About this property

Hillview - comfortable cottage, easy access to St Ives

Hillview is a traditional stone cottage in the small, conservation village of Halsetown, just 5 minutes (by car/bus) from St Ives. The Town is renowned for its beautiful beaches, artistic heritage, and wide choice of eating venues. The cottage is at the top of the village above St Ives, well away from the traffic, and has a child-friendly garden. It is conveniently located for day trips to the many West Cornwall attractions. Hillview offers roomy, relaxed accommodation with fine views of the Cornish countryside and impressive sunsets.

Upstairs the cottage has 3 bedrooms (one double, one twin and a smaller third bedroom) plus the bathroom. Downstairs there is an open plan dining/lounge area, with a woodburning stove and original beams. The well equipped kitchen connects to the conservatory and then out into the garden where there's a barbeque and picnic table. There is parking space for two vehicles by the cottage.

Hillview is within safe walking distance of St Ives by public footpath (~30mins) through the fields and small lanes. In the Summer frequent bus services run to and from St Ives from bus stops in the village. The Halsetown Inn, and the Stable Bar at the Polmanter Touring Park, provide local eating choices.

perfect and peaceful stay
The property is excellent, very clean, cosy, tasteful and comfortable. It is more spacious than the impression given on the pictures. The owners did their utmost to make us feel at home. Everything is pleasant, well-kept and tidy.

Home from Home
The property was lovely. It was very clean, tidy and had everything which we needed right down to hand soap and sanitiser. It was a mixture of old world with modern conveniences and seaside themes. We would highly recommend it. Thanks to the owner.

Beautiful traditional cottage.
A really lovely cottage - well cared for and maintained. Great location - very quiet with beautiful sunsets! Loved the secluded garden and the stylish main bedroom and downstairs. Also really liked all the little pieces of art dotted around the house. Hope to visit again!

Schön eingerichtetes Ferienhaus in toller Lage

Perfect holiday in the perfect location.
The three generations of our family all had an incredible time at Hillview Cottage. We loved the views, the quiet location and the ease of getting to all the places that we wanted to visit. The owners have thought of everything that you will need for your stay and you instantly feel at home. The welcome basket is stocked with lots of delicious local produce and very well received by all the family. The small things have been thought of such as tissues in the bedroom, radio, games, pegs etc. It really is like being at home. I particularly enjoyed reading the information about the local area and the history of the village. We will be returning to this part of Cornwall again and will not hesitate to stay at Hillview. Planning our next trip already.

Beautiful, peaceful, immaculate cottage.
The owners have thought of everything for a really great stay. The cottage is decorated and equipped to a very high standard throughout, making for a very comfortable visit. The views from the cottage front are fabulous, and it is only a short drive (or longer stroll) down to beautiful St Ives. The nearby pub is very friendly and offers excellent food and beer. Overall a great stay!

A beautiful cottage, oozing with character! Ian & Angela have thought of everything even down to the cling film to wrap your picnic! Loved the pictures & hanging ornaments which added that coastal/holiday feel to the property. Wonderful views from the upstairs bedroom overlooking the countryside and the sea in the distance. A quiet, pretty area which had the convenience of a pub, bus and also a shop which was located at the nearby campsite. A simply stunning area of Cornwall.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hillview cottage a perfect home away from home. 5 stars
Mum, Dad and 3 daughters arrived from London on the night of storm Brian and we were very grateful for the wood and kindling left by our generous hosts. Hillview cottage is cosy and spacious everything you need is here. We arrived to lovely welcome pack containing scrumptious Cornish goodies, and the cottage has lots of information on the surrounding areas, we loved reading about the history of Hillview. The view from the cottage is simply wonderful. On our first night we had pre booked a table at The Halestown Inn (5 minute walk from cottage), the food is really good here and they have a very good vegan option. 4 miles away is Zennor, we did the moderate circular route which we found in the book of walks in the cottage. (see everything you need is here) The Walk has stunning views and the scenery was simply breathtaking. On our return we stopped in The Tinners Arms, a lovely pub with great food (there is a vegan option) and a huge open fire. We received a lovely warm welcome. They also have a folk night on Thursday's which is very good. Everywhere is close by. We visited St Michael's Mount, Marazion, Mousehole, Landsend, St Just, Porthcurno, Penzance, Porthleven, Carbis Bay and of course the beautiful St Ive's. There is a great path that takes you right into the top of St Ives and takes about 40 minutes to walk from the cottage. If you only have time for one museum/gallery we would highly recommend The Barbara Hepworth museum, what a life! Porthmeor beach Café has delicious food with a lovely view of the beach. (good vegan option) Ian and Angela have created a delightful space which is decorated to a high standard, we loved staying here and all of the little touches were greatly appreciated. Don't hesitate press the book button! Thank you for everything.

Great Cornish cottage with history
We were partly here for a family wedding as well as a holiday. Weather not brilliant but this is Cornwall and it isn't always sunny here. Some great days out on beaches of St Ives , Carbis Bay and Praa Sands. Coasteering was great and very cold. We discovered that you can park at St Ives Rugby Club for £5 and the catch a bus into town. Really useful in a busy place. We had a great holiday and Ian and Angela left a lovely welcome pack.Thank you we'll certainly try and come again.

Beautiful cottage in the perfect location to explore the Land's End Peninsula, 5 out of 5 for sure!!
Ian and Angela couldn't have done more to ensure we had a brilliant holiday. The welcome Cornish offerings, beautifully presented Cottage and excellent communication and helpfulness all ensured we had a great time. The Cottage itself was extremely clean and full of character. The views were far reaching and once we'd realised the parking space was on the road behind the property and not on the grassy path in front (thanks SatNav!), we soon settled into our holiday and were able to completely relax well away from work. St Ives is lovely, particularly around the harbour early evening. The best beaches we found were Porthcurno, Porthgwarra (perfect) and Kynance. We took our 5 year old son to the Minack Theatre twice as it was incredible, he loved it and we can't recommend it highly enough. St Michael's Mount and exploring the Lizard Peninsula were other highlights, as were our walks along the SW Coast path, particularly around Land's End. Happy days and great memories! Thanks so much to Ian and Angela.

peaceful location great views cosy cottage
we had a great 4 days here and loved the cottage which was well equipped. Enjoyed new years eve in St Ives and Christmas lights at Mousehole. We arrived to find a selection of local goodies , eggs, coffee, tea, biscuits, cake which was a lovely touch. The owner was nearby and very helpful. The cottage is outside St Ives which made it quicker to travel around the rest of Cornwall without town traffic. We also enjoyed walking down into the town across the fields and lanes a good antedote to the pasties and lovely local food.

Beautiful cottage,peaceful location.
We stayed at Hillview for a week and loved it :-)) The cottage is situated in a peaceful location with beautiful views of the countryside. Ian and Angela left a basket of local goodies, milk and butter for us on arrival.A lovely gesture which was very much appreciated. There is a good selection of books, games,DVDs etc in the cottage. Local tourist attraction publicity and maps are provided. We found plenty to occupy us in the surrounding area,a week is simply not long enough to fit it all in,so therefore we will need to return again!!!!!!! In our opinion Ian and Angela have tried very hard to create a beautiful, welcoming, cosy cottage for guests to enjoy. I would recommend Hillview and fully intend to return in the future. :-))) Mick and Karen Proctor

Perfect location for visiting attractions in south west Cornwall
A beautifully appointed cottage on the outskirts of St. Ives perfectly located in a small, quiet village with easy route to A30. Access to the cottage suits more able-bodied guests as there are a number of steps from the roadside parking space, it is well equipped and the wood burning stove (with plenty of chopped wood supplied) makes it a cosy home-from-home. The cottage has one toilet situated in the bathroom - not a deal breaker for a family of four but something to consider if some guests like to take long, relaxing baths. The owners provided great information about the local area and were easily contacted for enquiries.
