The beautiful Historic Crags Lodge is located in Estes Park, Colorado, which is known as "The Gateway to the Rockies". Aside from the stunning and breathtaking scenery you will experience, you can get quite a sampling of wildlife. The Rockies are known for a great abundance of elk, deer, bighorn sheep, black bear and much more. Though many come to enjoy outdoor adventure activities, simply watching the wildlife can be one of the best ways to enjoy this area.

The Historic Crags Lodge is everything you would hope to find in a quiet, quaint Colorado retreat. While the lodge retains its historic, rustic charm, it has a modern appeal, as well as most of the amenities you will find anywhere else.

Lovely experience at the lodge

Had an amazing experience at the lodge. The suite was clean and well maintained. The staff were great. I wish the restaurant was open for breakfast and lunch. I have to mention that Barbara is no less than an angel to us. I went hiking with my daughter and my disabled mother graciously agreed to stay back at the lodge. Barbara checked on her periodically and was extremely caring towards my mother. I will never forget my experience here. The lodge had a very homely feel to it. We had to wait a few hours for our ride after we checked out on the day we left. The staff let us hang out at the lobby are and were very nice. Will recommend this place to our friends.

Good location. Private area but close to center of town without the hubbub or noise. Beautiful property with character and personality.

Beautiful old lodge in a great setting.

The place is really lovely. Beautiful setting and grounds, historic interior. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were make-your-own-s’mores by the fire the first evening we arrived - nice! The actual room - while very clean - was a bit shabby, especially the carpet. (The bathroom was updated and very attractive, though). Since we were there to hike, the room wasn’t that important to us.

Our studio was so clean, well equipped and had very comfortable bed.

Beth was so gracious and kind. She allowed us to check in early traveling from Missouri. Our room had a lovely view and exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, pool and other main lodge amenities. Smores over the fire in lodge fireplace was so generous each evening. Would stay again for certain!

Lovely historic lodge with modernized studios. Able to prepare our meals and enjoy at our table looking out on Estes Park and the Rockies. Pool and hot tub were amazing with Rockies overlooking.

Idealism Location

Estes Park is packed in the summer and the Historic Crag Lodge is a quiet location close enough to walk to the action. Staff is awesome. Wish they would have options for breakfast in the morning.

Historic charm

The lobby was charming, desk staff friendly and engaging, grounds beautiful and well kept. We stayed for 8 nights, spending every day hiking in RMNP and it was the perfect location. I enjoyed the outdoor spa every afternoon when we returned from hiking. The "smoking" deck was a lovely place to sit and read or enjoy a drink. Fortunately there was never anyone out there smoking so we could enjoy the clear mountain air. The apartment on the 3rd floor was small but clean, had everything we needed and on the edge of town so everything was walkable although it's a steep climb on the way home. A lovely place to stay. We would definitely recommend it to friends and stay there again.

We enjoyed the condo very much-- great access to the hot tub and restaurant although a bit noisy too because the restaurant is right above.

Lodge and staff were great however the lack of A/C required open windows above the main entrance

Some updates are needed

Beautiful historic lodge

Service is exceptional. Rooms and lobby comfortable. Had a great meal at the restaurant. Wonderful place to return to after exploring park or downtown. Easy walk along river walk to good restaurants and shopping. Really close to a great brewery (Rockcut brewery.)

Lovely historic hotel with friendly and helpful staff

Rooms were very small but we just needed a based to come back to end of day. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. It was hot and there was no air conditioning which made it difficult to sleep, but we realize that it's not usually that hot in Estes Park. A box fan was provided but the room was stuffy and air did not circulate well. The pool and hot tub were great and always available for the schedule we kept. The hotel was conveniently located, had a nice bar and deck with a view. It suited our purpose very well.

Nice Hotel Room

This was a great location for visiting Estes Park and RMNP. It was like staying in a nice hotel with a kitchenette, rather than staying in a condo but that worked out very well for us. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They even kept the restaurant open for us when we arrived, although there were no other customers. The food was excellent and about what you'd expect to pay in a hotel dining room with an incredible view. Although it retains its 100 year old atmosphere, it is also very modern inside the rooms. The lobby has a game room with pool table and a lovely fireplace. They even had s'mores makings for everyone one night. The bar was also open and off to the back so easy to get to but not dominating the scene. We could walk downtown but ended up driving. Only complaint would be that the lighting at the pool wasn't very good at night so we decided not to use the spa and pool. But it was clean and the water was the perfect temp in the pool They offered to give us some sort of sales talk, but after we said "no" we never even saw anything remotely related to what that would be for so it was not a problem at all. We would stay here again instead of staying in a hotel or motel in the city.

Very nice historic lodge. Great location for Estes Park and RMNP. No air conditioning was a problem in late July. It was in the early morning hours before our room cooled off enough to sleep well. Very pleasant staff and we felt like we had personal attention.
