About this property

Just 2 mi. to Parris Island & Beaufort, Walk to Beach & Shops - Sleeps 6 - Wi-FI

Low Country living at its best! You’re just minutes from Parris Island to see your Marine graduate or to visit all the Lowcountry has to offer.

This charming, historic 2 story home is located in the heart of the Old Village of Port Royal. The history and heritage of Port Royal come together in this beautifully restored 100-yr. old home! The house has many historic features including original pine floors and doors, antiques and collectibles throughout.

The 3 bedroom home sleeps 6 and features 1 queen-size bed and 2 full-size beds. The bedrooms are located on the second floor along with a large bathroom featuring a combination vintage claw foot tub w/retrofitted shower and ceramic tile.

The master bedroom is spacious and provides access to the private second floor porch. The porch has wicker chairs and a rocker to enjoy your morning coffee. Like the master bedroom, the charming second and third bedrooms are furnished in antiques and feature vintage linens, quilts and lace window treatments. A full size washer and dryer are conveniently located on the second floor, adjacent to the bedrooms.

Tastefully appointed, the home blends local history with 21st century conveniences, including a 40" flat screen TV with cable access, Free Internet Wi-Fi and central heating and air conditioning. A spacious living room welcomes guests and a large kitchen and dining area is well-appointed with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, blender, coffee maker and toaster. Additional 1/2 bath on first floor.

The historic home features double front porches shaded by a beautiful Spanish moss draped live oak tree. Both the upper and lower porches provide outdoor seating. This home is perfect for enjoying the mild southern climate and marsh breezes. Pull up a chair, sip on a glass of southern sweet tea and sit awhile.

The house provides one off-street parking spot in front of the house with additional parking in the rear of the property.

Located just 2 miles from the gates of Parris Island makes this home an ideal location for families and friends who are attending the graduation ceremonies at Parris Island.

The house is conveniently located in the Old Village of Port Royal, the heart of the town’s historic district. Visitors with a soft spot for natural outings and fantastic views will find plenty of local attractions to explore, starting with the Cypress Wetlands, a gorgeous slice of coastal environment that features snowy egrets, wood ducks, great blue herons, and a variety of other migrating shorebirds via a number of winding trails.

You can find antique and consignment shops and an eclectic mix of restaurants and coffee shops along Paris Avenue. The streets in this area are all named after the capitals of countries who, at one point or another, tried to claim the area. Visitors will stroll along London (where the vacation house is located), Paris, Madrid and even Edinburgh Streets.

A short walk from the house takes you to The Sands and Boardwalk, Port Royal’s own beach for stunning Battery Creek views. The Sands Beach, with its extensive long wooden pier and small sandy beach, is a popular spot for amateur archaeologists to dig for shark's teeth and other seaside treasures. A tower is also located on site, which is open for climbing visitors, and presents exceptional views of the Port Royal landscape. You can enjoy the public beach and climb the observation tower for spectacular panoramic views of the water, marshes and Parris Island. The Sands has a public boat launch if you want to bring your boat.

A one of a kind hidden jewel, Port Royal combines genuine southern hospitality and living with street music events and festivals, shops, restaurants, the Sands Beach, Cypress Wetland Preserve and much more! A picturesque coastal town that offers miles of views, entertainment and postcard-perfect charm!

If you can tear yourself away from Port Royal, a 10-minute drive will find you in Beaufort where you can explore quaint shops, art galleries, book stores and a variety of cares, bistros, coffee shops and fine restaurants. Shop along Bay Street, lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants and enjoy the spectacular views of the Beaufort River.
Traveling 30 min. from Port Royal is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in South Carolina, Hunting Island State Park, a 5,000 acre park with 3 miles of natural beach. Charleston, SC and Savannah, Georgia are located approximately an hour from Port Royal.

A special place, come visit and make this 100-yr. old historic home, your “home away from home”.

Great Experience

Property was as listed. Great Stay. Loved the convenience and location. I do think the place would be a little warm in the summer months; but found everything else to be great! It was a wonderful place to stay in a great little community.

Very quaint house in great location

My family stayed at this property for a week in July. We loved the location - very quiet neighborhood and beautiful downtown Beaufort is only a 20 min drive away. The house is exactly as described in the listing. No frills, but had all the needed items for a relaxing stay. Beds were comfortable and the overall feel of the house definitely fits the area - rustic and relaxing. Some things to note: * As the listing says, the upstairs does get warm over the summer. We adjusted the vents as noted in the listing details, but if you are someone who likes

Great location, but the property needs an update

The property is older as is noted in the listing. But it could definitely use some updates across-the-board. There was a dead squirrel on the front porch. The listing agent came immediately and took care of it. There are two other apartments on the property. We did have some challenges with the person in the upstairs apartment, not wanting us to park where it was noted we should park, the listing agent also took care of that very quickly

Guys weekend trip

We stayed two nights in this stunning and seemingly turn of the century home with modern upgrades (without losing its historical charm). The location cannot be beat. There was also plenty of extra bedding and towels, which is always appreciated in my book. All of this and more for a very reasonable price.

Charming historic home in the heart of Port Royal

We came for a family wedding in Beaufort and had an amazing weekend at this charming, historic home. We appreciate older homes so we felt right at home here and enjoyed the quiet, friendly neighborhood and the location - a short walk to great restaurants, coffee shops and the beach. Though it’s older it had everything we needed. We would recommend this home and would definitely stay here again.

Great spot!

Great spot, brought our small dog, walked everywhere. Place was very clean and had all items, like towels and napkins, easily accessible. High ceiling which was lovely. Bathroom was very clean. We would stay again! Only con that’s not even really a con- The clawfoot tub is so cute and clean, water pressure great BUT as a tall person I felt unstable and didn’t know where to hold onto should I fall while showering. This is probably a personal problem….

Such a good week!

My family and I stayed in this pink treasure in early April. Thoroughly enjoyed the house, the neighborhood, and the nearby shops and restaurants. The house had everything we needed, including condiments, beach towels, cute kitchen towels, and two porches. Two porches! I loved the porches. I hope we can visit again in the future.

Lovely Lowcountry Home

We really enjoyed our stay - Port royal was a great destination for our long weekend stay. Although our teens called the house gramma’s, we thought it was an excellent historic house and very much loved the 2nd story porch, walks to the water and cypress gardens. Thank you! I hope we can come back again.

Perfect location for MCRD events

Our group attended family day and graduation for our new Marine. The drive from the property to the base was under 10 minutes- and that matters at 5 am! The property, particularly the kitchen, was very well equipped for all of our needs. Comfortable beds, quality linens throughout, informative guest book, easy check in/ check out ( once we learned how to open the lockbox!). Parking was easy and convenient. The town of Port Royal is charming, and everyone we encountered was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely consider visiting again!

Communication, cleanliness and foul smell

House was not very clean, has not been deep cleaned for quite awhile. There is an issue with the septic vent pipe, strong sewer odor upstairs. Property manager did not seem too concerned with the issue. She did send cleaning company back but still did very little cleaning. The shower/bathtub combo is not very user friendly difficult getting in and out of. The location was excellent

I was told I would be given partial refund and then they denied. I asked to speak directly to owner and was also denied. This was a total dissappoinment

Lovely area

We greatly enjoyed our stay in Port Royal! The area is so beautiful and we loved learning and exploring all over. The sands beach was unlike any I've been to. It's small, not crowded at all and great for finding sharks teeth and insane oyster clusters! We saw dolphins along the shoreline. At low tide, the amount of hermit crabs, blue crabs and little shrimp were so fun to observe. There are some really great restaurants within walking distance and the Cypress Wetlands were stunning. The house itself is older, therefore in the summer it can get uncomfortably hot upstairs. We learned about 2 days into our stay, if we needed to do laundry, to wait until the morning, but overall with the fans it was fine. I do want to put this out there for anyone else with physical disabilities, the stairs are very steep leading up to the bedrooms and the bathtub is not handicap accessible. I didn't realize there wasn't a shower bar to help my 6 year old get in and out of the tub and he had to scoot on his bottom up and down the stairs. Overall we enjoyed our stay and loved learning all about the history of the area.

6/10 Okay

Alaina Z.

The property was very convenient to Parris Island. House is roomy but needs improvement.

Loved the location. Especially if you're there for USMC Graduation. The house is quite nice downstairs. Lots of room and the AC works great downstairs. The downstairs half bath is convenient but the only full bath is upstairs and it's a claw foot tub/shower combo. So I wouldnt recommend this house for anyone with physical ailments or difficulties. The stairs would be somewhat strenuous for elderly and disabled. Also, AC DOES NOT COOL UPSTAIRS which is where the bedrooms are. I did purchase own fan. Sleeping was very unpleasant for everyone upstairs. With the laundry facility upstairs, in the only full bath, the person in the next room gets all that heat. And SC is definitely hot in June. Other than that, the only complaint is no iron or we never found it. I'd suggest one be left for families who are there for graduation and don't travel with irons. The owner is super nice and accommodating as is the lady who cleans. Zero complaints about the hospitality. And the house is cute and comfortable. The blue room bed is the most comfortable.

Do not rent!!!!

We arrived at the property on Wednesday, when we opened the doors there was a strong scent of animal urine coming from the inside of the home. We got inside the property and started walking around, instantly I started sneezing and coughing. There was cat fur balls on the couch, beds, stairs and windows. The house was not cleaned. I contacted the property manager immediately and Tina informed me she could send a maid to clean the home or we could leave and get a full refund. We drove 11 hours to get there and booked this house months in advance for almost 1000$. It is unacceptable that the house was not vacuumed or beds washed prior to our stay. Tina the property manager told us to leave and she would refund our money. A few days later she messaged me that she was no longer refunding us our money because all she found in the home was feathers and possibly dog hair. To make matters worse after only 5-10 minutes in the home my six year old daughter was wearing shorts, my daughter had been bitten all over her legs by fleas. The rest of us had pants on so we only got one or two on our ankles, but my baby has them covering her entire ankles and calves. Tina informed me that there are stray cats around the property and that we were most likely bit walking 20 feet from our car to the front door. I have rented over 30+ homes and have never experienced such bad property management. She took no responsibility for the situation and still refused the deposit, even though she told us immediately to leave and she would refund us.

This is our personal "Home away from home"! We live in Valley Forge, PA in a 330-yr. old home (that is also a bed & breakfast) and fell in love with Port Royal and this house about 5 years ago when we came to visit friends. We purchased the home and love to visit as often as possible.

Why they chose this property

A wonderful charming historic house walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops -- it is a special quiet place to relax and enjoy.

What makes this property unique

Love the small fishing village of Port Royal - it's quiet, charming but close to everything! 5 min. walk to the beach. Everyone is very friendly and it's the perfect getaway spot!
