Another relaxing and fun vacation! The Sisu House is our go-to every winter. The hosts provide wonderful accommodations and are very responsive. We appreciate the opportunity to stay here year after year!
Sisu house is a great place to stay for a snowmobiling trip! The house is clean, warm and comfortable and Diane is lovely and personable. It’s an easy short distance to the trails. Would definitely stay here again!
This home was perfect for our family of four. We stayed for a weekend of snowmobiling and this location was wonderful. Plenty of space to park truck and trailer. Home was beautiful and was equipped wonderfully. Only suggestion would be a more comfortable couch. Diane was an excellent and very responsive host.
Great place to stay. About a mile to get the snowmobiles to the actual trail but very doable. Super nice place, beds were very comfy. The only complaint i have is its going to cost you 60 more dollars than what this app shows. So much for no hidden fees, it won't let you checkout without it. It's dianes childhood home, she's allowed to be protective. End of the day i would stay here again. Just don't charge me for things i was never going to do.
Owner charged $100 for "Tire marks on deck walkway." Asked for photo showing the marks, but none was provided. My nephew has a small, kids e-bike that he brought inside one night. I can't imagine that the marks couldn't have just be wiped off. $100 is ridiculous. I think owner was just trying to find something to charge us for since we had five people instead of our planned two. My nephews and brother decided to come last minute.
Photos do not depict the house well. It's very close to a major road. Bathroom is in basement. Living room is tiny. Tub was "out of order". Toaster didn't work. Bed was incredibly squeaky. Owner's requirement to come to property and have me fill out a registration card was absurd. I have never experienced that with another VRBO property. On the plus side, house was clean and had plenty of amenities. Despite that, we will never stay here again.
The Sisu House was the perfect place for me and my friend to enjoy the fall colors of Northern MN. Situated in Finland, we were the perfect distance away from the hustle of determined leaf peepers, but close enough to local restaurants and roads to explore. My only regret was that we did not stay another night to hangout in the house and read books while rain sprinkled down. Diane is an excellent host, and very welcoming. She also must be a foodie because the kitchen was stocked with all the supplies you would need for making your own meals. I hope to stay here again soon!
We used the cabin as our base camp for our Father and Son hunting trip. We have stayed here before and will again. We love it! So comfortable and inviting. Works very well for our group of 4.
House is gorgeous. Diane is lovely. Beds are super comfy, rooms are clean and the kitchen has all the pots/pans/cooking stuff you'd ever need. Diane even provided puzzles, movies, teas, cider, cocoa, books - in addition to so many towels in case needed - fireplace cozy for chilly nights, AC for warmer temps. Wifi was great. Bathroom in the basement was perfect for us - no waking anyone up with toilet flushing or showers! Beautiful backyard with chairs around the campfire and fire wood available too. Didn't get to use the Weber grill, but so nice to have. Communication was top notch!
We really enjoyed our stay and really enjoyed learning the history of the house.. the house was very clean and easy to find.. would definitely stay here again
My husband and I did a quick getaway to watch the meteor shower happening. While Mother Nature didn’t want to cooperate, the house was perfect! Everything you need. The local towns were fun and friendly. Will go back!
It was the perfect location for visiting family and seeing our new baby granddaughter who lives in the same hometown.
The cottage was clean having everything we needed and loved the a/c since it was a hot humid week.
The claw foot tub was out of order and I may have enjoyed a nice bath but it was still a very well equipped home in a nice quiet area.
Me and my sister stayed here for a few nights and it was a wonderful place to stay! Plenty of space and the fireplace was nice! Not too far from Ely or some of the state Parks in the area while still being private. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice place to stay up north!
Beautiful little home with obvious care taken to clean and maintain it. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. Would definitely stay again.
This is a lovely little cottage, very clean and well-maintained, with a kitchen well=stocked with dishes, pots, pans, basic appliances. Diane was very helpful - she brought over a couple things we needed when we called her. The location is quiet and beautiful and handy for exploring the North Shore. We had a wonderful time.
We had a wonderful time exploring the area, and this cabin was the perfect location for us. Clean, quiet, spacious, and very cozy. Would definitely stay again when we come back to the area.
Very well kept home, comfortable and easy access to trails and Tettegouche State park. Would definitely consider booking again if we stayed in the area.
Darling little house in a quiet location. Beautifully remodeled and moderized, and comfortable. House was so well stocked, better than most short term rentals, and clean. Central to many North Shore attractions.
Went here over memorial day weekend with my fiancee. Perfect launch point for northshore hiking.

This is my childhood home, recently & totally renovated. We are proud of our Finnish heritage and that's why we chose the Sisu name. Sisu in Finnish means tenacity in the face of adversity, guts, 'stick to it'- tiveness
What makes this property unique
We wanted to keep the feeling and charm of an older home. But we do enjoy and have installed modern comforts (most recent: central air conditioning and WIFI)
