About this property

Charming 2 bed 2 bath house with stunning views and plunge pool (10x8x5)

Casa Carmen is peacefully located in the middle of the vibrant white village of Gaucin (close to the shops and restaurants) with stunning views across the mountains to Gibraltar and North Africa.
It is a traditional 3 storey character village property with architect-designed modern/original interior features. There are two main double bedrooms on the second floor, one en-suite with walk-in shower and the other served by a separate family bathroom with bath - all with modern suites and a contemporary polished cement finish. On the third floor is a double pull-out sofa bed for two further guests.
The ground floor comprises an open plan dining, lounge and stylish kitchen area leading through French doors and steps up to a two-tier terrace. On the first level is a delightfully planted terrace with sun loungers, Mexican chiminea, outdoor table with parasol seating 4-8 and an open shower. More steps lead up to a striking new plunge pool (10x8x5) with stunning views down the mountains to the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and North Africa. The entire property has a mix of chic ceiling/floor lights and subtle tile-encased ambient lights. On the third floor the small sitting/sleeping area opens out, through French doors, on to a large terraced balcony with magnificent views of the Genal Valley down to the coast and across the red-tiled village roofs. This terrace provides another ideal outdoor dining area.
The lounge boasts a large fireplace and flat screen TV, DVD player with HDMi cable connection to your laptop for viewing Netflix etc and Bose speakers with adapter for your smartphone music. (No SKY or terrestrial channels but a selection of DVD movies)
This delightful house is located in a quiet part of the village and yet on the doorstep of all amenities, including a small supermarket, countless classic Spanish tapas bars and fantastic restaurants offering modern and traditional cuisine.
To the north, the dramatic 15th century mountain top city of Ronda with Spain's oldest bullring, is only a memorable 40 minute drive away, while to the south, the Mediterranean coast/beaches including Marbella, Puerto Banus and Estepona are but 25-45 minutes away.

Tranquilidad, excelentes vistas y buena comida.

Stunning Mountain Getaway
Mike & Melissa’s place is beautiful inside and out. The plunge pool on the back patio has the most beautiful views. The apartment itself is very well equipped and comfortable, with great wifi. Would absolutely return to spend another week in the future. Many thanks!

Amazing town
Property was wonderful - plunge pool has the most breathtaking views. And even though we were here in October, the pool provided a refreshing dip at the end of a busy day. Kiko the manager was great, he sorted out a problem within minutes; and Mike is a great host. This is a beautiful house in the prettiest of towns. If you’re not used to narrow streets and vertiginous roads, make sure you hire a small car! The drive is well worth it. And you must go to Ronda, too. Can easily recommend this property, you’ll have a great time.

Vielen Dank!

Beautifully located spacious town house
Casa Carmen is in a lovely part of town affording stunning vistas from its front and back private terraces and plunge pool. The renovated old house is spacious and well equipped and a short walk to a few nice bars, restaurants and shops of laid back and friendly Gaucín. Owner Mike responds quickly and positively and local Kiko is on hand for any issues or advice needed. Thanks for a good relaxing stay.

Chill-out Perfection
My wife and I stayed here for two weeks. Whether you wish to use this delightful home as a base to explore, or simply chill out with a book and a bottle of plonk on the secluded terraces at the back of the house, Casa Carmen ticks all the boxes. Gaucín has a good choice of eating places and well stocked food shops, all within easy walking distance, even for those of us who are far gone in age and decrepitude. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay for another month.

Great break
The house gets most big things very right and made for a really good base. Gaucin is as wonderful as my first visit 30 years ago and I’ll definitely be returning to the village soon. Thank you!

Highly recommended - pretty village, stunning home!
We stayed at Casa Carmen for a week and really loved our time there. Mike has created a truly beautiful home. It is clean, tastefully decorated and equipped with every thing one could need. The highlight has to the amazing plunge pool and terraces, where we spent many hours drinking in the views. The village of Gaucín itself is charming - with some lovely restaurants and very friendly locals. Location wise it’s perfect for day trips to Ronda and the coast; as well as many other pretty local villages and mountain hikes. To note, although the streets are a little narrow, we managed in our Vauxhall Mokka! Parking wasn’t an issue either - with lots of spaces only a short walk away. We had a really lovely time and are genuinely sad to leave, but go with some lovely memories. Thank you Mike for sharing your home!!

A recommander ! Merci

Perfect village home
We visit Gaucin e very year. It is a beautiful pueblo blanco with stunning views. Mikes house is very well done and good value. My husband and I stayed here with our 3 kids and an extra one! The two 13 year old girls shared the attic room which was a pullout double sofa and they had the bonus of a fab terrace. 2 boys shared a double room and my husband and I another double with our own (essential) bathroom. The house is decorated in a simple but very stylish way and the terrace and pool are wonderful. We would sit in the pool in the evening when the sun had warmed the pool looking over the rooftops to Africa, pretty perfect. The house has everything you need and WiFi for the kids. I would take Mikes advice and park in a spot away from the house unless you have a small car. Our ‘bus’ and lack of skill caused us to decide that the couple of minutes walk was by far the sensible option!! - top tip if you have kids is the large village municipal pool which costs one euro and is very well kept. There are some great restaurants but we often end up at Antonia’s in the village square and the kids loved going along there alone and the family welcomed them and introduced them to their kids. This is a wonderful house to enjoy this beautiful friendly village. We will definitely stay again xxx

Gaucin is a small und beautiful village with really friendly people. There are some nice restaurants and shops with everthing you need. The communication with the owner Mike and the house manager Kiko was great aswell. Overall we can totally recommend a stay here. We definitly want to come back one day.

Fabulous 2 weeks in cute house.
My husband and I spent a wonderful 2 weeks at Casa Carmen. It is situated in the centre of Gaucin within easy reach of shops, bars and restaurants. It is really well equipped and comfortable, with some lovely sunny outside space. The pool on the top patio is a real bonus (the views were out of this world!). The local chap who looks after the house, Kiko, is really friendly. He popped round to look after the outside areas and to check that everything was ok with the house. Even though he didn't speak English, we managed to communicate quite nicely. He always arranged a convenient time to call round and was really unobtrusive. We will definitely be returning to Gaucin, and would definitely stay at Casa Carmen.

Lovely home in great location
Myself and my 2 children (aged 10 and 14) have recently returned from Casa Carmen. The pictures are accurate and the villa is clean and comfortable. The pool is essential. It is small but private and the views are incredible. The steps both inside and outside make the house unsuitable for young children but the owner's details advise this. The patio area beneath the pool is lovely for lounging and eating outside. The balcony at the front of the property off the top bedroom also makes a lovely place to sit. The village is friendly and has everything you need for food shopping, bars and restaurants so you do not need to leave if you don't want to. I drove from Malaga airport and was surprised at how easy it is was a novice overseas driver. Ronda and the coast are an easy drive in well under an hour. But was always nice to come home to Gaucin. Parking is perhaps the only negative but we were always able to park nearby. We would recommend this property.

Magnificent and cozy house in a lovely village
My English could be better. So here just some notes: The house: in a quiet, small alley, but everything (restaurants, supermarkets) within easy walking distance. The equipment and furniture: modern, stylish and convenient. There is nothing “outdated” or “raddled”. The “specials”: two terraces, one on the front side, one on the back side. And: a few steps up, the plunge pool ! Sunlight until 8.30 p.m., stunning view, even to Gibraltar. It`s the perfect place to cool down on a hot day or warm evening. The owner: nice and helpful, quick and easy to get in touch with. In advance he sends suggestions for restaurants and opportunities to take breakfast and detailed instructions for the way to Gaucin. Preparation couldn`t be better. The house manager: as well nice and helpful with a warm welcome. She conveys a sense of “now you can enjoy your holidays”. The village: not overcrowded by tourists, but with a really good variety of restaurants, tapas bars and small shops. We`ve missed nothing. Really nice inhabitants. There was always a “buenas tardes” or “hola” to hear on our stroll through Gaucin. My suggestions: three minutes walking from the house, there is a cemetery. It`s a very peaceful and “special” location at the bottom of the mountain of “Castillo del Aguila”. And the village of Ronda, 40 minutes driving, is – of course – a “must see”.

Amazing house in a perfect place
We absolutely loved our stay at this amazing house. Loved the design of the house itself, perfectly furnished and stylish. Most of all we loved the different terraces including the top terrace plunge pool with stunning views. In the heart of the village but peaceful and not overlooked. Details sent through by the owner in advance gave really easy to follow directions and lots of top tips for places to eat. Can't recommend this highly enough. Many, many thanks. We hope to be back soon. Lucy and Simon

Hello there! Thanks for looking at our house!
I am a Brit with Latin blood - my mother was from Colombia but I was brought up and educated in the UK. My family has had a long association with the Costa del Sol as my British grandfather and Colombian grandmother retired there in the 60s. After a superb holiday in Gaucin with my wife and daughter in 1999 I promised myself that one day I would own a holiday home there! Finally 4 years ago I achieved my goal. This is our holiday home and hopefully yours too if you decide to book. If there is anything more you wish to know or would like to have available at the property let me know. We want you to have a fabulous time as we do when we visit. Our housekeepers, Kiko and Manolí, will also be on hand during your stay for any help, support or information you may require.

Why they chose this property

With my Latin background I wanted to be somewhere that still retained a Spanish authenticity and feel to it, but that also inspired me by its location and ambience. Gaucin, in my opinion, is the perfect blend. The views across the mountains and to the sea are stupendous. It is far enough away from the coast to be able to keep its character and yet close enough for shopping/beach visits. There are many ex-pats both living and renting in and around the village but also a large proportion of locals that have kept the Spanish traditions and amenities. Once you arrive in Gaucin everywhere is accessible on foot, if a little hilly in places, but then I love the exercise and atmosphere!
