Sinalunga is a great place to stay, we were greeted by Daniel who made us feel at home very quickly. Nothing was too much trouble. During our stay hebooked restaurants, researched trains, parking places and even a running route for me. He printed off vouchers etc for when we were going on day trips. He was fantastic, but also unobtrusive!
The setting is beautiful with a view across the fields, the farmhouse is at the base of the hill that the old town is set upon. the "new" town spreads out from there with good supermarkets shops and general amenities in easy reach. Of note there is an outlet village quite nearby which has all the major brand names at not unreasonable prices if you feel the need.
Life in the farmhouse apartment was very peaceful and comfortable, the Air-conditioning worked very well, and we needed it as temperatures hit 40°plus during our stay. We cooked regularly on the BBQ which was very easy to get going. Daniel provided lump wood charcoal etc and he cleaned it out each morning ready for use the following evening. We did not avail ourselves of the wood fired pizza oven but Daniel was very happy to get this going for us if we had wanted it.
The swimming pool was fantastic, well maintained , clean and thankfully cool, though during the heatwave the pool Temp naturally crept up. it is quite a large pool with a shallow and deep end. The pool area was clean and regularly tidied with good poolside furniture to sun ourselves and read our books etc.
The location is great for exploring the area as we were able to drive very easily to Pisa, Florence, San Gimignano and Siena. We did much more exploring than we had planned but we were very glad we did, then we were able tom back "home" to cool off in the pool prior to our BBQ Dinner. We also had one overnight trip to Venice which was a 4 hour drive away staying in an Air BNB 5 minutes walk from the Basilica booked the day before. staying overnight meant we were able to explore after dark when the cruise ship tourists had gone!
We ate out twice at the restaurant recommended by Daniel, Due Apostole, part of a restaurant and wine bar collection based in La Fratta, a large farm 2 kilometres from the town, all local produce in the restaurant. very nice food and a lovely evening setting. (Bring mosquito spray though).
We had a lovely 2 weeks and I would recommend this place to anyone. We wish Daniel well for the future of this great spot.
