About this property

Cottage in pretty village, easy access to Exeter, Torquay + coast + countryside

Cherry Tree Cottage is a charming cobb cottage in a village setting, in the heart of the Kenn Valley, and only 5 miles from the city of Exeter. The convenient location, just off the A38/A380 "Crossroads to Devon", gives easy access in any direction - the coast within (15 minutes) inc Torquay, the Exe Estuary Cycling and Walking trails (which runs from Dawlish up to Exeter and Topsham and onto Exmouth), the East for the Jurassic Coast (15 minutes), the stunning Dartmoor National Park (20 minutes), the stunning Teign Valley (15 minutes), The English Riviera, Torquay and Paignton (25 minutes), Plymouth (25 Minutes) and North Devon (1 hour), etc.
The property has 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 single (sleeps 3). It has an Inglenook fireplace and Woodburning stove , a Rangemaster cooker to complete the beautiful homely country kitchen/diner, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is underfloor heating in the stylish travertine wet room. The hand-made oak staircase is a particular feature of the property. There is a peaceful and pretty cottage garden where you can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine!
The village boasts a friendly and well stocked shop and a village bar (both 100 metres from the door), and just a mile away is the Ley Arms, a 12th Century thatched pub.

Great cottage and location to explore Devon and Cornwall
Such a pretty part of UK and the cottage had everything we needed. Friendly and helpful people in village happy to share their local knowledge. Good food at 7 Star Pub and well stocked grocery store a few steps away. Very comfortable place to relax in. Plenty of hot water and easy to use home. Close and easy access to major roads. Park and Ride used for a visit to Exeter City Christmas markets. Village church in Kenn, just behind Kennford, is worth a visit too. Jacqui was so helpful and responded to our queries immediately and had some sweet gingerbread home made treats ready for us on our arrival. Thanks Jacqui!

Amazing house and location
This is a lovely cottage located in a fantastic village with direct link to A38 but you feel a million miles away from a minor route. The house wax clean, well equipped, felt homely with a touch of luxury. Beds were very comfortable, with second bedroom suitable for a child or adult. Lovely garden for sitting out. Host was helpful and easy to contact. The village has a great local shop and lovely pub with very friendly locals and staff and amazing food - you must try. We will stay again!

Absolutely delightful!
I stayed here with my sister as we were going to Toby's Garden Festival at Powderham Castle. It was an ideal location and even though it was on the main road through the village it was still very quiet. It was handy having the local shop very nearby. The cottage had everything we needed and is very well laid out.Jacqui had left a cream tea for us to have on arrival - delicious! It was lovely to be able to sit out in the garden in the evening too. We met Jacqui when we collected the key and throughout our stay she was easy to contact and she made sure everything was ok for us. Jacqui and Paul had put together a box full of information about places to visit and walks to do - and there are plenty - which was really useful. We used one of the walk books and did a delightful walk around Lustleigh - highly recommend. We hope to return as this was such a gem. We would certainly recommend it.

Perfect base to explore south Devon
Both my friend and I felt very comfortable at Cherry Tree Cottage. It had everything we needed (as described in the listing) and made the perfect base for exploring the area. Jacqui and Paul are clearly very experienced hosts who've thought of every detail. I'm very happy with this find on VRBO and would highly recommend it.

Paul and I have been lucky enough to live in Devon for most of our lives. I have lived in Kennford for 13 years - we live together now - just up the road! I most recently worked as a PA and Paul is our sound Accountant! We love being outdoors exploring the countryside, either on foot or on our bikes, and know that we have the very best on our doorstep. The Kenn Valley is stunning and we regularly enjoy a bike ride along the Exe Estuary trail or escaping to Dartmoor National Park for a walk and a picnic (just 20 minutes away). The city of Exeter has a lovely feel and there is of course lots to see and do. We also love to pop down to Topsham (the old Port). We hope you will feel free to enjoy the many walks and cycle rides we have left in the comprehensive welcome/visitor information pack so that you make the very best of your stay (we have done your homework for you!)

Why they chose this property

We do love the village. It has everything we need - with a great local shop, some great pubs and a village bar, but at the same time we are just a 10 miles from the coast and 15 miles from Dartmoor. We will never tire of this area, so we have decided to stay put and buy a holiday home so that you can get a taste of the good life!

What makes this property unique

When we saw the cottage we fell in love with it as it is just so characterful, but immaculate. It has the most beautiful handmade staircase and we love the exposed beams. It is a perfect combination of old meets new - with the stylish shower room, inglenook fireplace and beautiful oak staircase.
