The cabin is just a few miles from the town of Tomales and less than a mile from Highway 1 (Shoreline Highway), making it a great home base for exploring Marin or Sonoma Counties. Visitors love to go kayaking or hiking and enjoy the local wine, oysters, and cheese.

Lovely Hideaway
Perfect place to hang out an enjoy the beauty of the coast. The description describes the place perfectly. We enjoyed a lovely view of the coastal range dotted with sheep and cattle. The cabin was clean and cozy. After our walk around the beautiful grounds, we sampled local fare we had collected on our day excursion along the ocean including local fresh bread, cheese, crab and oysters. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay with scenic views, this is it.

Perfection of Marin County
My visiting sisters were enthralled with the beauty and tranquility of this location, and we took a late afternoon walk up to the hilltop with the gorgeous eucalyptus grove where 2 owls were calling and stayed while dusk settled. It's a lovely setting and the orientation of the cabin with lots of windows allows for viewing the verdant hills and the sunrise. We plan to use again!

Beautiful and peaceful
Beautiful place. The cabin slept 5 comfortably. There was not a microwave which was not a problem for us. We used the toaster oven and the two stove burners for what we needed. I was excited to take a bath in the clawfoot tub, but it was a little more rustic than expected. Spider webs and a few spiders, no tub stopper and water was restricted anyway so I opted out on that. Shower was perfectly adequate. I can't say enough about the charm and beauty of this place. The nights were cool and comfortable for our June stay. The views of birds, flowers and cattle were wonderful. We didn’t want to leave. I hope to return!

Peaceful stay near rural Tomales, CA
Used this visit as a reprieve between stays with family in Silicon Valley. The idyllic, serene location in the countryside was restorative. The hosts were hands off and respected our privacy, and we only came across them when they were maintaining the impressive perennial garden on the property. Cellular service (AT&T) and Wi-Fi were fine for us in spite of the listing’s warnings. Very picturesque with the misty mornings, gnarled cedars, and numerous hawks on the property. Recommended.

lovely is an understatement
To each their own, but this was my idea if "getting away from stress." The cabin was simple and beautiful, everything worked, and was clearly cared for. Bed was great, views even better. The Lisa and Oren communicated well, given they had plenty of ranch work to do, and guests should be just that, helpful and take care of themselves. Mahalo for a wonderful respite frim the press of modernity.

Truly restorative weekend
We live just an hour away, but craved a change of scene and were lucky to grab a last minute booking at the cabin. This beautiful location provides an immediate release from normal life - there are no nearby roads (so no traffic noise) and the views are just green hills and quietly grazing sheep / cows. We were lucky to arrive just as the springs flowers were starting to bloom and the lambs were still ridiculously cute. The cabin is very comfortable and clean and I recommend using the fold out bed - far comfier than most beds I’ve slept on in vacation rentals. There isn’t an oven but the outdoor grill and stove met all our needs for cooking meals. We purchased Stemple Creek rib eye steaks in Tomales (store next to the bakery/deli) and it was absolutely delicious. Lisa’s a great host and responds very quickly. Highly recommend

Simple - Natural - Picturesque
We loved our time at this property! The views of the rolling hills delighted the senses and mind; so pleasing and so peaceful. The cabin was clean and cozy, and the night air kept us nice & cool. We took great joy sitting on the porch and watching the lambs graze in the evenings. The common area offered another relaxing place to rest your mind. We were a 20 minute drive away from a sweet spot to launch our kayaks at Tomales Bay. The drive from the cabin to where we launched our boats was breathtaking. Our communication with Lisa was outstanding. We had a small glitch in our reservation and she was prompt to answer our questions. We left with fond memories and long to return again soon.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. It is located on a beautiful ranch perfect for exploring Marin. House is cozy, very clean, and quiet. Check-in was super easy and Lisa and Loren sent us some great recommendations for the area! We loved visiting the oyster farms along the way. Only wish we had more time. Cabin near Tomales
We spent one peaceful evening in the cabin on the ranch just north of Tomales. The trip was designed to celebrate a birthday for our son who was home from college and the recommendations for dinner and bakery were great. We had breakfast looking out over the pasture before heading into Sebastopol for the farmers market and wine tasting.

Beautiful
The stay was great, away from the city! Very charming, the rolling hills and free range animals where a great back drop It was raining off and on while we were there. It really looked like the English country side or Scotland with the sheep and scattered rock formations on the rolling hills.

Just what we needed!
The cabin was even more restful, clean, and calming than we hoped it would be. We came for the quiet and received that in the form of grasslands and sheep and birds’ nests and cows - all outside our spare spotless cabin. It was the peace of wild things plus.... really great WiFi. Not a cook’s kitchen though! Stay simple on the food and you’ll be fine.

Beautiful, Peaceful and Quiet
The cabin and the property were absolutely wonderful for a quiet get-away for my wife and I. The one thing making this a 4-star instead of a 5-star review is the kitchen area. Although it is small (which is not a problem) there was barely anything available for us to use to cook a simple meal. There are no kitchen knives, only one small pan that needs to be replaced, no drying rack, no salt/basic spices/cooking oils, few cooking utensils, no foil, etc. If those things were added to the cabin it would make the experience significantly better. If not, just let guests know that those are not provided. Again, the place is wonderful and I would return here in a heartbeat. I highly recommend it for a peaceful escape. Just be prepared to bring your own cooking supplies if you plan on making meals in the cabin.

Lovely getaway...great for our kids!
Our daughters really love the Little House on the Prairie books, so when they saw this place....they were in love. Everything was comfortable, even the pull-out sofa, and we really enjoyed watching the cattle and sheep grazing. We even saw an owl one evening by the porch. It was a sweet spot to slow down and enjoy the view.

idyllic west sonoma hideaway
if you've spent years driving around the green pastures of west marin and sonoma wishing you could just sit yourself down in one of the old ranch buildings and stay a while, here's your chance. this cabin is a perfect spot to escape and relax (but the wifi is very good too!) the porch and picture window look at rolling hills with sheep and cattle grazing. the dining table is perfect for playing family games. there is not much to do out here and that's a good thing. the clawfoot tub and other details are very rustically darling. lisa & loren have created an idyllic nest on their family ranch.

Great Weekend Getaway
We had a great time staying at Lisa and Loren's cabin. First of all, we were looking for a place to spend the weekend for my boyfriend's birthday, and our plans fell through last minute. I called Lisa last minute to see if I could book the night at her cabin, and she responded immediately and was very accommodating to our change in plans. We drove up late at night, and I was a little worried it would be hard to find the place, but she provided very clear directions and we had no problem at all. The place was clean, and well-maintained, and matched the listing. Overall, we had a great time and hope to be back soon.
