About this property

A beachfront oasis where the Chesapeake meets the Atlantic awaits your arrival. Come down and relax on two large decks overlooking a mile-long private white sandy beach with views to the eastern shore!

Built in 2010, our home boasts all of the modern amenities. Downstairs is a spacious kitchen with stainless steel appliances overlooking the large living and dining room. Through the sliding doors is the outdoor dining area with a gas grill and seating for 8. You will also find a bedroom with a queen bed, a second bedroom with twin-size bunk beds, and a laundry room with full-size washer and dryer. Finally there is a full bath with a custom stained glass window.

Upstairs is the master bedroom with cathedral ceilings and custom stained glass window, opening to a deck. Enjoy magnificent ocean views and the beautiful Virginia sunrises right from your king sized bed. A second large king bedroom awaits your guests. Next door is a large attached bonus bedroom with a twin bed and seating area. There is a full bathroom on the second floor.

If having a green vacation appeals to you, the house has not used any power from the grid since we installed solar panels on the roof in 2018! You can also charge your electric vehicle with our level 2 charger.

A major beach replenishment project was completed in the 2020. The beach has never looked better or been more inviting. Please keep this in mind as you read some of the older reviews as the issues that were appropriately raised at the time no longer exist. It is amazing to see how 11,000 tons of sand can transform the waterfront. We can't wait for you to come see it!

With the beach at your doorstep the water activities are endless. The beach is very family friendly, with shallow warm waters and gentle waves. Located only an hour from Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. Enjoy local eateries, antiquing, and wineries right down the road. Of course, when on the Chesapeake, you can do as the locals do and go bird watching, fishing and crabbing.

Family vacation

The location of the property was great. Our family enjoyed being on the beautiful beach. 4 adults and 1 child slept very comfortable. We encountered some issues: grill not working, ants in kitchen, ripped screens enclosing screened in porch. Overall, we had a great trip.

small private beach just beyond back yard

Beach and back bay was ideal for toddlers. House was nice for multiple families. Although upstairs you need to walk through master bedroom to get to back bedrooms. But that worked for us. Screened in porch nice to gather and relax. We ate all our meals out there except for a couple when it was too hot.

7/30-8/6/2022 This was our first stay on the Chesapeake Bay. Tranquility lived up to its name. The house was lovely- spotless upon arrival. We were not bothered by the upstairs bedroom set up. Homeowners might consider putting in French doors between the 2 back rooms though. It would give a bit more privacy to each room. The room with the twin bed could even have a queen bed and a bunk or trundle bed as well- plenty of room. That twin mattress was extremely uncomfortable for a weeks worth of sleep. That is my only “complaint”. The views from the master bed waking up each morning were phenomenal!! Sitting on the upper deck was relaxing and peaceful listening to the waves and the insects each morning and evening. The kitchen was huge and had everything we needed to cook each night! Dining in the screened in porch each evening was fun for our family. The kids & teens played games each evening or walked along the beach to see all the night creatures! We rented paddle boards that were dropped off and picked up at the end of the week- couldn’t have been easier! The bay is perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding or floating in a noodle chair! Most days we were the only family on the beach! The water was warm and very little seaweed. My girls are older but it is a perfect beach for young children as it is very shallow for a good distance out. We did an excursion to Colonial Williamsburg one day and it was just under an hours drive. We tend to try different destinations each year but Tranquility is on the top of my saved list! Quiet Family Beach Week

This house was simple, but the location is ideal, especially if you like a quiet, low-key beach getaway. While there are other house on the beach and it might not always happen, we had the cove to ourselves all week. I'm sure there are never more than a handful of families on this private beach. We had nice walks towards the lighthouse and even had family photos taken.

Great location!

We chose this property for the great location and private beach and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed peaceful walks up the Natural Preserve shore and absolutely beautiful sunrises. Great spot for kayaking or floating on a raft with kids. The house was cozy and kitchen well equipped. The layout of the upstairs bedrooms is unusual, but we made it work.

Amazing!!!

This was my family’s second stay here and my Pennsylvania family’s first stay. It was amazing! Perfect getaway for the week. We were on the beach everyday and loved every minute of it. Even getting caught in the rain! The host was very quick to respond to messages and very friendly! You won’t regret staying here!

Very quiet and secluded

The property was adequate for our family of 6 adults. The upstairs would be ideal for a family with small children, since there is less privacy, but we made the best of it. The property is very secluded, and I think our late summer vacation made it even more so. The nicer restaurants were closed during the week. We ate in nearly every meal, which in the end suited us fine. The weather during our week was extremely hot! The a/c in the house was amazing and made our stay very comfortable. We anchored 2jet skis in the bay and that worked out quite well. Finding a boat ramp was challenging but finally we discovered a public ramp on Rt. 608.

Wonderful vacation spot

This home was perfect for a peaceful vacation. The neighborhood is small and private and the house was spacious for our family trip (all adults). The beach access could not be beat- private beachfront, no crowds, and clean, calm water. We rented paddle boards and enjoyed walks on the beach/nature preserve. As previous reviewers noted, the upstairs layout of the house is something to be aware of (needing to walk through master to get to other rooms, no door leading to master from downstairs) but was not at all a bother for us. The bright sunrise each morning was beautiful and welcomed. The owners were easy to reach and very helpful leading up to and during our stay. Highly recommend this rental and we hope to return some day!

Fantastic location!!

We loved our stay here and plan to come back in the future. Beautifully situated with lovely views of the water and beach. House was updated, clean, and comfortable. Great place to escape and relax, especially during COVID. Just what we needed!

Away from it all

Such a lovely escape! We had the beach to ourselves with the exception of occasional neighbors who were incredibly kind. The water and waves were perfect for our two toddlers. It was our first trip away since the pandemic began and just the break we needed—also gave us peace of mind to arrive at such a clean house.

Great beach access and quiet location

We stayed at this home for a week in June. We were looking for a "socially distanced" vacation and this home worked well. The house location is just as described and only steps from a very nice beach with sand and a shallow entry which was perfect for our family. The beach was never crowded - we had as much space as we wanted. The kids loved the cove area and it is fairly well protected from the bay so easy to swim in and had mild waves (except for the few days it was storming and there were high winds!) We walked down to the point several times and enjoyed the beautiful views. The house is comfortable, but as other reviews have noted the upper floor bedroom layout is a little funky. The back two bedrooms have a large opening with no door in between them, and the only access to the back two rooms is by walking through the front master bedroom. The master bedroom also do not have a door between the room and the stairs, so if anyone is downstairs in the living area the noise travels up the stairs quite easily. This was not an issue for our relatively small party of 6 as we were all close family, but is worth noting for other groups. We enjoyed the large screen porch with a big table and chairs when the weather was warm enough to eat outside, but we found eating inside to be a tight squeeze as there were only four chairs and a small table. The kitchen is a good size and the living room furniture was new and comfortable.

The perfect vacation spot

I’m not sure what I can say other than this property was perfect and fit all the needs of my family. It was so perfect that one of my youngsters took the training wheels off his bike and succeeded. I think he’ll compete in the Tour de France eventually! We saw deer, bald eagles, wild turtles and tons of sea life. All the neighbors are great, there are no strangers in Bavon! This place is a must stay for any family.

The perfect relaxing vacation getaway!

I could not be happier with my stay . From the very beginning, Steven and Robbi were super friendly and helpful to answer all of my questions. This great communication continued throughout our stay when we had a couple questions about the internet and electrical. Easy fixes with their quick responses. The house was very clean and beautiful with nice indoor and outdoor spaces. The beach was a few feet away and was gorgeous, quiet, and very few people there . We only saw 1-3 other families each day and had lots of space to keep distance . We went for walks toward the light house everyday (about 1 mile away along the beach) which had about zero people in that direction which made for a very nice walk, views, and place to collect seashells. The beach and water remind you of the ocean even though it’s the bay but the waves were gentle which made it easy for both old and young to swim! So no pool needed. The house is also well equipped with kitchen supplies and lots of board games! We loved absolutely everything about our stay there and would love to return in the future. The only downsides which were not huge are an awkward room layout upstairs. The master king room with the balcony is open to the stairs and also you have to walk through it to get to all other rooms upstairs . So just have that in mind when you are planning where people are going to sleep. Also there isn’t many choices or good reception with the tv and our cell service was spotting (AT&T) but it is a rural area so that’s to be expected. Also, don’t forget to bring linens! We asked beforehand so we were prepared. We bought most of our food at the Food Lion about 15 minutes drive away but also enjoyed take out from a couple restaurants in town. We also rented kayaks for the morning from Mobjack kayaking company, which id recommend. They do pick up and drop off right to the house. Be careful with kayaking to the lighthouse though, the waves got choppy and I got sea sick lol, but kayaking in the other direction would be better for those with motion sickness. We also did a trip to Colonial Williamsburg which is just over an hour away so super quick drive. Overall, we LOVED our stay. Especially during covid, this was the perfect place for a relaxing, quiet, safe retreat and we hope to return!

The Perfect Getway

My family just returned from a week of tranquility at Tranquility. It was the perfect escape to the harsh reality of covid. The house was thoroughly cleaned upon arrival, which eased our minds. The house boasts ample amount of space and my family was able to spread out without feeling crammed. The huge kitchen was perfect to gather and prepare meals. We ate outside on the balcony and indoors when it was too hot/humid. The screened in porch was a plus. Having access to the private beach was perfect! There were days we were the only ones on the beach. When there were others on it, we had more than enough space to feel social distanced. The water was calm and my 2 year old loved it. Walks on the beach were very relaxing. We walk along the beach to the tip of the peninsula for an excellent view of the lighthouse. Some days the water was really warm, but was a comfortable temperature in the morning and late afternoon. The outdoor shower was one of my favorite features of the house. It was so refreshing and helped eliminate the amount of sand that got into the house. The second balcony gave spectacular views. At the top of the stairs there was a king size bed that overlooked the bay. You accessed the balcony from there. Unfortunately no one stayed in this room because it lacked privacy and to get to the other two bedrooms, you needed to walk through that one. Despite that, the house was wonderful and we plan on returning next year. One week was not enough time. We will be back for two!!

Great stay for 2 families with 4 children

We booked this stay pre-pandemic and considered canceling as the refund deadline approached. However, Steven was very accommodating and I speak for everyone else that we are glad that we decided to stick with our decision to go on this vacation. First off, the beach itself is private and secluded so it lends itself as a perfect environment for social distancing. At most, there were 3-4 other families on the beach for any given day (the last day there were only 2 families including ourselves), all spread out. The beach is perfect for children (we had 4 ranged from 3-6 years old), clean sand and calm, shallow waters which allowed the adults to relax on the beach without having to worry too much about how far they go out. Steven is a great communicator, responds to emails promptly and answered all of our questions regarding the surrounding area and the house itself. The house is nice, large, clean. As mentioned in another review the layout may seem a bit odd (going through the master to get to another bedroom) but it all worked out for us fine. The kitchen had everything we needed. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch, ate all of our meals there. There are limited cable TV channels, so I brought an Apple TV to hook up in the main living room to keep the kids entertained on Disney+ and Netflix. WiFi was OK, spotty at times in some areas of the house (but who goes on vacation to be on their devices, anyway?). Overall, we would definitely book again. We all had a relaxing, enjoyable stay and most importantly the kids really had a lot of fun.
