Bay Cove Cottage A is one side of a rustic 1940s cottage duplex. Cottage A is closest to the highway, so there is road noise. It is a clean and cozy, brightly colored, 550 sq ft apartment with one bedroom and a fold-out couch in the living room. The kitchen and bathroom with shower are simple, and retain original vintage character. There is no stove or oven, but a microwave, skillet, a portable single burner rangette, for preparation of simple meals, and a refrigerator are provided in the kitchen. The vintage bathroom is small, with no tub and the shower has a small entry (16 inches wide). We are offering the cottages as the budget option of Bay Cove properties and offer few amenities. Cable TV is provided, wifi is available throughout, there is a full-sized refrigerator with ice maker, and a coin-operated laundry service in a separate room in the duplex. Cottage A is the side of the duplex next to Cape Arago Hwy, and has more road noise than Cottage B. There is no bay view from the apartment, but a small backyard and a small patio available for a spectacular view of the bay and Charleston harbor. A laundry room with tall table and chairs offers great bay views while enjoying coffee or a glass of wine, when the weather is not suitable for patio use. The owner's residence is nearby, on the same lot as the cottages, and may also be rented. We can direct you to easy bayshore access that requires a 500 foot walk along Cape Arago Hwy., or other easy bay access for clamming or crabbing within short driving distances.

Very Nice cottage for a long weekend. We played golf at Bandon during our stay so we didn’t utilize the cottage much. Very good restaurant called Millers in town to eat. Overall good stay
This is the second year I have stayed here and it was every bit as delightful as last time. The hosts are very accommodating and friendly, the cottage is very clean and comfortable. It was a wonderful place to unwind and rejuvenate! I will definitely be back
This was our second time staying at the cottage. It’s cozy and welcoming with everything we need. Candy and John are great hosts! The location is perfect for yummy seafood and Shore Acres State Park. We’ll be back next year for holiday lights!
Cute cottage, a little bigger than I expected. Nice view. It's to bad the city doesn't allow guests to use the hot tub. Unexpected refrigerator in the unit a big plus. John (property manager), is very nice and helpful. The availability of a crab pot cooker is wonderful. The cottage was very clean (just one unwelcome big spider, my husband took care of). The road by the unit is busy and noisy. The best part they use unscented laundry detergent/dryer sheets for all bedding materials!!! Highly recommend staying here and we will be back. Thank you.
I was greeted in the morning at the local ocean park by a mother deer and 2 fawns who graciously allowed me to watch & take pictures. I spent the day wandering around the area and looking for various ocean views and beaches to enjoy - ended the day by watching a mother whale and her young one swimming out in the Pacific. Then I came back to the cottage and enjoyed a good night's sleep. Great way to spend my 70th birthday!!!
Pictures are accurate (really). Very clean with comfortable furniture and larger, well-stocked kitchen (really). Space to move around. Liked the hardwood floors. Great for a vacation get away or a business stay. I had Unit A which did not have a direct water view and was close to the road so there was some traffic noise. But doable. Other units would be preferable if available.
Restaurants around and short jump to town.
Don't forget to ask about George!
I had an amazing experience while in Coos Bay and part of it was because of my accommodations. The price was very reasonable, the rental unit totally exceeded my expectations and the hosts were the most friendly and gracious hosts I've met. I usually go to Coos Bay once a year for a get-together with fellow swimmers, so I will definitely be visiting here again! Thank you John and Candy
The property was well kept with nice details. There was a well stocked kitchen, yoga mats, rain jackets, and shampoo/conditioner. The walls were colorful and the bed was comfy. It was the perfect location to go to the state parks, Coos Bay, and North Bend.
I was in the Coos Bay/Bandon area for a golf tournament and Bandon Resort was unavailable (although I always look for VRBOs first anyway). Cottage A was exactly as described and John and Candy are phenomenal hosts. Everything one could need is either in the cottage or in the common room 50 feet away. I hope to visit Bandon Dunes every couple of years and will definitely look at Cottage A as my first option if it is available.
Charming little beach Cottage. We absolutely loved this place. It was clean and had everything you could possibly need. We loved the view from the backyard, of the bay in Charleston.
We so enjoyed this cottage overlooking the Charleston harbor. It was very clean and decorated, a nice living room to relax in. The owners were very gracious and we will definitely return.
Property as advertised. Enjoyed our visit. No unpleasant surprises

About the host
Hosted by John and Candy Chatt
We are a retired couple, John a federal wildlife biologist, Candy a swim coach and airline employee, and both former Nebraska farmers. We consider ourselves adventurous, spontaneous, budget travelers and love meeting new people to share travel experiences.
Why they chose this property
We have lived in the immediate area since moving to Coos Bay from Corvallis in 1999. We recently moved into a home that we thought would be a perfect place to share with others in beautiful Charleston, on the southern coast of Oregon. We enjoy outdoor activities, birdwatching, hiking, kayaking and just observing the wonders of nature.
What makes this property unique
We felt fortunate to happen across this wonderful part of our country, the best overall climate we have ever encountered, fresh air, and plenty of room to wander to our heart's content, without the hustle and bustle found in so many other places. We love the diversity of habitats in the area and the associated diversity of bird species that are regularly seen. The views and solitude of walking on a private beach provide a never ending source of enjoyment and relaxation. We felt even more fortunate to have the opportunity to acquire additional similar property within 500 feet of our home. We always considered this property as having great potential as a vacation rental, and now we are trying to make that dream come true.
