Awesome Property

I had the privilege of staying at this awesome condo in downtown Victoria for a business conference. The location was ideal, only about a block to The convention centre and a short walk to any of the downtown hotels. The apartment was well stocked and had everything we needed without being cluttered. The beds were clean and comfortable. The building is secure and very well maintained. The property managers were helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Great place to stay

The apartment is very much as shown and described. Very comfortable and clean, centrally situated so perfect for tourists in Victoria wanting to visit the main attractions, shop, and eat out. The best feature of this place is the terrace. It is huge for the location and faces east south and west faces so it is great all day. The apartment is well equipped but a dining table on the terrace would be a nice addition. Rod and Melissa were very professional and provided exemplary assistance in all steps involved.

Wow! Just Wow!

The Terrace Suite is an absolutely lovely condo in the best possible location in downtown Victoria. We researched properties for weeks last August before deciding on the Terrace Suite for our 6-week winter vacation, and what a wonderful choice we made. We loved being on the main floor (no elevator needed) and the condo's spacious private terrace was such an improvement over a typically tiny high rise balcony. The trees behind the terrace, which had bare branches when we arrived in February, gradually produced a profusion of beautiful pink and white magnolia blossoms. What a treat! All of downtown Victoria is just steps away, and Victoria's excellent public transit system provides access to every possible destination outside the downtown core. (There is an underground parking space included with the condo, but we never felt the need to rent a car.) Over the years, my husband and I have rented a wide variety of vacation properties all along the east coast, from Maine to Florida, some through real estate agents, or rental agents, or, more recently, through VRBO. We have never found a property so fully and beautifully equipped nor a management team so thoughtful and responsive. A carefully prepared guidebook supplies tons of useful information about everything from the condo's appliances to the compost/trash/recycling process. All of the items I usually need to bring on vacation or buy (extra hangers, spices, food wrap, etc.) were generously supplied, and Melissa and Rod were readily available by phone when questions arose. For comfort and convenience in downtown Victoria, you really can't beat the Terrace Suite. But even if you are thinking of renting a smaller (or larger) apartment in downtown Victoria, I urge you to choose among the City Life Suites properties and you will not be disappointed. We have only been back home a few days, and we are already looking forward to our next visit!

Perfect stay in Victoria

Melissa and Rod are welcoming and professionals. Condo was as advertised. Clean, comfortable and stocked. Location was within walking distance to James Bay, Johnson St Bridge, Public Market, and of course museum and inner harbor. Building is well maintained and common areas are spotless. Amazing condo in an amazing location.

Rod and Melissa are exceptional property managers. They were quick to respond to any questions we had and were always available. They have equipped this condo with everything you could ever want. Excellent kitchen, and every space in the condo is conveniently and effectively utilized. It was in a perfect location for us to walk to anywhere and we always felt very safe. Unfortunately for us it is a well sought after condo but hopefully we will get another chance to rent it again in the near future. We loved Victoria and we will be back.

A Gem in Victoria

My wife and I recently spent six weeks in the Astoria Terrace Suite, and I would highly recommend it to anybody contemplating a visit to Victoria. Even before we got to Victoria, Rod and Melissa were extremely professional in their dealings with us. The queries we had about the condo were promptly answered by email and the entire booking process was simple and efficient. We got to Victoria quite late, but Rod was there waiting at the condo (we have had experiences where we had to wait for the owner/manager of the condo/apartment) and he showed us everything we needed to know. In addition, they provided a binder to which we could refer for help. And when we did need to reach them (for example, over a minor problem with cable access), Rod or Melissa always answered the phone, even after normal work hours. Before our arrival we let them know that my wife has allergies to scented products, and we asked that no scented products be used to clean the condo and to avoid room deodorizers. When we arrived we found that non-scented cleaning products had been provided to us. The condo has a fantastic terrace, which is a major reason why we chose it, but we did mention to Rod and Melissa that while there was ample patio furniture, there was no dining table and chairs that would have allowed for outdoor dining. We arrived at the condo late Thursday, and Saturday morning Rod delivered an outdoor dining table and four chairs! Apart from the wonderful manner in which we were treated by Rod and Melissa, the condo itself was perfect. The building is immaculate and the condo is as attractive as the photos depict. It is spacious (one night we had six for a sit-down dinner) and well furnished. The location could not be better (a five minute walk to the Visitor Information Centre and the Inner Harbour; the Empress Hotel is visible from the terrace), with two supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries and liquor stores within easy walking distance. We took in three theatre performances while there, and all three were within easy walking distance. In short, the Terrace Suite is the best vacation rental we have ever stayed at.

Perfect Location

The apartment turned out to be quite a gem. It had everything you could ask for. The beds were comfortable. The living area was roomy. The kitchen had everything we needed. The deck was awesome. The weather was great during our visit so we got much use out of the deck. As for the location of the apartment, it was absolutely perfectly situated in the middle of all our interests. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance (the bus to Butchart Gardens was a short walk). It made it easy for us to explore the area to find the best shops and restaurants, of which there are plenty to choose from. Rod and Melissa were very helpful. Rod showed us around the facility, and told us were to get groceries and other nearby things to do. We knew if we had any issues (we did not) they would be there for us. In summary, a beautiful location in a beautiful city. We will definitely be back!

Outstanding experience!

We were so happy with the rental and highly recommend it. The apartment felt like a home-away-from-home. It is beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture and pillows and even a throw blanket. The television is af high quality and easy to use, which was important for watching championship basketball! The patio is wonderful with a chaise and other seating options. A real bonus to the experience. While the apartment is on the first floor, the side of the building where the apartment is has a "lower" floor so once in the apartment one is not on the first floor, meaning that a stranger cannot look in at you in the apartment or on the patio. There is total privacy. The apartment is also way off the lobby so we heard absolutely no lobby noise. The kitchen is perfectly equipped with pots, pans, spices, knives, plates etc so we were able to cook some delicious meals and heat up left-overs. There's a washer/dryer and two bathrooms with showers. A parking space if you have a car. The location is perfection! One block from the Empress Hotel and a few blocks from the Inner Harbour. We felt so lucky to be staying there. Melissa was so friendly and helpful during the process and during check-in. We recommend a million percent.

Just like the pictures!

We took the airport shuttle from the airport and it let us off 1/2 block from the Astoria. Melissa met us and took us to the condo, helped set up the WIFI and showed us the apartment amenities. The unit was perfect for the three of us, right on the ground level from Fairfield Road. The walk to the inner harbour is quite easy. We shopped at the Market on Yates which can be walked to, although we took a taxi. A car really is not necessary, we took the water taxi to Fisherman's Wharf (great fun), could walk to the BC museum/IMAX, caught the bus up Douglas to the shopping centre, took a city bus tour from the Empress, which we could see from our terrace, and could have taken a bus to Buchart Gardens from the Empress as well. Melissa had put milk and bread in the fridge as well as fresh fruit on the counter for us, which was a totally unexpected pleasure. We would certainly entertain the thought of returning to the Astoria in the future, we were delighted with the professionalism of Melissa and Rod in all aspects of planning the trip. We wish them well in their business.

Warm and Inviting

Our personal choices for a getaway are great beds (which they were) and a well equipped kitchen (which it was). The whole week was fun for my sister and brother-in-law who walked all around the area enjoying the gardens, well kept homes and then returning to the comfort of The Astoria where I fed them from the beautiful kitchen. I enjoyed my small walks from the unit to the waterfront, museum, and bus trips around the beautiful Victoria area. We would go back in a minute to stay at the Astoria. Melissa is the best greeter we have met and explained the unit amenities, the Victoria. Area, and Rod was friendly and efficient when there was a light bulb issue. We appreciated the fruit selection when we arrived. Melissa thinks of everything. Well worth the time we were there.

Great stay!

Clean, well appointed and fantastic location, this condo unit was perfect for our stay. We could walk to good restaurants and bars and the harbour is only 2 blocks away. It is always nice to go into a rental that has been so obviously been cared for. If you want to explore Victoria, this unit is a gem.

Great place

This place is very clean, feels new, and very well appointed with all that we needed for our weeks stay. The coffee maker doesn't have an auto-timed-turnoff...so be careful to end your coffee making properly. The main building is very secure and requires a fob for entry. Two things to know: 1) the building is not air conditioned, there was only one August afternoon that we were a little uncomfortable. 2) the city wakes up early...your windows are open and slam-bam, the 5:45 am trash trucks are noisy. I loved the location and the city. We are going back!!
