Fantastic base home

This home is perfect in location, rural farm environment and hosts. I love that it's located between Rome and Florence at the incredible town of Orvieto. It's a quiet farm away from tourist hustle but close to a lot of sights to see. The hosts are fantastic people that I like to think of as friends who are extremely supportve, helpful and communicative; even to sharing their produce and eggs for tha 'fresh from the farm' ambiance. This was our second stay and we'll be back. Thank you Alessandra and Pierluigi.

Amazing House for perfect family vacation

We definitely recommend booking this accommodation. It is clean, air conditioned (important in Italian summer), surrounded by a wonderful countryside and a great spot for starting trips to Orvieto, Rome and other cities in Umbria and Toscany. Our hosts Gigi and Alessandra were very kind and it was like being among friends.

Magnificent rental in Orvieto

We cannot say enough good things about our stay at Allisandra and Pierluigi's property. The location was perfect being so close to Orvieto, local markets and the A1. The apartment has been lovingly restored on their family owned property and has all of the modern conveniences. We enjoyed having lunch on the lovely patio just outside our front door, but Orvieto is so close, a 5 min. drive and you can be in town for a meal as well. Allisandra, Luigi and their son Giovanni were always there to help with any questions and they are the warmest and most friendly hosts we have ever met. Their property is very beautiful with many fruit and olive trees, grape vines and gardens. We hope to be able to return and enjoy their wonderful hospitality. This is the perfect place to stay in Orvieto. Thank you Allisandra , Luigi and Giovanna from the bottom of our hearts for our wonderful stay.

A home away from home

I travelled to Orvieto with my Uncle for a week's stay. This small country house was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Alessandra and Pierluigi are the most welcoming hosts. We enjoyed their gifts of fresh eggs and fresh vegetables daily. The house is clean, cozy and spacious. It is possible to walk to Orvieto center if you are ok with hills. This is a perfect location. I can't wait to go back!!

An Absolute Dream

This beautiful house was charming and chic and cozy all at once. The beds were not super comfortable, but everything else was perfection. This home was impeccably clean and had everything we needed and more. Be sure to ask how to open the screens on the windows because you won't be able to figure it out on your own! Would love to come back and stay here for a month sometime. Orvieto is a magical town and there could be no better place from which to explore it.

Simply Fantastic - Beautiful House, Lovely Location and Wonderful Hosts

Where do you start when something is this good? The house is an attractive semi detached converted farmhouse in the owner's picturesque smallholding on the outskirts of the small town of Orvieto. This is quite simply one of the best places we've ever stayed in and we really didn’t want to leave and come home. The house is good looking from outside, but the inside is truly special. This was Alessandra’s and Pierluigi’s family home before they built and moved into the adjacent property which is also on the smallholding, and the love and care that has been put into the place shows. It is a beautiful home and was a privilege to stay here. Alessandra and Pierluigi are fantastic hosts who are warm, friendly, welcoming and a fountain of knowledge of things to see and do, they could not have been more helpful. Add to that the wonderful welcoming touches such as fresh eggs from their free range chickens, fruit and vegetables grown on site, a simple selection of cooking ingredients in stock like salt, pepper, olive oil and herbs, some pasta and a jar of Alessandra’s wonderful homemade tomato sauce and we felt right at home straight away. As a base to explore the region, this is superbly placed but note you do need a car to make the most of it as there are many local towns worth visiting. The main car park for Orvieto, the railway station, the local supermarkets, and the autostrada if heading further afield, are all with in 5 to 10 minutes drive. Situated on the southern border of Umbria, it is easy to explore this region and that of Tuscany to the north, or to visit Rome which we did by train for a day trip. We did have a day out to the seaside as well which took about an hour and a half to get to so it is doable. This place is superb for families of all ages. It is also ideal for couples who want to explore the region, irrespective of the time of year. We certainly intend to come back to this wonderful place. Grazie mille, Alessandra e Pierluigi!

Perfetto !!!

Fabulous Italian home

We could not have been happier with this farm house and Orvieto as our home base. Allesandra and Perluigi were the perfect hosts, bringing us fresh eggs, fruit and jam and allowing us free range of the farm and its bounty. It really exceeded our expectations, which were already high based on previous reviews. Under any circumstances, this is a wonderful home, but with a 3-year old it was perfect. He loved eating tomatoes off the vine, "driving" the tractor and checking on the chickens. We could be in town in quickly for a meal or shopping, but also easily drive to any number of charming hilltop or lake beach towns in under an hour. We hope to return soon.

This place is one of the most perfect to stay

This is one of those places that you just cannot say enough good things about. We are a family of four and this house accommodated us perfectly. The kitchen was large enough to actually cook in; there was a dishwasher, a washing machine and a nice sized refrigerator. The proprietors were extremely friendly and even invited us to help ourselves to the vegetable garden. Just outside of the walls of the old town of Orvieto, there was parking and quiet nights. I recommend this location highly.

Absolutely lovely cottage and owners!

On our visit to Umbria after Rome and the beautiful little town of Orvieto, we lucked out by finding this cottage for a 4 night stay and hated to leave! It is a newly built and thoughtfully furnished and well-equipped, neat as a pen, and very clean. It is filled with art by the owner's father and in a separate, stand-alone building near their home in the country right outside of Orvietto. You can see up to part of the town from their property, and it takes just minutes to drive to the parking lot and then take the elevator or escalator is up to the town (walkable in the daylight). The cottage is comfortable and nicely furnished with everything you could want including TV, stereo, and fireplace! The two bedrooms, one with a queen and one with the single bed, share one very nice large bathroom. I hate to make any complaint about this lovely property, but the queen bed was rather hard, at least for my taste. Nothing a foam mattress topper couldn't fix! I also recommend a side table between the sofa and the sitting chair. Although we arrived much later than planned and inconvenienced the owner, she could not have been more gracious and accommodating and helpful! Even brought us fresh pasta sauce and fresh eggs and their own wine. We went on from Orvieto to Spoleto and Assisi visiting many hill towns along the way, but this was by far our favorite accommodation and our favorite town. I also forgot to mention that we were there for the October earthquakes which fortunately did not cause any deaths like in August but quite a bit of damage in nearby town in the mountains region not far from where we were visiting! But we Californians are tough. Thank you Allesandra and Luigi!

Beautiful country home away from home

A warm welcome, gracious hosts and an unforgettable three weeks in this beautiful county house provided for a wonderful holiday. Not only is the house well equipped for your everyday needs, but appointed with great attention to detail. Fresh eggs, produce and an invitation to the grape harvesting activities were just some of the highlights. The kindness, helpful directions, and the many sight-seeing suggestions we received from Alessandra gave us an experience we will always cherish. The description, photos and details of this property was everything and more we expected.

Enjoyed the warm atmosphere of house and garden

Spent two weeks in the house with two children 12 and 14. we enjoyed the combination of a quiet garden, a spacious house, excellent interior provisions (everything is there to cook, dine, wash, play games, read and relax), and the pleasure of having the medieval town of Orvieto just around the corner. The house was larger than we initially thought, we found it very nice and clean and appreciated the meal ingredients that were already there when we arrived. It was very nice to have fresh eggs and vegetables from the garden, but for those who don't want to do home cooking: there is a choice of restaurants in the area. The friendly owners, living nearby, are very helpful, but respect your privacy totally. During warm and silent nights, you may be hearing the high speed trains passing in the distance, or some traffic on the A1. It also helps you to visit Rome, Siena or Florence if you want to leave the Umbrian landscape for a change.

A perfect home away from home.

We had a very relaxing 10-day stay here. Alessandra and Pierluigi went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The house is pristine and has all the modern comforts, including cable tv, wi-fi, dishwasher and washing machine. It also has air conditioning though we didn't use it because the inside stays very cool. Screens on all of the windows were an unexpected surprise. We cannot imagine a better place to stay in Umbria and hope to return often.

Wonderful

Lovely, comfortable, clean house, with interesting original artwork, classical music CDs to play, good sized TV, comfortable sofa and armchair and well appointed kitchen and dining room that has everything you need. There are well fitted mosquito screens at all windows. The bathroom was spotless with a large shower, but be careful of any water on floor - tiles are very slippery. Soap, hairdryer, towels provided. The large double bed was very comfortable. A smaller bedroom had two beds but I couldn't see anywhere to put clothes. The house was perfect for the two of us and we loved it! There is a relaxed west facing large garden with chickens - which very generously provide eggs for the guests. We had the best omelette ever! The owner is happy for you to wander around and you can meet her dog and cats. A 4 minute drive takes you to the car park at Orvieto where there is a lift or escalator up to the town. But it is the owner, Alessandra, who makes the stay so very enjoyable. She is friendly and helpful in a non-intrusive way and very kind. She made a restaurant reservation for us, gave us advice, left us her homemade fresh tomato sauce and pasta - which was so appreciated on our first evening. She offered to meet us at the exit from the motorway as the house is tucked away under the ramparts of Orvieto, but we followed the sat nav and arrived without problems. A wonderful, relaxing holiday experience - thank you Alessandra and Pierluigi. Marie and Ian, London.

Perfect in every way

Our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) stayed in Alessandra and Pierluigi's cottage for a week over Easter. We couldn't be happier with our stay. The cottage is located on their beautiful farm just below the hill-top town of Orvieto, with views of the valley beyond. The cottage is very comfortable, with everything we needed, and is very spacious, with separate dining and living areas. Alessandra and Pierluigi are friendly and generous hosts, providing us with fresh eggs, vegetables and herbs from their garden, and homemade sauce for pasta, as well as basic condiments and wine. Orvieto is beautiful. You can drive to the municipal parking lot to get there, or if you are a keen walker it is only a 20 minute walk (albeit quite steep) to the parking lot from the cottage, from where you can take an escalator up the hill to the centre of town. We enjoyed the gelati at Gelateria Pasqualetti, a family-run gelateria in Piazza del Duomo. We also had a great walk outside Orvieto, across the valley towards Porano, following the old aqueduct. The views looking back towards Orvieto are terrific, and the walk also passes some Etruscan tombs and the Convent of San Bernardo. The tourist information office in town provides maps of the walk. Thank you to Alessandra, Pierluigi and Piergiuseppe for their wonderful hospitality. Highly recommended.
