This is a lovely well equiped property situated in a quiet area close enough to local shops to walk (through the beautiful vin yards) and beaches only a relatively short drive through lovely scenery. We had a wonderful time and would recommend to anyone. The host was very approachable and easily contactable

It was exactly what we had been hoping for and we were not disappointed.
It was exactly in the right area that we knew. The property had everything that a family could need, including useful information for the area. We hopefully will return and of course, recommend it to our friends.

Lovely quiet location, well equipped gite - great for exploring the area.
The gite has everything you need for your stay. The hamlet is in a lovely quiet location in a beautiful area. Great countryside for cycling - the bikes are all in a great condition (a bonus when compared with other places we've stayed!!) Maggie was most helpful prior to our stay - many thanks. While there are mosquitoes (referred to by others, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered mentioning them!) as it's relatively close to the estuary, they're easily manageable and certainly didnt cause us a problem (they usually love me!) Overall, a great place to stay! Thanks, Maggie

A perfect hideaway easily accessible to resorts
Despite the inclement February weather we spent a lovely two weeks exploring fabulous locations along the Gironde estuary. La Maison Fleury is spacious, clean cottage with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. It is tucked away in a quiet peaceful hamlet typical of the area, surrounded by fields and views of the Gironde estuary. We purchased some delicious local wine from the vineyard next door and visited the lovely Chateau Beaulon a few minutes drive away where you can book a wine tasting tour of the vineyard. The local village is 15 minute walk from the cottage, with it's friendly bar and shops. You do need a car but are within easy access of the beaches of Meschers, St George de Didonne and the larger resort of Royan. We enjoyed excellent food at many of the port side cafes in Meschers and Mortagne, visited the restaurant Chez Gigi a couple of times, a 10 minute drive away in the lovely old port town of Mortagne sur Gironde. Spent a day exploring the sites and shops in Bordeaux and another in Blaye with it's medieval Citadel, both easy to get to and about an hour's drive away. It's perfect for those who like to experience the hustle and bustle of a resort or busy town during the day, or cycle around the quiet country lanes exploring the many typically French villages in the area but then escape to the peaceful hamlet to sip wine in the garden as the sun is setting.

A week in sunny Civrac
Together with another couple we spent a week at La Maison Fleurie in September 2014. A comprehensive list of instructions to find the gite by car was provided by the owner and upon arrival we were welcomed by a vase of flowers and a couple of bottles of wine. The gite was spacious , clean , comfortable and very well equipped . It was situated in a quiet area within a small village. We found that the information given on the website and contained in the owner's brochure gave a true picture of the property, its environment and nearby facilities. There were numerous restaurants of all types in the area most of which, however, required a car to access. During our stay we visited Royan on several occasions and found it to be a charming seaside town with several good beaches, our favourite being Le Grand Cote to the north side of the town with adequate parking and restaurants nearby. We also went Blay approx. 40/50 minutes by car to the south of the gite and had a fascinating time exploring the large fort there. If we had gone earlier we would have considered crossing the estuary by ferry to explore the Medoc area. We also visited the interesting fishing vlilages/towns of Port Maubert and Meschers. An added bonus to the Maison Fleurie is that a vineyard is situated nearby where one can (and we did!) purchase good wine and homemade honey at reasonable prices. During our stay we were fortunate in having the gite's owner staying in the house next door - she was very friendly without being intrusive and made us very welcome giving us produce from her garden and allowing us to raid her fig tree for ripe fruit. We certainly enjoyed our sojourn in Civrac and would definitely recommend La Maison Fleurie to anyone but with a proviso that car is necessary.

A great Gite
We had a lovely time staying at Dick and Maggies Gite, the location was excellent with lots of sun in the morning for breakfast in the garden. The kitchen and bathroom were fully stocked and there was an excellent welcome pack with great recommendations for things to do and places to see. The bikes and boule set were a great surprise! The only negative was that the cleaner turned up at 10 on the day we were leaving when we thought it would be 12. This meant a rather hurried pack up! Thanks again and we would definitely reccomend this Gite to others.

I live in Harringworth, Northamptonshire, in a pretty stone village. ! My husband and I owned bathroom and kitchen showrooms in Stamford , Lincolnshire, before we retired. We and our family of two sons, two daughter-in-laws and four lovely grand daughters have spent , and still do, very many happy holidays in Civrac.
Sadly I was widowed over 5 years ago but now am in a new happy relationship. I’m pleased that he loves Civrac as much as I do !

Why they chose this property

My husband and I bought our lovely Civrac properties in 1994 and lived during holiday times in the Gite, which had already been renovated by the then local baker, whilst we renovated the main house.
We like having so many beautiful beaches just a short drive away and it’s great to have a choice of interesting towns to visit. This area is a easy drive from St Malo or Caen and is well served with flights to Bordeaux or La Rochelle.

What makes this property unique

We chose this part of France for its excellent good weather record and fell in love with the fabulous views from the property. The main house was an absolute wreck but we could see the potential.
