Wonderful cottage, stunning garden, so relaxing.
We have been staying at Wraycroft Cottages every year since 2008 and the fact that we return every year speaks volumes as to what a pleasure it is to stay here. It simply feels like home from home.
Our latest stay here has been no exception. Although the inclement weather precluded us from going on many of the superb and varied walks around the area, the first-class facilities and home comforts within this cosy cottage made no difference to our overall enjoyment. The cottage is warm and well built and is well appointed, maintained and clean. There is an inviting front porch, the lounge, bedrooms and bathroom are spacious and homely, the kitchen is well designed and has all the equipment you need - everything from a washing machine to a tin opener is available. I cannot think of one single thing that is lacking. There is also ample parking.
If that isn’t enough, the views from the lounge are outstanding. There is a patio replete with a bench and chairs outside, which leads down to the wonderful huge garden. The garden is a result of many years of labour by the owners and it is a delight to explore and be in. There are numerous benches to sit at and take in the views, a really nice pond further down and then the garden slopes all the way down to the River Swale where you can sit and take it all in. From the lounge and the garden, you also have the bonus of the views of the hills in the distance.
Reeth itself provides excellent amenities, including three pubs (wonderful real ales and good food), cafes, a Post Office, shops, a garage, hairdresser, museum, bakery, craft shops and much more besides – all just two minutes’ walk from the cottage. Also, as mentioned before, there are numerous walks from the doorstep that provide you with many miles of walking amidst stunning scenery. It is testament to how nice it is here that we never used the car during our two-week stay.
Finally, the family who own the cottages are exceedingly friendly and approachable and it is nice to have got to know them over the years. They make a relaxed stay here even more relaxing.
I cannot recommend Wraycroft Cottages highly enough. The fact that we, and others, keep returning says it all.
