Idyllic
Stayed for 4 days. Lovely well thought out cottage, exceptionally clean. Especially liked outside areas, would liked to have used them more but stay too short. Helpful owners, use of electric charging point for modest charge. Pretty village. Enjoyed walking South West coastal path Would be happy to stay again. Thank you

Lovely cottage, great find.
The cottage is well equipped and clean. The cakes and milk left for our arrival was a lovely gesture and greatly appreciated. The bed was very comfortable and spacious. Having both a bath and shower was a great treat, and there was always lots of very hot water. The telly/Netflix setup was good for cosy nights in. We found the location fantastic for great coastal walks and were able to do one each day, even in the rain. Would certainly recommend this cottage or use again myself.

Cosy cottage
Solid, comfortable, compact cottage on the edge of the village. The place had everything needed for a couple (no room for kids). Very quiet and peaceful. Good garden to sit in and look out over the fields. Especially liked the designated parking space so parking up was never an issue. Easy walk to the Old Inn and farm shop, more of an extended deli really. I could have spent a fortune in there... Didn't really see our hosts but did text a question and they were immediately on it and really helpful. Within easy driving to the coast from Bridport to Teignmouth without the grief of queuing to get into Cornwall, brilliant! We just drove around for the joy of driving down lush green dappled Devon/Dorset country roads through sleepy villiages. Loved it.

Relaxed stay in Kilmington
An immaculately fitted cottage with a cosy feel and delightful garden area to sit in. The advantage being only a short distance to Lyme Regis and with local shopping available.

Wonderful place in South Devon!
We spent a week here at the peak of early spring leaf-out. The walks in the countryside and along the Jurassic coast were exceptionally beautiful! ....and cycling in the area was equally scenic, and challenging on the steep country lanes!

Couples romantic cottage
Pretty cottage with nice enclosed garden (shared with next door cottage). Very well equipped with all you could need. Lovely homely touches. Cakes and fresh milk on arrival. Hosts very friendly and accommodating. We stayed during a particularly wet/muddy time of year, so were concerned about the carpet with our two small dogs, coming in from walks etc. Unfortunately, due to covid, the local dog friendly pubs were on limited menus. Would love to return in the drier summer months. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us Linda.

A cosy cottage perfect for 2 & a Pooch
What a lovely cottage mini break. We stayed for 3 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Check in was super easy( cottage was open and arrival instructions accurate and cottage easy to find) It's perfect for two and a small dog, the kitchen is perfectly equipped and the fresh cookies, cake and milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. The bed was super comfy with goose/ duck feather topper and pillows plus the area is so quiet that a good night's sleep is a given. There is a fantastic, secure garden for the dog to explore and a smart TV for rainy days. Plenty of nice walks from the doorstep to pubs and woodland areas including a dog friendly park just up the road and superb farm shop (Millers) where you can stock up on provisions. Easy 30 min drive to Lyme, and Charmouth beaches. Overall a really relaxing stay and we will look to book again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Everything perfect
We loved this cottage . It was in a great location for all the amazing places to visit in this lovely part of the works . The cottage itself was spotless and had everything you could possibly need . The towels were fluffy and the king size bed had crisp good quality linen . The garden to the cottage is beautiful and perfect if you have a dog as we did . The hosts are very helpful and the information books are packed with ideas of places to go and things to do . The cakes on arrival were very welcome . I would definitely return to this beautiful cottage

lovely property very well equiped but difficult to find on a cold wet night with cars obstructing the access. More working outside lights and signage would have been nice . did not see anyone the 4 days we were there. Would benefit from some tea coffee milk and sugar etc on arrival.

A great area for country and costal walking. All the pubs and most cafes were dog friendly. Lyme Regis is a vibrant town with plenty going on each evening.

Really nice place - lovely holiday
This property and location is amazing. Very good based to explore the coast and area. The owners are wonderful and the property is presented to the highest standard you could wish for. We stayed in Horseshoe Cottage. We understand from speaking to others the other two cottages are equally stunning. The small village is very quite and the views from the cottages and surrounding areas are simply stunning. We loved it!

Lovely well equipped cottage in a superb location.
As soon as we arrived I knew we would have a lovely weekend in this beautiful renovated cottage. There is everything you need and the location is great for exploring during the day. In the evening there is no need to drive as the village pub served good food, dog friendly and had a great atmosphere too. I would definitely recommend this cottage. Thank you Helen.

Beautiful retreat in glorious setting
This lovely cottage exceeded all expectations. Beautifully furnished with a well-equipped kitchen area and gorgeous outside garden area, we did not want to leave. Plus, there's a really useful adjacent communal laundry room with washer, dryer and a cupboard full of holiday essentials to borrow including picnic baskets. With a handy shop, a truly fantastic, locally renowned farm store, two great local pubs and a plethora of fabulous walks starting right on your doorstep, the picturesque village surroundings really does have it all. What's more, you're only ever 15 minutes away from an incredible choice of beaches; Lyme Regis, Seaton and Beer, with glorious coastal walks to boot. Absolutely must return to this wonderful gem!

Horseshoe Cottage at Valley Farm
The cottage has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and yet retains tons of old features like open beams and small quirky doors. Very comfortable, especially with a 6ft wide bed. The garden is also very nice and tranquil, with sheep in the field next door. Kilmington is a charming, peaceful village with a shop, 2 churches, a garage , and 2 thatched pubs - all you could possibly need. We love the whole area, which we know well, especially Branscombe, Beer, Sidmouth, Lyme Regis and the superb beach cafe at Burton Bradstock . Helen and her husband were very welcoming hosts and we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended.

A beautiful cottage in the heart of a wonderful village. An idyllic setting
The property is provided to an exceptional standard - cosy, beautifully decorated and with everything you could ever want. Gorgeous gardens, lovingly kept and owners who were fantastic in welcoming us but also keeping the right level of privacy. It is very clear that a lot of love, perfection and style have gone into this beautiful cottage. We loved being able to stroll to the local pubs which were wonderful and welcoming particularly to dogs. Great food too. As a base, Kilmington was a great place to stay to allow 30 - 40 minute car journies through gorgeous scenery to places such as Lyme Regis, Exmouth Beach, Sidmouth, Beer beach. We even travelled up to Ilfracombe in North Devon and also to the incredible Cheddar Gorge. I would highly recommend this cottage and would go back in a heart beat.

I'm lively, hard working and love to have fun, happy dressing up or in a pair of muddy wellies! (I also love playing the piano)
I enjoy village life, walking our dogs and good food. River Cottage HQ is only a few minutes away and occasionally we treat ourselves to one of their delicious lunches. Yum.
(A little bit of fossil hunting creeps into my spare time too).
My mottos? We only live once, do unto others as we would like done to us, and endeavour to be kind, thoughtful and forgiving.

Why they chose this property

Nestled in picturesque Kilmington, close to Lyme Regis, Valley Farm Holiday Cottages are three tastefully and sympathetically converted 18th from Century traditional flint barns. Our cottages are dog friendly.

Whilst situated just off the village green, the cottage and gardens have breath-taking, widespread countryside views. The cottages are perfectly situated on the Devon/Dorset/Somerset boundary for discovering the area and the many varied local attractions.
A little known pure haven, Kilmington is in a designated area of superb natural beauty and is spot on for anyone seeking a getaway from it all holiday or simply a short break.
The World Heritage Jurassic Coastline, famous for its beauty and fossils and popular seaside port of Lyme Regis are just 10 minutes away. The elegant regency resort of Sidmouth with beaches, shops, restaurants and galleries are also within easy reach.
Nearby are the superb coastal villages of Beer and Branscombe. Beaches are only 5 miles away (Lyme Regis being sand) and within easy reach are the towns of Taunton and Exeter, both steeped in history and are fantastic for shopping.
With so much nearby to see and do you can be an adrenaline junkie, enjoy a quiet walk in the countryside, shop or simply relax on the beach, on the beach, discover the great local visitor attractions or have a quiet romantic getaway, All are within your reach here at Valley Farm Holiday Cottages.

River Cottage HQ is only a short drive where guests can enjoy a lunch or choose one of their fabulous courses. Many renowned restaurants are within easy reach. This area is guaranteed to put a smile on any foodies face.

Kilmington is a small, friendly village with outstanding facilities, nestling within two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Winner twice of “ Best Village of the Year” we boast beautiful lanes, local walks, a village green, tennis courts, play area and cricket pavilion, two churches, village shop and post office and “Miller’s” – Kilmington’s locally renowned farm shop.

Valley Farm is situated on The Green opposite the village shop, yet to the rear we open out onto rolling fields with outstanding views of the Axe Valley.

A few minutes’ walk through the village will take you to either of our two thatched village pubs where guests can relax, chill in the gardens, enjoy a meal or play a game of skittles.
