No refund for security deposit

I am still waiting for security deposit after several contacts with the owner. Stayed at the house in September and it is now December! Still waiting- House was a bit creepy. It had strange viewpoint windows into bedrooms and shower. Needs clean furniture.

Great location, but not super clean.

Location of this property could not be any better! Thankful the yard was fenced in for the safety of our dog. Very thankful to be able to share vacation with our dog. Walking to Main St and to beach was a huge plus! Spent a lot of time in backyard, however, bbq tools looked very old and rusty so we didn’t grill. Yard was overgrown and VERY close to neighbors. Love the charm of this old house, but not very clean. Lots of spider webs and musty smell on most furniture. Both bathrooms were tight, especially the 1/2 bath. Didn’t think outdoor shower was all that. Was told a repair man was coming to fix dryer as we driving down to the rental, and I was told it wouldn’t interrupt our stay. Repair man came earlier than expected and owner asked us to stay in the rental til he was gone. Only about 30 min, but not the very first thing I wanted to do after unpacking.

Great location!

I was nervous about booking this house since the listing was relatively new with no reviews yet, and the information listed was a bit confusing. But I knew the location would be amazing and at the price that we paid for it was a great pick! The house is about 200 years old but renovated. All the bedrooms are huge - 2 rooms upstairs and 1 downstairs, all with AC units and queen size beds. The half bathroom right outside the downstairs bedroom is very tiny/tight but was nice to have. There's a dining table right next to the kitchen, as well as another one in the front of the house, each table seats about 4 people. I wish there was a bigger table in the front of the house because if you have more than 4 people (we had 6), we had to move the bench over to the front side so we could all have breakfast together every morning, and we could barely fit everything on it. We made it work - but it would have been nice to have more room. There were a lot of food, drinks and condiments in the main fridge - so unless you want a particular brand/type of condiment, there's no need to bring your own. If you are going to do some cutting - bring your own knife! I could not cut a watermelon with the knife that was there, it was the dullest knife i've ever had to work with and I almost cut myself several times because of it. There's a regular coffee pot as well as a Keurig, which I wish was listed because then we would have brought our own k-cups. Another thing is that I wish there was sugar and sugar substitutes available - I personally don't use any sugar in my coffee or tea but i know most people do... we ended up just buying some and left them there. Also, bring paper towels and toilet paper because even though there are some there - they will not last you the entirety of your stay and they kind of have a "use and replace" policy. Same thing with the charcoal grill available out in the backyard - bring your own charcoal! The reason I'm only giving it 4 stars is because it wasn't as clean as I would have liked it to be. We had to wash all the glasses and dishes prior to using because they looked dirty, the place smelled a bit musty...etc. They do have linens for the beds but I would highly recommend bringing your own. The house was super close (2min walk) to the main street where all the shops and restaurants were - we had a great time and would stay again!

Perfect location & quirky, Better than pictured!

We really enjoyed our stay at this quirky & cute original fisherman’s house, right off of Falmouth’s Main Street! The location could not be beat, it is charming, and the space was good for me and my 3 teens. The kitchen was very functional and allowed us to gather & play games. We did use the pull out loveseat/ sleeper, which was a nice bonus, and we did try a bottle of wine that was there, but it was spoiled, so we didn’t replace it. It is so not cookie cutter and the upper 2 bedrooms took some getting used to (and my 6 ft son hit his head a few times) but the AC worked well and we each had our own space so it worked out. The outside shower needed some clean up to make it useable, and some of sheets could use some updating, but it was convenient to have the washer & dryer there (in the basement). The outside area was cute, especially the party lights, and the flower boxes on the house were beautiful. We enjoyed our walks to town, and the beach, and loved being close to the bike trail, and exploring most of the Cape & Martha’s Vineyard (check times/options & plan ahead so you can walk to the ferry or walk to the parking area). We were pleased with all of the places we ate in town, especially Pickle Jar kitchen, Ben & Bill’s chocolate emporium (so close! had to try the lobster ice cream but was good with just the sample) and even Simply Divine pizza (good soups & salads & pizza) Overall, a wonderful stop! Thank you Michael for your hospitality!

Location can't be beat!

The best part of staying at this property is the location - 1/2 mile or 10-minute walk to the beach, a 1-minute walk to Main Street in Falmouth with all the restaurants, parks, and shopping. It is also easy to access the bike trail, where we walked/ran every day. We had a 20-minute walk to the ferry that took us to Martha's Vineyard. The house itself is as described - a historic property, more or less comfortable for us as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids, plus our dog.) The ceilings, especially on the 2nd floor, are quite low. It was okay for our kids, but my husband (6 feet tall) had to crouch down. Luckily, there was the 3rd bedroom downstairs that worked well for us grown-ups. There could be more attention to detail regarding cleaning, especially around the corners, behind and under the sofas and beds, etc. Overall, a fun place to stay and location is fantastic!

Covid ready cleaning

Owner is withholding deposit for cracked tile in bathroom. We did not crack any tiles. In fact we spent hours cleaning when we arrived. Cat hair (we are allergic), tampon under bed, mold in air conditioner, refrigerator water dispenser and ice maker didn’t work. He charged extra cleaning for covid ready. That was a joke.

Great Stay July 2020

We were seeking a home that was big enough for our family and offered an ideal location for walking to the beach and biking around town. This home delivered. This was our first VRBO rental and we were a little nervous as to how it would work out. The host was very easy to communicate with, and the we found the home to be as described. The three bedrooms were perfect for my wife and I and our three nearly grown children. Each room had a window air conditioner which is helpful in heatwaves. The home was clean, which was especially concerning during Covid-19 times. The backyard was phenomenal in terms of space, privacy, ambient lighting, tiki torches to help with mosquitos, and everything you need for family and a few guests - grill, seating and tables. We loved the location, just a few minutes in one direction to down town restaurants and shops, and about a 10 minute walk in the other direction to the beach. During Covid, public parking was limited so we either walked, or drove to drop off out stuff, brought the car back, and biked back to the beach. The street is quiet, particularly at night. Overall a great experience. Thank you Michael.

Very cute, wonderful location!

Our stay was for two weeks. We couldn't have made a better choice location wise. Walking distance to Main Street where all of the restaurants are as well as shopping. The home itself was perfect for the two of us. There are 3 bedrooms, with the master on the first level. Two good sized bedrooms upstairs (just be cautious of the stairs if you have little ones: old house, steep stairs). Nice sized screened in front porch to sit in during the cooler evenings. All bedrooms and living room have window AC's. The bathrooms are small, and as in a previous review, no tub if you need to bath younger children. Kitchen was well stocked, and 2 refrigerators are available. One with an ice maker (bonus!).The beach is a 1/2 or so drive. Parking is by permit for the beach, so my husband would drop me off, drive back to the house, use the bike that was outside in the backyard to join me and when we were ready to leave, would take the bike back and come with the car. We didn't mind this at all. Plenty of cleaning supplies to maintain the property while you are there. The yard is fenced in which is nice if you have a dog, and the neighbors are quiet...not a party street for sure. We hope to be back next year! Thank you Michael (who was great to work with)!

2nd year just as amazing as the 1st

My husband and I, along with our golden retriever, stayed 5 nights in this lovely Falmouth home for the 2nd Summer in a row. The homeowner keeps this home very well maintained and it is always clean and welcoming. The house is very spacious and there are AC units in each bedroom and the large living area. The yard is fenced in and there is a nice sized patio in the back (shaded!) with a large table, many chairs, charcoal grill, and a very private outdoor shower! The location is amazing- about a tenth of a mile to Famouths cozy center and just over .6 miles to Surf drive beach. We purchased a little wagon and made the short walk to the beach. Would chose this home year after year for our annual cape vacation!

Perfect Mini vacation

This rental was perfect. I do not have any complaints, the owner was very easy to work with and incredibly accommodating. I booked this to surprise my husband for his 30th birthday and he couldn't have been more excited! This was our first experience with a vacation rental as well as our first vacation with our young dog (who made himself right at home from the start). The home has everything you would need- from utensils to linens, a charcoal grill, laundry, Ac in all bed room windows, and our favorite was the great sized fenced in yard and outdoor shower! We brought kicthen and beach supplies from our own home, but it was good to know they had extra if needed. The house has so much space- 2 large living areas, a complete and open kitchen, 3 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 3 tables(2 inside and a very large one outside with tons of seating). This rental will be my first choice for our Falmouth getaways each summer!

Great location, comfy cute little house

My family really enjoyed our stay here. The house is about 200 years old (according to the sign on it), but additions have made it pretty comfortable. The layout includes a first floor with a large kitchen, family room, and nice living room, a bathroom with shower, a front (porch-type) room, and a bedroom plus half-bath off the back of the house. The second floor has two bedrooms with slanting ceilings (wouldn't recommend for very TALL people). For us this layout worked great. The kids loved the upstairs rooms, which were sparsely furnished (for me this was a plus!) and very simple. The mattresses upstairs seemed a little thin, but they were fine for kids. The downstairs bedroom was very comfortable; the half-bath is quite small but does its job. There were AC units in every bedroom, and the main part of the house stayed fairly comfortable even in hot weather. There are many seating options in this house, and especially the back yard had plenty of seats with a large table. Again, this worked great for us with the kids. The kitchen was pretty well-stocked, including a lobster/crab pot and long-handled tongs, which we used to cook the crabs that we had caught. It was fun how the glasses were almost all from local running events! The only thing we ran short of was bowls (because, well, kids), so we bought some paper bowls for our stay. There is wi-fi in the house (didn't work for my ipad in the downstairs bedroom, but otherwise was great). I was a little nervous about this being a "pet-friendly" place because two of my kids have dog allergies, but neither had any reactions that I could tell, although there was definitely pet hair around (my crawling baby made this obvious). The house was overall clean and cute (loved the starfish decorations), but not SO perfect as to make me uncomfortable having kids there. The kids managed to find some construction type materials lying around the house (a wrench, some foot-long nails); having that stuff out of sight would have been helpful for us. One of the best parts of this house is the location. It is a two minute walk to the great downtown shopping area (watch out, the first store you hit is ice cream and candy!!!) and very close to Surf Drive Beach, which is a fantastic beach for kids, with warm water and few waves and plenty of shallow water. It's also close to the Island Queen ferry to Martha's Vineyard. The price, the location, the arrangements make this a great place for families with young children.
