We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this lovely cottage. The views of the river are amazing, and even more so with the glorious October fall color. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable. We cooked in a few nights and dined out at several terrific nearby restaurants. Enjoying a glass of wine on the waterfront deck before dinner was a nice routine to fall into. We particularly enjoyed a day trip to the Fundy Trail, a gorgeous park. Thank you for this opportunity to enjoy a most memorable vacation. We would like very much to rent this cottage again!
We thorough enjoyed our stay. The cottage is much larger than the photos suggest. Beautifully decorated with antiques and period pieces.
Sadly, with my husband’s mobility issues, we were unable to take advantage of the lovely lower deck and fire pit.
Cathy is an excellent host. Quick to respond and so helpful. I strongly recommend this property.
We had a nice time but were frustrated with WiFi, TV and cell service there. You couldn’t really work remotely I think. Also had to sweep off the deck as it was full of tree droppings. Place was quaint though and lots of supplies which is kind of rare. Owner was helpful trying to get things working but they live three time zones away. We were also surprised by service fees, taxes and cleaning fees which were quite high. It would be better to stay a lot longer but we were pressed for time. Our fault.

Very Good
We enjoyed our stay, the kitchen was very well equipped, lots of linens in the bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Views were great although we would recommend some of the bushes and branches be cut back. We would stay there again and recommend it to others.
I stayed at this cottage for 5 weeks while helping out my daughter and her family prepare for a new baby. The location is perfect, close to the town of Grand Bay and just 20 minutes to the city of Saint John. The views of the river from the large windowns and back deck are stunning especially the sunrise over the water. The cottage is well stocked with everything you would need and very cozy and comfortable.
The cottage is very well equipped, and was a great launch point to explore New Brunswick parks. The decks were a great place to sit and stare at the river, and the night sky was amazing.I loved the hi-tech tea kettle, and may have to get one.
Met some out of country family for first time and the location was near them. Perfectly situated for us with fantastic view of St. John River. Very cozy. Would recommend and would book here again. Owners we’re so prompt replying to inquiries.
Lovely property in a beautiful, quiet setting. Great recommendations for things to do and places to eat from the host. Would definitely recommend!

Great cottage!
We found the cottage very cozy and clean. The king size bed was very comfortable. The cottage has nice oversized windows overlooking the river. What we saw of New Brunswick was beautiful! We enjoyed our stay very much.
Very well maintained. Excellent view of the Saint John river. Good arrangement of rooms, furniture etc. Good communication with Cathy. Very satisfied with our stay there.
Amazing experience, such a beautiful cottage right on the river - early mornings were the best, sitting out on the desk enjoying the sun - the cottage was well equipped, we had literally everything we needed. The hosts are lovely and very helpful! We came here to spend some time with our children before our new baby arrives and enjoyed every minute. We will definitely be back here again 🙂
Cottage was very clean comfortable.
One of my regrets was not asking enough questions on booking because I ended up packing a lot of food/personal care stuffs we did not need. This place was nicely stocked ! You’ll definitely have less packing headaches.
One previous reviewer mentioned road noise, that is in fact the case as the house is very close to a busy road but the view from the back deck makes it worth it.
Thanks for your hospitality
When we arrived we were immediately impressed with the
view and that never got old. I talked to the owner several times to clarify a few things and they were more than helpful. I would recommend this place to all. We had a great stay.

Very disappointing,
First off, the house smelled very musty! We were unable to use the barbecue because it was so dirty with an extreme build up of old grease. The oven was also not clean! The cottage/house was very close to a highway so there was a lot of road noise that could even be heard from the back deck. The private beach could only be accessed by going down 60 plus stairs, which wasn’t practical.
The stay was peaceful, relaxing and hassle free. Ken and Cathy were quick to respond to any questions and the cottage was equipped with everything you would ever need. The location is excellent, both from a convenience and a get-away aspect. While it was peaceful and relaxing the location is such that you are only a short drive from everything. Beautiful spot. Thanks.
There isn’t a better cottage in all of New Brunswick! The view is breathtaking, it is spacious in every room, the beach is therapeutic, The owners have thought of every little detail. The pantry is amazing and there’s every type of pot and pan, tons of glasses dishes and silverware. We so enjoyed the fire pit and walks on the beach. If you’ve stayed in cottages before I think you’ll find this one is is different and special. The cottage itself is an experience. Cathy (owner) is an absolute sweetheart. You just can’t go wrong!!
We had the absolute best time during our stay at Cathy and ken’s home away!
We were able to enjoy all the fall colours, a fire at night with the cool air, and we were able to host family that lived in new Brunswick for appetizers and card games! It was everything we hoped for when looking for a cozy cottage to spend thanksgiving weekend!
The house was spotless yet homey, well-stocked, with everything in great working order. The natural surroundings were stunning and peaceful. Top marks all around!

A home away from home
Completely furnished, beautifully decorated with local and themed art and antique pieces, clean, and cozy, stocked with almost anything you need, indoor and out. A fully stocked pantry with condiments, sauces and some can and dry goods, even coffee and tea! The refrigerator is also on and ready to use. This place and location is also peaceful and quiet, with a beautiful view. After getting to know a little bit about the area I soon realized
this home is conveniently located near the city, shopping, etc. I certainly would love to stay here again. I would highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the Saint John area.

About the host
Hosted by Cathy and Ken Scott
My husband and I grew up in this area and were thrilled when the opportunity arose to purchase this cottage. Currently we can only use it during most of July and August and wish we could stay longer, especially in the fall. We purchased this place particularly for the awesome view from the deck and large windows facing the river. We love the village of Grand Bay-Westfield where you can pick up everything you need without going to the city. We also enjoy walking along the ocean beaches on warmer days where we expierience the tides at all levels. Restaurants in Saint John and Fredericton are very good offering any type of seafood you may enjoy. The butcher and bake shop in the village of Grand Bat/Westfield are excellent. There is also a popular seafood market approximately 15 min away. Many of our friends and neighbours in Alberta look forward to travelling to the Maritimes now that there is perfect place to stay. We hope you will as well.
Why they chose this property
This property is so conveniently located to everything you may wish to enjoy or visit in this area.We are approximately one hour to the U.S. border, one hour to Fredercton, 3 hours to Nova Scotia and 2.5 hours to Prince Edward Island, if your desire is to travel to PEI or Nova Scotia as part of your holiday. For those who want to stay close, there are numerous day trips to experience the tides at Hopewell Cape or just tour the Kingston peninsula with its many ferries and beautiful river views and historical cement warfs built in the early 1900's to accommodate the river boats of the period. Saint John is a port city and the oldest incorporated city in Canada. There is a tremendous amount of historical significance that can be appreciated in this city.
What makes this property unique
River front, beach front with private beach. Boat mooring, large south and east facing deck complete with a fire pit and wood. The cottage is well layed out in an open concept with large river facing windows. You will appreciate the beach type decor and cottage feel. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning and sitting on the beautiful and comfortable adirondack chairs, drinking your coffe and viewing the boats travelling up and down the river. Friday evenings are especially busy watching the sailboats and river boats travel up river to the numerous boating areas for the weekend. Some of these water craft are very impressive. We have our own private beach but there is also a public beach if you wish to drive your car directly to the beach as opposed to using our stairs. The beach is directly in front of the Morrisdale Beach Road lighthouse. There are numerous free riding ferries from the main land to all parts of the Kingston Peninsula which is a popular drive to take during the summer. There is a marina at the Evandale Ferry crossing ( 15 min drive) where you can enjoy a meal or just a cool drink. Kids are welcome to play in the pool at this oldest standing River Boat Hotel (The Eveleigh).
