2024 Family vacay

The location was great. Away from all the tourists. Short drive to restaurants, grocery stores and activities. The location needs a few repairs. If I can also make one more recommendation? I would recommend having patio furniture in the front porch. Overall we had a great time..

Lovely home in a quiet neighborhood

My family and I had a wonderful stay. The house was perfect for my family size. Plenty of rooms, comfortable beds and spacious common area-- kitchen, dining room and living room. It was also very nice to have a large, enclosed/fenced in backyard for my dog. Our only disappointment was the house wasn't equipped with cable tv-- so couldn't access any local channels, news or the basketball game we had hoped to catch during our stay.

Awful experience

This was a terrible experience. 1. all three toilets in the house stopped working. They were both leaking and were clogged. All 12 people in the house--including one person who is pregnant--were unable to go to the bathroom.2. one of the bathtubs had backed-up sewage, including feces, in it. This was disgusting and completely unsanitary. Most of the people in our group did not feel comfortable using that entire bathroom for sanitary reasons, even after the technical problem was resolved, for the rest of the trip, so we had to share one bathroom.3. Rather than enjoying the first morning of our vacation, several members of the group had to coordinate calling the management company, waiting around for a call back, and coordinating calls with a plumber to come and fix the problems described above.4. For an entire half-day, three participants had to wait at 738 Shoshone for the plumber to arrive, had to stay at the house while the plumber was working, and were not able to leave the house until the plumber finished. The house's problems thus significantly cut into these participants' vacation time. 5. for 16 hours, all 12 residents had to share one shower, which was a significant inconvenience. 6. The television repeatedly did not work in the main room. The screen would freeze and we would have to wait for several minutes for it to refresh.

Nice and clean, easy to get to.

The property was exactly like it shows online. The few things that we felt could be improved are the beds and pillows. They aren't very comfortable. The pillows are bad( bring your own if you're staying a while) also bring your own fans. We went out and bought one because the fan was broken upstairs. Once we got the fan, it was fine. This house doesn't have AC. The last thing was the backyard isn't great either. What we did like, was the layout of the house. The linens are nice and clean. We had a plumbing issue and they had someone out to fix it very quickly. I would say this was a good place to stay with a big group.

Lovely home with big yard!

We stayed for a week at this property. The home is in a quiet neighborhood that is great for walking dogs. It was clean and well stocked. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 and a half baths on the main floor which is great for those that can't manage the stairs. The upper level has a bedroom and bathroom plus an amazing family room with extra beds and a futon. Perfect place for teenagers or a separate area for another couple./family. There are decks with seating in the front and back yards. Extremely large fenced back yard with two BBQs. Owners were responsive and have a local property management company that is available 24/7. Would highly recommend this home.!

Not what we expected

The home needed a lot of up keep. The beds were poorly made, some of the bed skirts and bed linen were stained and could use some cleaning. There were rat droppings under the kitchen sink and not all the necessary home supplies. There was no blender and no shampoo or conditioner in the bathrooms. When contacting property management to inquire about these issues they told us to deal directly with the owner. When contacting the owner via email there has yet to be a response. The post mentions that there is a creek nearby and there was no creek in sight. I must say I have rented a lot of properties in South Lake Tahoe and this property by far was very disappointing.

Great for a large group!

We had 12 people in our group and this house suited our needs perfectly. There were some plumbing issues while we stayed there but the owner and property management company were very responsive and fixed the problem same day.

Better for a winter stay than summer

The furnishings were very comfortable. The appliances were new and high end. However, the floors and carpets were in dire need of a thorough cleaning. I was not comfortable letting my grandson play on the floor. The same is true of the front and back yard decks. They have been neglected for several years. There were so many nails and large splinters in the deck and tables that we were not able to spend time outside. This would be a great ski cabin if the floors and carpets were cleaned. I would avoid renting it in the summer months.

Spacious casual comfort

This house did not disappoint. Pictures give an accurate depiction of the set up. We came to Tahoe to ski and snowshoe, but ended up spending more time indoors due to rough winter weather; so we were pleased to have two big TV's and streaming Netflix to watch the Super Bowl and keep our guests entertained. Furniture and beds were clean and comfortable. Central heating system kept the whole place warm and comfortable. We were pleased with the location. The neighborhood was quiet and well-maintained. Easy access in either direction to all kinds of outdoor adventures. If we were to pinpoint one area for improvement, it would be the kitchen. Kitchen had nice appliances, but was short on counter space and matching sets of tableware. Some of the pots and pans were well-worn and not as clean as we would have liked. Coffee pot did not function properly due to a missing lid. We also prefer glassware over plastic ware for beverages. Despite these minor issues, we thought it was a good value for the midweek rate we paid. We would rent this house again in the future.

Beautiful Spacious and Comfortable

The house was everything we hoped for. The decor was very nice, spacious leather couches, and penty of nice big comfy beds for all of us. The game room was a hit with the grandkids! Nice big dining table for meals and games. There was a LOT of snow during our stay. The backyard made a giant snow park for the kids.Be sure to bring snow toys:sleds, disks etc. if you have kids in your group. Also, the owners were quick to respond to any concerns. Heavy snow caused a brief power outage. The owner was right on it, getting information about it. Looking forward to staying again!

Perfect Stay

First of all Andy and Rachel are great hosts. Instructions for check-in and check-out was extremely easy. House accommodated my family very very well. Best part of the house is that is was not far from Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. Especially due to the weather circumstances. The beds were extremely comfortable with warm comforters and blankets. Washer and dryer were also helpful since we snowboardered that day. Provided enough supplies such as towels, toilet paper and cutlery. Definitely would stay here again with my family.

Great for multiple families and nearby Lake Tahoe

We were a party of 12 (3 families) and enjoyed our week stay at the Knotty Pine Wood House. I would actually give this 4.5 stars. The location was ideal for summer time bike rides to the river and surrounding area was close to Tahoe blvd with shopping, restaurants and grocery store nearby. It was about a half hour drive to forty five minutes to Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay and other recreational spots! The neighborhood was very peaceful. Overall the listing description was accurate, especially with the location and layout of the home. However, many small amenities were missing such as supplies from the kitchen; like a can opener, cheese grader, bottle opener and other small utensils that we needed for cooking meals. The oven worked okay but the burners were hard to gauge. We also were very limited on TP and paper towels. The overall appearance of the home was beautiful and well furnished with comfortable beds, bedding and plenty of bath towels. The backyard was not completely enclosed with what appeared to be missing a section of fencing so we had to keep our dogs tied up. It looked as though this would be fixed. The backyard needed attention to yardwork and weeding but we did like the pine picnic table on the porch. The children enjoyed the upstairs with the foosball game , a huge TV screen and they loved that they all could sleep in the same room with 3 queen size beds. The owners were very responsive to emails and friendly to our calls on a few issues that were not directly related to us but needed to be addressed. The fact that the home could accommodate so many people made it very attractive and we would consider coming back again. It was a wonderful vacation week!

Simply amazing!

Rachel and Andy were so accommodating and helpful, they responded quick and did whatever they could to help make this trip a breeze for my friends and family. We stayed here for 3 days for our annual Tahoe trip, and enjoyed snowboarding at Sierra ski resort. The place was neat, well stocked, and spotless from top to bottom when we arrived and all the bedding, extra blankets, and towels were thoroughly washed which made my germ phobic self at ease. The outside didn't look like much but the inside of the house was modern with updated appliances and easily fit us 14 adults. Everyone really enjoyed the foosball table and the spacious backyard covered in soft snow at the moment. With 7 queen sized beds and two futon beds, everyone was absolutely comfy, no complaints for once! We would love stay here again and I definitely recommend this place for large families or for a group of friends, it is well priced for such a beautiful home.

Cozy Tahoe cabin, close to town and not too far from major ski resorts

This cabin was perfect for our family: clean, cozy, well-furnished, and in a great location. Plenty of beds for everyone to sleep comfortably as well. The check-in and check-out process was also very simple. Andy and Rachel were great hosts and easy to communicate with before and during our stay. Overall, would highly recommend this property!

We love mountain hiking, biking, and winter skiing. We can share this beautiful house with our guests who also love spending some time relaxing in South Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe vacation home rental permit number: 2130

Why they chose this property

We love snow, mountain and ski. More importantly, we feel the forest is the place we feel relaxing. We also want the place with larger space and all the modern convenience like good heating, high speed internet, TV, close to good restaurant, close to good bar, close to freeway to get in and out. We renovated this house with solid red oak flooring throughout, with solid pine panel on all the walls, with the newest and comfortable bathtub and toilet, sinks, with new kitchen cabinets, and new refrigerator, and more importantly, all new comfortable furniture. With all these improvements, this house became our dream place for relax and enjoyment.

What makes this property unique

We traveled the world many times and stayed in many places in the past. I always come back to this house. In this house, in windy days, you can hear the forest singing. In quiet days, you can feel the silence of the universe. I walk on the beautiful trails in the dense forested bank of the Upper Truckee River just two blocks behind our house. I can get to the skiing slope in 15 minutes in winter time and go to a nice restaurant or bar in 10 minutes anytime. I can also walk on the scenery Lake Tahoe shore in 10 minutes time if I want. That is what I liked this house.
