tropical and 50 minutes from the Sierra Nevada ski resort. The Mill is located in the area known as Molino Alto, since this building was the highest mill in the Lecrín Valley and took advantage of the waterfall for the operation of the machinery, a waterfall that is still preserved next to the house. , where its relaxing sound, the vegetation that surrounds the mill and the steep peaks that accompany the house give the house a special charm. The torrent river passes a few meters away, creating a natural pool near the house that delights children and not so children. The house has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (spread over two floors), an office with views, a fully equipped and recently renovated kitchen, 2 fireplaces, pellet stove, washing machine, barbecue, several terraces, gardens, private parking area . The property has just been completely redecorated including a new kitchen. The pool will be available in the summer months (ask for opening and closing dates). We supply firewood in the winter months, it is not included in the rent.

If you are looking for something different, unique and full of character then this is the place!

We chose the property initially because it was dog friendly. It's a great area for walking with limitless square miles of mountains literallly on the doorstep. Having mountain bikes with us was a huge bonus as there are mile after mile of 'white roads' through the mountains. The house is on one such road which provides a spectacular 9 km loop rising to over 2000 m before descending into the village where you can get coffee (and amazing home made cakes from the bread shop). The house itself is at the head of a valley and has wonderful views. There are ample outside areas/terraces to sun bathe and eat. It was very hot while we were there but the house was beautifully cool. I should imagine it would be a great place to stay in winter as there are wood burning fires and a good wood store. It had everything we required for a self-catering stay. We did find the drive up the white road to the property a little daunting the first time we used it but we soon got used to it.
