A yurt is a tent-like circular fabric structure with a wood lattice frame that originated among the nomadic tribes in Asia. These permanent, colorful structures have thick canvas exterior walls that include reflective insulation and a high efficiency heat pump/AC unit so you can be comfortable during any season. Yurts are quickly becoming a new vacation experience that vacationers are enjoying throughout the US from cliff side views in California to ski lodges in Colorado. This is a memorable place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Acadia!

We had a great visit to Acadia and this clamping yurt was the perfect middle ground between camping and getting a hotel. The space was clean, bed was comfy and hosts were very communicative, but not hovering.
Great property managers and awesome amenities. We took our 4 month old on his first vacation ever to a Tiny house while my family stayed in a yurt. From the in-house coffee to the campsite laundromat, I had everything I needed to have a fun, relaxing, worry-free time as a new mom!
This yurt had everything we needed and much more room than a hotel room. Very peaceful area and not far from the main road at all. This gave the camping feel yet had the nice amenities to go with.
It was away from the park loop road which we thought it was going to be an issue, but we spent half of our time on this side anyways so it worked out for the location. The host gave lots of good places to go also in their book. If I went to Acadia again I would stay here.
Our extended family rented 4 yurts for a week and absolutely loved the experience. Acadia Yurts are perfectly located to allow for a remote feel, yet still have easy access to all that MDI has to offer. Yurt life has a camping atmosphere but with the luxuries of showers, a real bed, and simple cooking. Our family was able to spend quality time together but all have personal space. We had an amazing week and plan to be back again soon!
We traveled up to Acadia from the Boston area for a few days. We enjoyed the serenity of the yurt, and also the ability to cook some of our own meals. We did not take advantage of some of the amenities (i.e., the Wellness Center), but we plan to the next time we visit. It can get bright in mornings, so perhaps bring a sleep mask if sunlight wakes you up. All in all, it was as advertised and very cute.
We had a great experience! The yurt was extremely clean and comfortable, and close to everything we wanted to do in Maine. I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay near Acadia and have a fun and unique experience!
The yurt was very clean, and it was such a fun place to stay! We were only there for 3 nights, and with so much to do in the area, we just didn't have time to take full advantage of everything that Acadia Yurts has to offer (fire pit, wellness center, etc), but we'll definitely plan another (longer) stay there!
This location was the perfect place to stay while hiking in Acadia. We were 20 minutes away from any desired location and were able to use the wellness center amenities to recover from the trails. The yurts were also a super high quality with all our needs provided. One of our favorite parts was getting morning air on our “porch” eating bagels and drinking the great coffee provided by the hosts!
This was the first time that my bf and I stayed in a yurt, and we both loved it! The yurt was very clean and much more spacious than I was expecting. The week we stayed had cooler temps and the heater in the yurt had no issues maintaining a cozy 70 degrees. The hosts provided wonderful recommendations for restaurants and hikes and responded timely to our questions. We would definitely recommend to anyone who’s interested in glamping!
Acadia Yurts is a fantastic place to stay. It is glamping to the max. The yurt was very clean and well equipped. It is close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park that you can get there quickly, yet it is far enough away that you can enjoy the peace and quiet of being in the woods. I highly recommend staying at Acadia Yurts.
We loved staying in the yurt. It had everything we needed and Karen was so quick to respond. The bed was amazingly firm which was a must. The water heater worked very well and the “neighborhood” was quiet and serene. A much needed respite allowing us to relax and get away to the woods of Acadia National Park. Thanks for the experience!
Loved our stay at Acadia Yurts. The yurt was very well, equipped, and the location was fantastic on the quiet side of the island. Very easy location to access the park as well as lots of other local features. The entire property was fantastic. Very close to a fantastic coffee shop.
The yurt was a lot roomier than most hotels and is located in a much more peaceful atmosphere. If you are looking for something tucked away from the overcrowded hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, then this yurt's for you. Hosts were very helpful and responsive. Environment controls (AC / heat) worked great and did not ever feel uncomfortable. The property is lovely and quiet.
I am not a camper anymore but the Yurt made it feel like I was. We had plenty of space and the amenities of home. The Yurt was up to date in comfort and in a quiet area. I would definitely stay here again.
My family loved our stay at Acadia yurts! The yurts are cozy and well appointed and we loved the location - nestled in the woods and away from the hustle and bustle.
It was a perfect place to retreat to after spending time in Acadia and around the Island's busy towns. We can't wait to return!
What a delightful way to end the season. The Yurt was excellent. Very clean with all amenities. The ease of getting to and from Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor was simple. Hiking in Acadia is always wonderful and being able to return to the yurt at the end of a wet day was perfect. We are already looking for a space in our travels next year for a return trip.

Aaron is an Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for the past 15+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.
Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite.
As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home- running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We deeply hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!!
