Perfection in Ireland
We were expecting the unrivaled scenery of Ireland. But to be able explore from a cozy remodeled police station was icing on the cake. Every room was clean and well stocked right down to the wood and coal for the fireplace. The hostess was warm and so helpful. We felt like we had known her forever. I will be recommending this property to family and especially to business clients that need a chance to decompress. THANK YOU SHIELA AND VRBO.

Beautiful location, wonderful host and a comfortable stay.
Sheila is extremely nice and helpful. Easkey is a tiny town that has no formal restaurant, but there is a wonderful convenience store, great takeaway (Pizza Pan) and a bar, not to mention a fabulous pottery studio (Rosie's Pottery). We had a wonderful week in Easkey. The bedroom is upstairs, and there is a half bath up there (tiny sink), handy if you need to get up in the middle of the night. The main bathroom is downstairs and is very nice, the electric shower worked well. Make sure you ask how to turn the hot water on. We never figured out the heating system but didn't need to as it was lovely and warm. The kitchen is very tiny with no dishwasher and very little countertop, so don't plan on cooking a big meal. It is handy for small meals. This apartment works out well for a couple. It is a beautiful area and there is a nice walk from the apartment to the tower by the ocean - which also has picnic tables and a public bathroom. We picnicked there several times. Sheila is very sweet and helpful, and we truly enjoyed our stay.

Taking it easy in Easkey
Comfortable place to stay while exploring the counties of Silgo and Mayo. Slept like a queen in the wonderful bed, room overlooking a peaceful pasture and rolling landscape. Efficient little kitchen and large living room with a stove (pellet) to take the chill out of the cool spring nights. Host Sheila picked me up at the train station and was a wealth of information about the area. Wished I'd lingered longer.....

Our Visit
Well maintained, well appointed and spacious but as foreigners we had difficulty figuring out how to use some of the appliances. Having the wood stove was comforting and a big plus.

Lovely old time charm
Lovely apartment, styled in keeping with the age of the building. Lovely fresh new bathroom/ensuite. Very well equipped kitchen and we managed no problem at all to cook a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Loved the stove and had it lit most of the time as we visited and stayed at the end of December. Great base to explore the local area. Sheila was very helpful and messaged us regularly including wishing us a Merry Christmas on the day. Loved it!

A nice and comfortable apartment
We were delighted when we arrived and Sheila welcomed us at 'The Old Police Station'. A very spacious apartment, certainly for 2 people. The living room is cozy and comfortably furnished with a wood burning stove. The kitchen is simple but fine. And then the fairytale-like bedroom!!! All according to the picture. We slept wonderfully! There is also a beautiful spacious bathroom. Not to suggest that it used to be a cell for the prisoners :) In short, a lovely apartment! The washing machine was still not connected but we could wash in a campsite next to it. In Easky was not much to experience. Two limited food stores, pubs (but no Irish music), no restaurants but a nice lunch possibility and a sort off Kebab/Pizza/Snack bar. Perhaps because we stayed in Easky early in the season. A nice place is the community center which also serves as tourist information. You can also hire good bikes for a reasonable price. But .... the immediate area of Easky is truly beautiful! Not far from the apartment you can walk to the beach via the beautiful Easky River. From there you can make stunning walks along the shore, or directly through the rocky sandy beach, or by a road that runs alongside. Also without car there are many possibilities to explore the area. By foot, by bike or partly by bus and walking from there. We greatly enjoyed the beautiful nature! We highly recommend Easky as well as 'The Old Police Station', especially to sporty, quait looking nature lovers. And Sheila is a hospitable woman who does everything to make you feel comfortable. She is always available for questions and offers great servicice! Gonnie and Wim (60 +++) from the Netherlands.

Great Stay at the Old Police Station, Easkey
This property has been restored beautifully. It is so comfortable and I was able to put on a lovely fire each evening. The property has everything you could possibly need for a lovely, cosy break.

Not as advertised. DISAPPOINTING
Very disappointed was expecting so much more, this property is of a lower standard than advertised, bathroom kitchen and ensuite are of a decent standard, but the rest leaves a lot to be desired, old musty smell throughout, old broken furniture in living room and bedroom which is not fit for purpose, no washing machine/dryer as advertised, this property is advertised as pet friendly, yes the owner allows dogs but the property is not pet secure which we were lead to believe it was, you could not let a child play out in the courtyard/bit of unkept waste ground, it is a total hazard. Am not sure if this property is a work in progress or the owner has decided not to do anymore work to bring it up to an acceptable standard of a property that is advertised as beautiful and luxurious as there is a for sale sigh up on one of the windows, either way this property advertisment is totally misleading and is way over priced, I feel totally mislead and cheeted out of my hard earned cash. I did speak to the owner about concerns the night we arrived her reply was (Nothing she could do about it now) I have not heard from her since.

Well presented, inviting
Met by Shelia and Dermot, great communication beforehand and during stay. The house was lovely, home from home. A welcoming fire burning in the log burner for our arrival :-) Easky was relaxing with a great traditional music night in the local. Should we be in the vicinity again I would be looking to rebook, though maybe next time we will stay in one of Shelias other properties and discover the delights there. Thanks for a great stay, good luck with the rest of the house conversion.

We are a family of 4, living on a busy farm in Sligo.
We have been happily involved in the Self Catering business since 2006 with our very popular Beach House in Aughris.
In 2012 we bought and renovated another property The Snug in Dunkineely, South Donegal, for our own use and also as a Holiday Let.
We are adding to our Holiday Home Portfolio, as we continue to source and renovate good properties in great locations on the Wild Atlantic Way.
From our years in business we know that our guests want luxurious accommodation in a special unforgettable location.

Why they chose this property

We have been admiring this property for years and saddened by its neglect whilst at the same time seeing the ever-increasing popularity of Easkey as a Holiday Destination.

What makes this property unique

This is truely a fine building, built c1900, burnt down during War and rebuilt in 1930s. It has a fabulous structure with large rooms, high ceilings, lots of open spaces. It is a protected building and documented as "This Arts and Crafts Movement influenced Garda Station, at the edge of Easky, contrasts markedly with the typical architecture of the town with its hipped roofs, multiple chimneystacks and sprocketed eaves. The retention of original sash windows to the sides and rear is particularly pleasing"

For holiday makers it offers a different type of accommodation, for example the bathroom was the former cell, the only evidence now being the heavy door with it's spy-hole (Now covered over!)
