About this property

Forest Valley Retreat Hudson

Just 65 miles from New York City, a cozy, artful three-bedroom home on five acres along a babbling brook. Only minutes away from Storm King Arts Center, Woodbury Commons, Black Rock Forest Preserve and Blooming Hill Farm.

With floor to ceiling windows looking out in to the woods from the living room, there's a sense of being right in the middle of nature from morning to sunset.

Pets welcome. The house, decorated with contemporary art and family antiques, has WIFI that runs 25 mbps. It works for emailing, zooming and streaming movies, etc, but it is not high speed.

House rules are pretty simple: no smoking, no parties or gatherings, no guests that weren't disclosed at the time of booking, no hunting. Check in is 4PM. Check out is 11AM.

The house has three bedrooms---two have a queen size bed, and one has a trundle bed with two twins. We also have a pack n play. There are two large living rooms---one upstairs by the fire, and one downstairs, with a lounge area and work desk.

There are chairs by the creek for creek watching. Deer, birds and squirrels roam.

Several hundred books live here across many genres including fiction, nonfiction, poetry and essays. There's also a basket of old magazines.

A child-friendly house, we have children's books and toys, and high chairs.

For guests I leave the house open with keys on the kitchen table and am available by phone any time to answer questions.

Perfect spot get away in the Hudson Valley
We had a great multi-month stay. Our host was responsive when needed and let us enjoy our stay in their rustic house in the woods. The property is on a beautiful natural wooded hill with a creek nearby that is full of wildlife. The house is well stocked with most everything we needed and is located 10 min from most services you should need and 30 min from Beacon. We stayed during the winter and needed our AWD vehicle for winter driveway conditions. The satellite Wi-Fi is adequate for most uses. The water does have a sulfur smell which is common in upstate NY.

Secluded & comfortable
Had everything we needed for a last minute getaway. Plenty of space, kitchen stocked with the basics, nice & quiet location, great & quick communication with the owner. Our dog loved running around in the woods!

Beautiful and relaxed place
We rented the house because it was near to Storm King. Both the house and the park were very special places. We loved the architecture of the house, its views and the friendly info from Lizzi

Great house!
Our family had a lovely weekend at the cool house in the woods! We really enjoyed our time at the house and recommend it for a relaxing getaway! A TV would have been nice but we had our laptop so we could stay in touch. Fireplace is amazing! Owner was very responsive.

A Great Experience
My wife and I stayed here with three of our friends in December. We had a great time enjoying the peaceful setting and the comfortable home. We especially liked making a fire on cold nights. Lizzie was great and made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful time. We are looking forward to our next stay at this location.

Nice accommodations.
We will definitely book this place again. It is out in the woods but still close to a lot of attractions. Everything worked as it should and the owner is available by email for any questions. Easy check-in and check-out. The wood stove is nice and plenty of dry wood is provided. We saw deer on every trip in and out of the property. The space is clean. A great place to use to get away from everything.

A nice, comfortable and relaxing stay for a great price.
We were very pleased with our stay here. Having 3 bedrooms and 2 baths worked out great for our family. Everything was clean, and the owner was very pleasant and accommodating. It was so much nicer than being in a hotel, because we had a place that we could all relax in together in the evenings, and cook our own meals if we wanted. It's definitely off the beaten path, but fairly close to a lot of things. We were happy to have found this place for our stay.

lovely getaway
Lizzie's house was perfect for our quick getaway weekend! My friends and I had rented her house as we were attending a nearby wedding at Brotherhood winery. The house comfortably slept all 6 of us and was just what we needed! She was very helpful and accommodating about answering all my questions before and after our stay. And was so kind and willing to help mail some items we had left behind. The house is tucked away in a lovely nest of nature and had gorgeous views! Thanks Lizzie for opening your home to us all!

Lovely wooded retreat
This was a very nice home. It had everything that you would need for a relaxing weekend away. Very cozy with a wood burning fireplace. It was very child friendly with toys and a door at the top of the stairs to the basement. However, No visitors are allowed in the house. It would have been good to know this prior to booking and you may see the owner.

weekend get away
We rented Lizzies house for a weekend getaway with our daughter who is a cadet at West Point. The house was very nice. Secluded but yet close to restaurants and a little shopping. The living room - kitchen great room was very nice. The downstairs family room came in handy for a few cozy nights of movies. The bathrooms are brand new and the sheets are very soft. If you stay here be sure to visit the storm king art center. It is a 500 acre sculpture park. So worth seeing. Thank you Lizzie for a nice weekend
