About this property

Wonderful holiday home with spectacular views of Caprese Michelangelo.

Casa Rosa is nestled among the Tuscan hills with spectacular views of Caprese Michleangelo - the birth home of the great artist, Michelangelo.
The grounds have been lovingly landscaped with ponds, olive grove, vineyard, fruit trees and flowering plants and are for your enjoyment. Casa Rosa is an independent stonehouse that has been beautifully restored to the highest standards, retaining the Tuscan charm, with wooden beams, chestnut doors and windows, title flooring around the house with exception of the master room that has wood flooring. For winter you can enjoy the wood fireplace located on the living room. Your private holiday home is designed for relaxing and comfortable living for all seasons.

Casa Rosa is the realization of the true Italy we all dream about. The property is located in the genuine Italian countryside, far enough from the major tourist centres, so that authentic Italian life can be experienced. In our little corner of Tuscany you will find the essence of Italy.

Among the rolling Tuscan hills, explore the nearby hills, fields and streams bountiful with wild-life, chestnuts, walnuts, cherries, prunes, apples, grapes, blackberries, mushrooms, rare ferns and wild flowers.
The house overlooks a small tranquil village in which its proud residents have lived for generations in their family homes. Straight and elegant cypress trees, mountain streams with rapids and waterfalls adorn this charming little Italian village. A famous Tuscan restaurant, 'Il Rifugio', that attracts patrons from Milan and Florence, is within a 5-minute walk of your holiday home. Additionally you can also eat in Caprese Michelanelo at "La Buca di Michelangelo"or "Ïl Cerro". On the Weekends the Museum Casa Natale di Michelangelo is open.

The house is surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds that provide a peaceful and secluded retreat. The natural spring fountain on the property, just outside your front door, was a source of drinking water for the villagers in the old days. The terrace is an amazingly relaxing place to sunbathe, read, have romantic meals or stargaze into the night.

There are outdoor sitting areas where you can choose to spend the time with a bottle of wine, or dine under the grapevine covered pergola.

The house is a charming Tuscan home on two levels. On the first level you will find an open kitchen with dishwasher, electric oven, gas stove, small fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, kitchen supplies, baking supplies and dishes, a wood dining table up to 4 people, on the living area you will have a double sofa, one chair, a table of chess and a wood burning stove for intimate and relaxing settings. On the upper level it is located the bedroom room with a double bed, two sofas, drawer, security box, an extra camping twin bed. The bathroom has a toilet, bidet, bath tub and hand sink. From the staircase are you will enjoy the amazing views of Michelangelo's birth home and the small village of Lama below and the vineyards.

Your vacation home is of course equipped with everything you could possibly need to feel 'right at home'. This includes a fully equipped kitchen, TV, DVD player, and WiFi Internet up to 120 GB access throughout the property.

We are centrally situated within easy access to major attractions. You can easily take day trips to Florence, Pisa, Bologna, Cortona, Siena, Perugia, Assisi, Rome, or many of the infinite charming unknown Italian villages.

At Casa Rosa, it is our goal to make your stay the most memorable possible.

Very nice quiet place to stay

We had a lovely time. The house is perfect if you want to stay in a quiet environment. The places nearby are not yet discovered by tourists. During the hot temperature of the summer the house is cool, and the garden is perfect to have a lazy afternoon. Carol and Rick are perfect hosts!

Countryside Paradise

Casa Rosa is a lovely (spacious) Italian cottage set in romantically crafted gardens. Looking out towards Caprese Michelangelo on the opposite hillside was a perfect setting. The October sun shone for most of the time & this gave our in the countryside experience a wonderful & much appreciated boost. At this time of year it’s always a lottery. We had only one rainy day in 15. The house is lovely & we arrived to find a very generous welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, bread & fruit etc. Plus a fabulous bottle of wine & Prosecco ! The bedroom is well appointed, charming & has a wonderful comfy bed (So often the ruin of a holiday rental !!). The bathroom was roomy, well appointed & boasting a powerful hot shower. For those relaxing evenings, the DVD & book collection was the best I’ve seen offered to HomeAway renters. The kitchen lounge was great & had everything we needed to make our own meals, no different from home. Everything had been thought of. The amazing log fire burner in the lounge was much needed at this time of year as the nights fell very cool. So a satisfying evening in was made complete once I’d completed the daily cleaning ritual of last nights embers & relite from the ample wood stores at the back of the house. The location in Lama May be a bit remote for some but a car rental made Anghiari, Arezzo, Cortona & Siena easily accessible. So a hire car was essential. We also parked at Arezzo & took the marvellous train service to Florence for the day, which was a great alternative. Overall, we give Casa Rosa 10/10. Thank for a wonderful home base. It couldn’t have been better. Gary & Marion

Echt heel fijn!

Picture Perfect

We were lucky enough to be able to spend three weeks at Casa Rosa and it was just the most perfect holiday. We arrived late at night to an immaculately clean, well equipped home, and a generous welcome pack providing us with supper and breakfast. The morning revealed the beautiful gardens and stunning surroundings that more than lived up to the gorgeous photographs. Sue and John do an amazing job maintaining the house and gardens and could not have been more helpful. The house has every amenity you need on a holiday, well provided with cooking equipment, washing machine, dishwasher, even barbecue tools. It is, of course, the wonderful gardens that make the place so appealing, and they even include your own freshwater spring as well as a grape vine covered pergola providing shade on those hot summer days. We loved the slow pace of life in the Tuscan hills but there was plenty of interest in the surrounding area with walking and running tracks, castles, fabulous local hill towns including our favourite Anghiari, and towns such as Arezzo, Cortona and Florence within easy driving reach. The restaurants in the area are amazing, too many to name but all that we tried were excellent. Special mention to the closest, Il Rifugio, a short walk across the back field or a slightly longer walk around by the road. This is a pearl of a place, always humming with contented customers and friendly staff. The Friday night seafood is not to be missed but you do need to book ahead for it. Our three weeks flew by and we can't wait to return.

Absolutely Fabulous in every way!

My wife and I wanted to find a romantic Italian Villa in Tuscany for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had never been to Italy and searched though dozens of properties. We found Raul, the owner, kind and prompt with our correspondence and we found John & Sue, the caretakers, patient with our many questions and grace filled with talking us through what would have been simple maneuvers for them! This villa is the perfect place to 'get away' yet is an amazing, scenic drive to any city you may want to visit. We would spend a day in Florence and return to our cozy, peaceful home in the countryside. The views and vistas are stunning! Including our new best friends the bunnies, the birds, the occasional friendly lizard, and the fish and tadpoles in the ponds. On our next visit, we will rent both of Raul's houses on the property and bring our family and friends! Grab this one as soon as possible!

Absolutely Stunning!

My fiancé and I stayed in this beautiful villa for a week this past July. Before arriving we were ecstatic to be spending a week in what seemed like a truly Tuscan villa. Upon arrival our jaws nearly dropped. The villa was not only a classic piece of art, but the entire property was gorgeous beyond belief. Words will do this place no justice, but I will definitely try. I'll begin with the villa itself, which is really the guesthouse of the entire property but it is far enough from the upper house to be entirely private. Also, for a guesthouse it was fully functional and pretty darn big. It had a full kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, and bedroom, in addition to a connected but separate room on the side that had the washer and dryer. We were greeted by the managers, Sue and John, with a beautiful welcome basket full of fruits, wine, water, beer, milk, juice, jam, butter, eggs, and so on. They were extremely kind to us and gave us a tour of the property on the first day. They were available to us throughout the week. If we had any issues they were a 15 minute phone call away and were very accommodating. Now on to the property itself. You must actually see this place to understand just how beautiful it is. It has a huge garden with some plum trees, red and black currant bushes, raspberry bushes, walnut trees, and so many beautiful flowers. Deer and rabbits often visit, which is a beautiful sight to take in. The property also has about three ponds (with three resident ducks), a vineyard, and really just a lot of greenery and wildlife - absolutely safe and just stunning. The property also comes with a house cat named Min, she is very sweet, so if you do visit please be kind to her. She is self-sufficient and lives in the outdoors, but absolutely loves human company. We would take daily strolls throughout the property and would often sit outdoors to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The village of Caprese Michelangelo is very close and so are Anghiari and Lama. There is a grocery store about a minute away with driving, that stocked the necessities. There is also a restaurant named Il Rifugio a minute away which had very friendly hosts and delicious and affordable food. Also, try Ristorante Il Cerro nearby! I know we are the only review, but that is only because we were the first renters here. Trust your gut and rent this place out! You won't be disappointed and you will be so happy that you did! I would write more, but sadly there is a limit.

Hi. We are a Colombo-American family who love to travel, meet new people, and learn about cultures. We enjoy a spiritual and simple life, being surrounded by beautiful landscapes, great wine, and delicious food. We speak fluent English and Spanish, have a decent understanding of Italian, and speak the basics

Why they chose this property

When you enter the grounds you are immediately surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the property including the beautiful landscaping, our amazing vineyard, the many different fruit trees, the olive trees, the ducks, rabbits, ponds, etc., etc. And just look up and there is the house where the famous Michelangelo was born and the amazing surrounding hills.

What makes this property unique

In this region of Tuscany, you find the Italy everyone dreams about. Of course, our amazing local restaurants serve the wonderful, reasonably priced food you expect; however, in addition, just strolling down to the local grocery store you will meet the most wonderfully genuine Italian neighbours who will be so happy to share a few words with you (in Italian of course).
