Vacanze in Valle d'Itria

Antica Lamia Bellavista—Great Place in a Great Town
I spent 3 nights here in September, 2019 with a good friend who is a frequent travel companion. We are women aged 70 and 68. This is the nicest VRBO property I have ever been in. It is accurately represented on the web site which in my experience is a rarity. Giancarlo, the owner is terrific. He met us at the property and gave us a thorough introduction to it. The functional galley kitchen was thoughtfully provisioned with a selection of staples including coffee, milk water, butter, dishwashing liquid, napkins, plastic wrap, paper towels etc.— all the things you are used to having at your disposal but are surprisingly absent in many of the properties I have rented. The accommodations are lovely. Two bedrooms with comfortable beds, closets, dressers and bedside tables and, most importantly, each one with a door! The door was not a standard provision in the other three VRBO places we stayed on this trip. There was one bathroom that was large, modern and had two sinks and a shower as well as two hairdryers and shampoo, soap, lotion etc. Best of all the entrance was in the hallway, not from inside one of the bedrooms. There was a nice living area with sofa, TV, and a dining table that seated 4-6 people. Also included was a large selection of brochures on sites and activities in the area. Parking for our car was available at the property. This was a big plus over the other 3 places we stayed. This place is aptly named as the view from the property was spectacular. We looked directly up hill at the lovely white hill town of Locotorondo. Town was within walking distance if you don't mind uphill climbs. Giancarlo carefully explained the route to town and parking if we drove. The property was ideally situated for exploring the lovely Val d'atria. We made day trips to Alberobello, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Nonopoli, Polignano a Mare, Ceglie Messapica, each of which were interesting and different from one another. Both my friend and I highly recommend staying at Antica Lamia Bellavista. It is clearly a place where the owner is truly interested in assuring clients feel welcomed and enjoy their stay. We would return without hesitation. Carol Whiteley, San Carlos, California, USA

Two lovely weeks at Lamia Antica Bellavista
We very much enjoyed our stay. The property was exactly as advertised, a traditional building, sensitively restored and furnished. The location was excellent for touring the attractive towns and villages nearby, as well as for spending enjoyable evenings in the restaurants and bars in Locorotondo. Giancarlo was so friendly and helpful - thank you

Nice house in a great location
The house is a comfortable modernization of an ancient house. What really shines is the location just below the historic center of Locorotondo. It’s an easy walk into town for a meal but you are on a country lane that can lead to a walk through the countryside or a quick drive to the neighboring town. Being outside of town you have parking at the house. Locorotondo is in the middle of the Valle d’istria so it is a central location for access to the whole valley. We stayed here for 8 days and found it very comfortable. The washing machine is very handy for longer stays and clothes dry quickly on the outside rack even in April. The house was provide with maps and guides to the surrounding towns and we especially enjoyed the walking and biking and trail maps.

A Trulli with a view
This house has been renovated beautifully with a nice kitchen and bathroom but could use some better interior decoration. We stayed in the winter time and it was cold, made to feel even colder by the fact that there were no carpets on the floor, not a throw on the couch or pillows, nothing to soften the stone feeling which is probably welcome in the summer. We couldn’t use the outside due to the weather which is one of the best features of the house as the view of the town of Locorotondo is superb. Our host was lovely and equipped our kitchen with a basket of local specialties that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Perfect location for enjoying Locorotondo
After a couple of days in beautiful but busy Lecce, Locorotondo was the perfect contrast. Particularly staying at Antica Lamia Bellavista, which is set in lovely countryside and with stunning views to the town. There are really nice countryside walks from the door and an enjoyable walk into town. We loved the house, which was perfect both inside and out. Really well equipped and with a choice of sitting/eating areas outside. The owner Giancarlo is very friendly and has created a lovely location to enjoy and relax in. Highly recommended.

The property was beautifully appointed and in a beautiful location - quiet but close to Locorotondo
This was a most enjoyable holiday in a beautiful part of Italy. Locorotondo is a very good base from which to explore the coastline and interior of Puglia. The house has been lovingly restored and seems to retain many of the characteristics of local traditional architecture combined with modern facilities. It was great to be able to walk to the village of Locorotondo and enjoy dinner there in the evening after a day's touring/swimming. There is so much to see in Puglia: for us, highlights - with apologies for misspelling - included Alberobello, Santo Cesarea di Terme, Capitulo beach, Otranto, Ostuni, the drive to Santa Maria de Leuca, visitng the ceramics at Grottaglie and everything else in between.. The people we met were uniformly friendly - despite the season being in hectic full-flow - and GianCarlo was a very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly host. Overall, not even the 3-hour snarl up in the traffic on the autostrada on the way back north dimmed the enjoyment of a marvellous but all too short holiday.

Lovely stay
We stayed with 4 persons in the cottage, 2 adults and 2 young children (5-7). We had a lovely stay, the house was perfect for us. It is good central situated in the region to go to all the nice towns (ostuni, martina franca, alberobello, lecce, ceglie messipica and beach torre pozzelle). The kids loved it very much and for us it was a nice place to relax. The view during the day and in the evening of Locorotondo is beautifull. The owner Giancarlo is very helpfull and friendly, speaks good english. We can recommend this house to everybody.

Wonderful! We would always come back
We stayed at the house in May with two small children. It was a wonderful time and we would always come back. The house is very well maintained and well equipped, including very comfortable beds, a washing machine, all necessary kitchen equipment, even some toys for small children and loads of information material on the region. Giancarlo is a very friendly host. He was always approachable, could help with all kinds of questions and even welcomed us with a bowl of freshly picked cherries. We loved sitting in the garden, sipping a glass of wine and enjoying the view on Locorotondo. The city is just a 10-minutes walk away. We preferred it over other towns in the valley because it is less crowded (at least it was in May) but has all you need: nice restaurants, yummy ice cream places, a playground and a supermarket.

Grazie mille Giancarlo!

Lovely stay!
Just returned from a month stay at this lovely trullo in the Itria Valley looking outward to the beautiful village of Locorotondo. The trullo has been well renovated retaining both its old charm and adding modern features - new kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. It’s location is perfect - outside of the town but yet only a 12-15 minute walk into Locorotondo where one finds an abundance of very good restaurants, deli shops and other shopping. Also well situated within the Itria Valley to visit many other inland and seaside towns and villages(35-40 minute drives) within Puglia. The host, Giancarlo was very attentive and prompt with all requests and/or inquiries and can communicate in English if required. If you’re planning a visit to Puglia, consider staying at this location in Locorotondo. After travelling throughout Puglia for the month, we never doubted that we picked the perfect place for our stay in this lovely region of Italy.

Charming old property with stunning views over Locorotondo
We were very impressed with the property. An old renovated farmhouse with modern extension set near Locorotondo with wonderful view over the town. The property met all our expectations - it was attractively and comprehensively fitted out with everything you need for a family holiday. The kitchen was well equipped and Giancarlo had provided the first breakfast, all pantry necessities and detergents etc. Giancarlo himself was a wonderful host, prompt, friendly and going out of his way to make sure we had all we needed and learnt about things going on in the town. Highly recommended.

Do not miss this!
What a charming property and host. We loved this area of Italy and the view from this property is a real showstopper. There's a great little deck out front where you can enjoy some regional vino and just feel really lucky to be there. Comfortable, newly renovated and well appointed property. This is a trullo, but the domes are only visible on the inside, so you will get the experience of staying in a trullo if that is something you want (I did). It is situated in a peaceful vineyard and orchard. Just perfect. It's a very short distance into Locorotando (a few minutes) and it is lovely to walk around, but you really get to see the town from this vantage point in a way you couldn't if you stayed right in the town itself, so I felt we got the best of both worlds being able to see it both ways. Locorotando is the prettiest town from a distance of all the places we visited while staying here, and we drove around a lot. Easy access to other places you may want to explore. I am an interior designer and I noticed many really thoughtful details in how the home is renovated. We later learned the owner is an architect and I think it shows in what he has done here. Very amiable and happy to help you with anything you need. We were one of the first parties to stay in this home and there weren't any reviews yet, so we took a small risk, but so glad we did. This is a real gem. Pictures do not do it justice, even nicer in person. Do yourself a favour and book this home for your time in Puglia.

Tolles Haus in wundervoller Landschaft
