About this property

A Traditional Detached Cottage set in a country lane in the hills near Ludlow

This detached 3 bedroomed stone and brick cottage sleeps up to six in two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom is open all year round. The 23 ft (7.6m) lounge/diner has exposed beams, 3 two seater sofas and a dining table for 6 guests, 2 wood burning stoves, BT fibre Wi-Fi, TV with DVD/Blu-Ray player and lots of family DVDs. The kitchen has ceramic hob fridge/freezer, wine cooler, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The cottage is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) set in a quiet lane in its own grounds. It is on the edge of open heathland from which there are many walks and magnificent views. Just come and relax in the beautiful surroundings. It's ideal for a memorable, enjoyable or romantic break or that well deserved holiday.

The character stone and brick cottage was originally built in about 1850, there are steep stairs to the bedrooms, (each with TV) and a downstairs bathroom. Original parts of the cottage are stone, much is brick built leaving curious shelves and ledges inside. It's great for country lovers and walkers, with a diversity of wildlife & scenic walks from the doorstep, either an easy stroll or more strenuous hike across the hills.

As the cottage very has steep stairs and low opening windows in the bedrooms, which may not be suitable for young children. Please contact us for details. We have careful parking for 2 cars right next to the cottage. We cannot accept bookings from guests with more than 2 cars. We cannot accept animals under any circumstances.

Lovely cottage with everything you need
The cottage is in a lovely rural location. It is very well equipped with everything you could need. It was very warm and cosy and we appreciated the logs and coal that were provided. Chris was very helpful, answered all our questions about the cottage promptly and provided very detailed directions. We loved the rural location with lots of lovely walks from the cottage and in the Shropshire Hills.

great cottage in a wonderful place
We enjoyed our stay very much in Knowle, situated down a very quiet country lane, 5 houses and fields. The cottage has nearly everything you need for your stay, Warm and cosy with the heating and 2 log burners if you need both on which we didnt. We had snow on boxing day evening, a snowman was rolled together Wednesday morning and the village was like living in Austria, beautiful. All in all a lovely place to stay , very helpful hosts when a question needed to be asked, will be back in the future for a walking holiday . Karen and Neil Johnson

COMFORTABLE & COSY CHRISTMAS on CLEE HILL
Exceptionally well-equipped, warm and welcoming cottage nestling in the beautiful scenery of south Shropshire. It really was a 'home from home' and the addition of a decorated Christmas tree in the living room was a lovely surprise! We also appreciated the washing machine/dryer and all other 'mod cons' which made our stay so comfortable. Sat Nav meant we were able to drive straight there despite the horrendous weather on the evening we arrived! Customer service was excellent and we were urged to contact the owner should there be any problems. There weren't. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends/relatives, though must mention that the stairs are extremely steep and not for anyone who has problems with knees, balance etc., (thinking of elderly relatives). We visited Ludlow and the surrounding area, and would have liked to visit the Fishχp shop on Clee Hill but it was closed over the Christmas period! Would definitely return. No question about it.

value for money
we enjoyed our stay the cottage provided us with everything we needed, especially the tv package plenty of movies for the kids as we had one very wet day and it provided us with the entertainment we needed. there were other little extras we werent expecting, there was plenty of towels, washing up liquid, tea towels, toilet rolls which was nice as in the past we have stayed in haven caravans and you get nothing in them. the cottage was clean, tidy, the kitchen has everything you need, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle. the bedrooms are spacious and clean. the main issues for us were the stairs they are very steep and with kids we were paranoid of them falling, especially in the night as you have to go down them to use the toilet, but no one did. we felt the bathroom would benefit from joining the bath and shower together so you could have a big bath with shower over head. this cottage is ideal for walkers and lovers of peace and quiet. the garden was on the small side for us so we sent our boys to the field to play. it was close to the attractions we wanted, west midlands safari park, cadbury world and bridgnorth. would be nice to see the pub reopen as its so close the cottage but we stocked up at the local tesco.

We have known beautiful unspoilt south Shropshire since visiting as children ourselves. We bought our cottage 19 years ago when our own children had grown up and we have now been letting it for the past 18 years. We enjoy all parts of the UK countryside - but we feel Shropshire and the Welsh borders are best.

Why they chose this property

We chose this cottage, as we knew the area to be great walking country, has beautiful scenery and unique towns and villages, with plenty of attractions for children of all ages. The Severn Valley Steam Railway, West Midlands Safari Park, Ironbridge Museums, Spaceguard Centre, Morgan Motors, Go Ape, Victorian Farm, RAF Cosford, Rays Farm and many more all make a great day out.

What makes this property unique

We have a plenty of walks from the garden gate in all directions with very few roads (if any) to cross. As the cottage is 1000 feet above sea level there are magnificent views, especially from the top of Clee Hill about 1 mile away. The cottage is set apart from other cottages in a lane which only leads onto the common, where there are a few more cottages and houses. Occasionally a few horse riders go by onto the common.
