About this property

Salobreña Old Town Duplex: Stylish, Comfortable & Peaceful.

Built in the 60's in a sought after lower part of Salobrena's old town, among Spanish neighbours, the house is unusually spacious for its location, bright and with good proportions, approximately 75 sqm. The property benefits from being a 10 minute walk (600 metres) to the sea front and a 5 minute walk to the town centre where you will find a local market, large supermarkets, banks and shops. The property is situated in a particularly quiet cul-de-sac with no traffic noise. There is car access to the front door at street level.

Everything is included so you can relax: kitchen utensils, high-speed WiFi, bed linen, towels, a welcome pack of food and, of course, impeccable cleaning.

The house is arranged over two floors and two sets of stairs, conveniently separating the living and sleeping areas.

On the ground floor, the staircase leads to a large open plan kitchen, living room and terrace. The terrace faces south-east and receives sunlight from morning until well into the afternoon, providing shelter from the local winds and a mild & pleasant temperature inside the property all year round! White laminate floors, original stone walls, a large corner sofa, vintage table and lamps, air conditioning/heating, mood lighting, books, WiFi, a 65' SmartTV... even an original school blackboard!

Downstairs there are two comfortable air-conditioned bedrooms overlooking a quiet pedestrian street, a metro tiled bathroom with an extra large shower and a toilet. If you are staying with young children, safety gates can easily be fitted to the stairs. With a queen size bed (150cm) and two single beds (90cm), the house can sleep up to a maximum of 4 people. We also have a baby cot.

A car is not essential but is recommended for those wishing to explore nearby towns and beaches. Parking is generally available at the end of the street and on the parallel road, Ladera de La Cruz. Parking can take longer during the summer months, Easter and Christmas. A bus (number 2) runs from the modern part of Salobrena through the old town, past Al Salam and up to the castle.

As a Spaniard who spends most of my time in London, Salobrena has everything I look for when I return to my country: authenticity, great weather & beautiful surroundings. In 2005 I decided to look for a townhouse with potential until I found this one. I am now enjoying decorating it to make it a comfortable, safe, spacious and stylish holiday home. The last major upgrade was done in April 2019, when I installed a wooden floor in the living room, but I'm always making small improvements.

You guessed it - this is neither a beach apartment nor a villa with a swimming pool, but rather a charming townhouse where you can feel part of the city life, a privileged base from which to explore the Costa Tropical, a quiet place to work from, a safe place to retreat to after a day out.

Fantastic Old Town Apartment
We stayed 40 nights in Jorge's apartment and used it as a base for exploring the Costa Tropical and Andalusia. It was perfect and we feel we made a great choice. Well-appointed premises with easy access to everything (cautionary note - it is a climb of 160 steps from the bottom to the street where the apartment is located so a reasonable measure of fitness is handy!). Jorge is a pleasant and attentive host with excellent communication. Any at site questions were quickly attended to by the manager/contact Lidia. Thanks Jorge for hosting our excellent stay!

A Great Stay
We really enjoyed our stay in Salobrena at Jorge's house. The property is lovely and ideally located for both the beach and the old town where you can enjoy some authentic Spanish cuisine. We also loved the really comfy beds and thought the house was extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. A huge thank you to Jorge and a huge recommendation to all.

comfortable and stylish
Enjoyed our stay with our 4 yr old who loved the upside down house (going upstairs to the living room never got boring for her!). The house is well designed, good use of space and all of the amenities you need with great views. Highly recommend the house and the town which is so friendly with loads of great bars and restaurants. And being so close to the beach was great. Lots of helpful information from Jorge when we booked and the lovely Rita looked after us really well. Would stay there again.

Great location and a 'real' home
Perfect location to feel like you are actually in a real functioning town not just a holiday resort but just 10 minute walk to the beach, Additionally Jorge's house is very homely with lots of stylish and practical touches that make you feel at home. The kitchen has everything you need but there are lots of restaurants within a short walk that you might not use it too much. Although the biggest surprise for us was just how quiet the location is even though it is so central to everything..

The best place to stay!
I've been in Salobreña several times now and I must say that this home away from home, where I spent some days last month, is fantastic. Bright, very comfortable, spacious, equipped with everything you need and in a great location. It is in the old part of town, so the most charming places are just a step away, as well as a nice grocery store at just 10 meters away. Both Jorge, the owner, and Rita, the house keeper, are charming and helpful with anything you could need. A great choice, will be back. Thanks Jorge!

Wonderful house for holidays at Salobrena
The property is comfortable with very lightness. Clean and well maintained. All necessary equipment is available both at the bed rooms as well as in the kitchen. Also the "good spirit " of house Rita is friendly and every time helpful. Definitely we can recommend to rent this Duplex located at the Old Area from Salobrena. Lovely, well equipped flat in old part of town of Salobrena
We loved this flat and Salobrena, and spend some very nice days there. The flat is well-equipped und has a beautiful decor. We even got some food (e.g. fruits) upon arrival. Parking might be a bit difficult, and we usually parked in the beach area.. its an easy way up to the old part of town where the flat is located (10 min). We visited Granada (45 min by car) which was also great. Thanks Jorge!

Very comfortable, and just as pictured.
We stayed for about six weeks at Jorge place. I very much appreciated the weekly sheet and towel changes as well as the cleaning that came with this property. His manager Lidia was fantastic. This was a great location for taking a lot of overnight trips to less known towns with so much fantastic history. I agree with an earlier review it’s a little tricky, finding the place but once you you get it down, it’s pretty straightforward. Parking was available for roughly 95% of our trip. Sometimes we had to park down in town and walk up the hill but it was a minor inconvenience.

Fantastic winter break
The property was just as described by Jorge. We loved the location, and the challenge of the 165 step, but please note, it's easy to catch the little bus which runs every half hour. The bed was so comfortable, we both had wonderful nights sleep. We enjoyed the big tele, the fantastic shower and the ambience of the house. It was a pleasure returning there after our explorations. The heating was efficient, and we were always cosy and warm. We were there for a month, and I could have spent another month there. I think that says it all!

Relaxing holiday in townhouse in Salobreña .
We enjoyed our holiday in Salobreña very much. Apart from the beach (we have found a relative lonely (but stony) beach towards Malaga called “Playa del Molino de Papel” where we have been quite often with our rental car), we have made many trips around Salobreña (we visited Malaga, Granada with the Alhambra, Sierra Nevada, Ronda, Seville and Cordoba) and we enjoyed nature as well as culture in Andalusia very much. But first of all we enjoyed the comfort of the house in Salobreña: While we were also eating (for instance in the restaurant “Pesetas” with its fabulous view) we loved it to cook with the fresh vegetables available in Salobreña and enjoyed also the view from the balcony in the evening. Essentially we have nothing missed and felt very comfortable. Jorge, thank you for the opportunity to spend this relaxing holiday in your house in Salobreña.

It was a wonderful stay
We stayed at this porperty for 4 nights and it had a very good layout with 2 bedrooms, the bath and a washingmachine (in a separate utility room) downstairs. Upstairs is a big living room connected to an open kitchen. The kitchen was well equipped including microwave and oven. From the balcony you could see the mediteranien sea which is only 10min walk away. The property was very clean and it felt really homely there. The property is in the old part of Salobrena with narrow winding street´s but no problem to find with sat nav (Navi, GPS). Charming bars are just a short walk away and daily shopping was no problem as there are 3 big superstores near by. The owner of the property is very helpful. He gave us a lot of advise and tips. It is helpful to know a little bit of Spanish because the local contact speaks only Spanish but was very helpful. We think the property is always worth a visit.

Our week in Salabreňa
Jorge's house is lovely! What you see in the photographs is exactly what you get. Very pretty and super functional. Fab kitchen though it would have been nice too have had a small store of essentials like salt, pepper, olive oil etc as if you even want to cook the simplest meal you have to buy everything from scratch. We left everything we bought, hopefully for the next people to make use of. The area is great! The beach is delightful, with great beach shops and restaurants. A warning though, the approach from lower town to the house is steep and the stairs down to the beach road are many, I managed it even though I'm in my 70's but be warned, it's not for the infirm. The view of the sea and the mountains from the balcony is an extra bonus. The beds are comfortable and the linen good, pillows rather solid though and the beds weren't made up when we got there but we soon discovered the duvets in the wardrobes. Do take the no 2 bus from the end of the road up to the castle, it's well worth it for the views alone and very interesting history. On your way back down check into Eno's lovely little studio, you can't miss it and tell him we said hi. Suze and Fen

Excellent place from which to explore
We traveled from the cold of US Midwest to Salobrena and enjoyed our time there greatly. As you might imagine, one issue early on was getting to the place - Salobrena is on a hilltop and finding the right streets to get up to the apartment was difficult at first. But the contact person was gracious and met us and led us there and we soon learned how to get around with no problem. It's a great site, overlooking the Mediterranean from the end of the street & from the balcony [we enjoyed especially the NewYearsEve fireworks from there]. It's well-appointed, clean and neat, comfortable and spacious [perfect for 2-4 people]. Everything you could want [in the kitchen & laundry] was supplied and it is well-located to just stroll around the town. There's a small shop at the end of the street with necessities and large grocery stores not that far away. And restaurants all within walking distance. We did alot of walking - up to the castle and down to the beach. And drove to Granada easily [takes about an hour and excellent highways all the way]. We also drove along the coastal road and stopped in and saw the small towns, enjoying each of them. We very much enjoyed our time there and the property was just as advertised here. Excellent communications before and during the stay as well.

A fabulously stylish but extremely comfortable apartment. In a great location.
We stayed here for the 1st week in January and have been so happy with the location and ease and comfort if the apartment. Fell in love with the styling and lovely touches in the furnishings and the fab lighting collection. The bed was really comfy and the shower and bathroom so easy and spacious. The location was perfect for beach walks and great access to motorways to explore inland. Was great to be here during the 3 Kings bank holiday and the place was buzzing with soanish families all out to lunch along the many gorgeous restaurants around the beach area. Coming in January Salobrena had a really Spanish feel without all the tourists and we hardly heard an english speaking voice, which we loved and gave us chance to work on our spanish. We had great weather, gorgeous warm sunshine perfect for walking around in. Chilly at night but the lounge and that amazing sofa was perfect for cosying up beneath a blanket and reading. The huge TV was a bonus and we enjoyed you tubeing music on it. We loved the beautiful quiet village of Niguelas just off the motorway near Durcal and the views frim Pinos de Valle were stunning. An amazing week, thank you Jorge.

Super recommended
This apartment seems to be taken out of a magazine. Everything from the structure to the design and small details. Attentive host. The apartment is obviously up a steep road, as is the whole old town, but it is relatively close to the bottom part of town and to the beach. Do note that there are 2 flights of stairs (we were there with a baby and it didn't bother us). And while you're here, do go to Restaurante La Roka - absolutely beautiful spot with unmatched food for very reasonable price.

Jorge's Casa
We felt comfortable in Jorge's casa from the moment we arrived. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated. The attention to detail is impressive. A lot of thought has gone into making guests' stay a success. The communication with the owner was very good. Situated in a quiet area of the old town it is ideal for both town and beach. The only possible negative is that there are two lots of stairs in the property and a lot stairs in the general area so it may not be suitable for people who have mobility problems. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future.

Charming house, charming place.
We enjoyed our stay at Jorges Casa. The apartment has all you need, from the well equipped kitchen to the bedrooms with extra cushions. Bathroom is spacious. All was very clean and in place when we arrived. The Old town in Salobrena is very charming, and its a short walk from the apartment down to the town center and the beach. Our communication with Jorge was very good, and he also provided extra service for us due to allergies. We are very satisfied with our stay and the process of renting via Jorge and HomeAway.

About the host

Hosted by Jorge Postigo

Host profile image
I am a Spanish national living between London and Spain. I take great care to keep my property in Salobrena in top condition, spending time decorating it in an unfussy, elegant style, using natural, high quality materials and furnishings. When I am back in Andalusia I like to soak up the atmosphere of the town, walking the streets, talking to people and appreciating the little things that make life enjoyable. When I am at home, I like to relax in comfortable spaces that are uncluttered and authentic. I want my guests to feel the same when they stay in Salobrena. I have a local housekeeper who takes care of keys, cleaning and solving any problems on the spot. I am also always available. When I am not working or thinking about how to improve my property, I am doing yoga, open water swimming, listening to flamenco and looking for furniture with character! I hope some of my personality comes through in my home.

Why they chose this property

In 2004 I found a townhouse built in the 60s with lots of charm and potential. I liked the open space and the way it was laid out, with the living/cooking and sleeping areas on two separate floors. Now I am enjoying renovating and decorating it to create a comfortable, spacious and stylish holiday home.

What makes this property unique

Comfortable & bright, it is only a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 50 minute drive to the motorway to Granada and Malaga. Clean, tidy & crisp, it is a place where you can really feel at home. The property always has an ideal indoor temperature, which can be controlled with the HVAC units. Salobrena itself is a small town with a picturesque old town where the property is located. Salobrena is lively all year round, not just during the summer months. The Costa Tropical is much less well known than the Costa del Sol, there are many coastal and mountain towns, coves and beaches to discover.
