About this property

Pet and family friendly house in Crantock, near the beach and village centre

This family and pet friendly property sleeps 5 people in 3 bedrooms. (For guests with pets please note the house rules)

It is a lovely, modern, homely house, situated in a peaceful location in the village of Crantock. In a perfect position, set back from the road, guests can be reassured of a tranquil get away without even a car passing the window.

Crantock is a beautiful coastal village with lots to see and do within easy walking distance of the property, including the beautiful river Gannel and foot paths, the National Trust Beach (dog friendly) and coastal paths, a 400 year old thatched pub, the village store/post office, Cubert Common and a quaint village tea room.

This newly decorated property provides plenty of space – the separate living room is bright and airy with a bay window and two comfy sofas. The sunny kitchen/dining room is well equipped with all you need for your holiday, including a microwave, slow cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven and hob, washing machine and plenty of cooking essentials.

The kitchen/dining area leads out to the enclosed south facing patio which is equipped with 4 sun chairs/loungers – perfect for soaking up the sun in the peace and comfort of home! It is also a great safe space for children and toddlers (and pets!) to play freely, as it is fully enclosed and fully visible from the kitchen/dining room. A coal BBQ is supplied to help you enjoy the long summer Cornish evenings.

There is also a wood burner - perfect for guests staying in the winter months to enjoy some cosy evenings in after a day of walking the coastal paths or sightseeing. There is also a TV with free-view, BT sports and a DVD player. There is also unlimited Wifi, books, board games and DVDs.
Upstairs there is a master bedroom with lovely views over the countryside and Cubert Common, a double bed (with king size duvet) and wardrobe. There is also a twin bedroom with two single beds and a chest of drawers and a third single bedroom also with chest of drawers. There is a modern family bathroom with bath, over-bath high pressure power shower, WC and wash basin.

One well behaved pet is very welcome to stay, (no extra charge) however we kindly request that dogs are not left unattended in the property, whilst guests are out. A crate is provided (suitable for a dog up to 10Kg) if you do need to leave your dog unattended. Dogs are not permitted upstairs or on the sofa, beds or other furniture. All dog mess needs to be cleaned up by guests.

Guests staying in the cooler months can rest assured they will be warm and cosy as in addition to the log burner downstairs, all bedrooms have guest controlled electric radiators and the bathroom has a heater.

For laundry there is a washing machine, airer and clothes line, iron and ironing board.

There is plenty of parking on the road just 200ft away from the property.

Our Changeover day is on a Satruday. Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 10am.

Lovely house
Really enjoyed our stay. Everything you need. Only downside we felt was that there was 4 adults and one 11 year old and just one small wardrobe. Also needs bedside tables in double room instead of linen baskets. Lamp or standard lamp in living room. Had to keep bringing bedside lamp down so did not have to have main light on. Otherwise would stay there again. Perfect for walking, especially to the beach.

perfect base for seeing Cornwall
This was a perfect rental for a multigenerational family break with a dog with all the comforts of home. Maureen and her team provided excellent communication and a really high standard of cleanliness and all the touches to make it a perfect stay - so often frustrating to have dishwasher and washing machine but no products. There was everything, including a handy collection of herbs and spices. Plenty of places to grab food locally without having to get in the car and the same for being able to hike to the various beaches. Only minor thing could improve (to echo previous reviewer) would be a stairgate to keep dogs downstairs.

Great accommodation in perfect location
A fantastically appointed house in a wonderfully peaceful location. The property had everything we needed, including an incredibly comfortable bed! It was clean and spacious, and more than met our needs for our fortnight in Crantock. Very friendly neighbours too! We hope to return.

Family holiday
Just arrived back from a relaxing time on holiday. The property is very clean and had everything we needed. It is in a quite area but only a short walk to crantock beach and local pub, also took our dog with us and he enjoyed the walks available from the house. Would definitely rebook at a future date if we return to the area. Maureen phoned the day before to ensure we had the key code, great personal touch.

A lovely property in a great location.
A lovely property situated in a residential cul de sac a short walk from the centre of the village. The property was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Although the property does not have scenic views it does have access to parking, a courtyard garden and is close to the village and beach. I would highly recommend.

Excellent holiday base
A great house and location. Only negative was that the beds were very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on but hopefully that can be rectified. No external furniture in the yard to enjoy the sun.

What a lovely place
This property was probably the most cleanest and well cared for property we have stayed in. It was well equipped and had a great library of books which you can do a swap with. It was very dog friendly with a enclosed back garden. The only improvement for this property would be a gate at the bottom of the stairs to help prevent the dog going upstairs. It’s location was perfect, only a few minutes walk to the beach or center of the village. Will definitely be back.

Ideal Holiday Home in Crantock
Perfect accommodation in the tranquil village of Crantock. This mid terrace home is the perfect home from home. It's clean, modern with everything you need. Free WiFi, lovely log burner, (we didn't need to use), washing machine and dishwasher. South facing back garden to enjoy the afternoon sun when not touring around the beautiful coves, bays and towns of Cornwall which are all in easy reach. The pictures of the house don't do it justice in size, the rooms are big and roomy, we only needed the master bedroom, the bathroom is compact with a great shower. The house looks as though it's been freshly decorated too. Set in a quiet cul de sac/terrace and is extremely private. Parking was not an issue for us at anytime. 20 minute walk to Bowgie Inn in one direction, the village centre is 5/10 minute stroll with a Londis, and 2 pubs and a few tea rooms. Very friendly place. It's about a 20 minute to Crantock beach which is nice, family & dog friendly, you can drive to it and park & pay in national trust car park or cafe nearby. I would highly recommend booking this if you're looking for a place to get away from it all.

Nettes, kleines Ferienhaus mit guter Ausstattung.
Das Ferienhaus liegt ca. 10 min. Fussweg vom tollen Strand in Crantock entfernt. Vielen Dank.

A spacious, modern holiday cottage
A spacious, modern holiday cottage which is perfectly located for walks to the beach and village of Crantock. Property was clean and tidy. The owner's representative is extremely helpful and responded promptly to any queries. As noted in other reviews, there is no driveway or allocated parking but we did not experience any difficulty during our week's stay. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Lovely house for family & pets
Lovely house, really well equipped, fantastic location. We appreciated the tea & coffee left for our arrival! The bedrooms are really lovely. It would have been a 5 star stay were it not for the parking issues. One gentleman rudely told us to park somewhere else & someone left a "do not park outside our house" note on the car - despite the fact that we always parked on public roads if the little parking area was full & were careful not to block drives. I appreciate that you can do nothing about this, but it was a little upsetting.

About the host

We are Phil and Maureen James. We live in a Bedfordshire village but come to Crantock with our Jack Russell Cross, Gilbert, whenever possible. Phil's family originates from Cornwall and he spent all his childhood holidays playing with his cousins on the beach and surrounding countryside of Crantock. If you go into St Carantoc's church, you will see his father's name on the list of lads from the village that went off to the Second World War. He joined the Navy and it was on leave that he met Phil's mother, Mary, who had enlisted with the land army and had been posted from London to the farm at West Pentire which is now the site of the Bowgie. We often sit in the Bowgie and raise a glass to their memory. We feel very privileged to own a little part of Crantock and have put a lot of love and care into our home. We do hope you will enjoy it and make your own happy memories of Crantock

Why they chose this property

We love this property as it offers a peaceful and tranquil get away from it all, yet is in a great location for strolling down to the village centre or nipping to the beach with our dog Gilbert. We feel the property is comfortable with a lovely homely vibe.

Crantock is a very unique Cornish Village with so much to offer, it is diverse and varied and has a strong presence of local activities including the Bale Pushing Competition in September which raises large sums of money for local charities. In addition to the village life, the scenery in Crantock is absolutely stunning.
