Wonderful House with great views

We are a family of 6 adults and 3 boys and loved the set up of the house because everyone had their space. The deck is a wonderful place to just sit and enjoy the view of Lake Tahoe. The kitchen has just about everything you would need to cook anything. We enjoyed hiking, going to Speedboat beach, playing games and reading books. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect house for a large family

Booked the house for my extended family to stay for the weekend. The layout of the house and the size of the family room and kitchen was perfect. The house was well stocked with everything we needed from the kitchen and making big meals to towels and bedding. Kim was fantastic to work with and was always quick to respond to any questions. Savings the best for last, the views are awesome!!!! Sitting on the deck in the morning with coffee or in the evening with an adult beverage was beautiful and peaceful. Thank you!!!!

Excellent home for multiple families with a spectacular view

The home is a bit older (as you can tell from the photos) but has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen was really large and well stocked from gadgets to seasonings. We had a lot of kids with us so it was nice to have little plastic kid's chairs and even kid-safe bowls and cups. The layout of the house is perfect for multiple families. One master upstairs and the 4 bedrooms downstairs are divided so there are 2 on each side of the stairs. It was great to be able to park in the garage and having a key code made it very simple to come and go. We were a little disappointed that there was no TV upstairs outside of the master bedroom and the rooms could benefit from a deep cleaning (dust and cobwebs in corners) but overall a great vacation! We had a few issues with older appliances but the owner was extremely responsive and a pleasure to work with. The house is also in a great location with everything you need close by including a neighborhood spot to sled.

Great house!

We stayed here August 2021 with family from Florida. The house was perfect for us, large kitchen, living area, bedrooms downstairs. The deck view was beautiful unfortunately the large South Tahoe fire had just started and it was terribly smokey. The host was very accommodating, warning us of the smoke. We were looking forward to the getaway so we went anyway. On top of that we had a family emergency and ended up leaving a day early. We would definitely come back to enjoy this home in the summer months.

Our stay at the Crystal Bay home was a beautiful & memorable family adventure.

The accommodation were perfect with all our needs met. We had a multi generational family of ten. All had comfortable beds plus the hours spent at the scenic dinning table & deck made for excellent family bonding. Our host Kim was exceptional in helping us. We hope to return someday.

Christmas getaway

Absolutely loved this place! The view is spectacular and it is a perfect place for a family to gather. The owner couldn’t have been more accommodating and as others have said- the kitchen has everything you need. Because of covid, we cooked all our own meals so It really felt a lot like home. There are toys and games for littles as well as plastic plates and cups. There were 10 of us and we never felt on top of each other. The location is great too- 10 minutes to kings beach, 12 minutes to Diamond Peak ski area, 20-25 minutes to Mt Rose and North Star... so if you’re skiing, you’re close to several ski resorts. Just up the hill is a gorgeous hike with another panoramic view of the lake. We hope to come back sometime!

LOVE LOVE LOVED!!!

Everything you need for a vacation and a home away from home for a few days. It was very clean, very spacious and the view is so beautiful from the deck especially in the morning. The pics don’t do this home justice at all. We cooked all our meals there for our weekend stay and Kim has everything from spices, cookwares to serving dishes. I loved everything about this house and my kids wishes we stayed a lot longer. King’s Beach is just a 5 minute drive and Safeway is less than 10mins for our groceries.

We’ll Be Back

We had such a lovely stay! Kim was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. We absolutely loved the gorgeous views of the lake. The house was very well stocked, plenty of linens, every utensil you would need in the kitchen to make great meals, full cabinet of spices, etc. This was a nice surprise -due to the pandemic we found ourselves more comfortable preparing meals at the house than having to sit at two tables in restaurants, as they only allowed six people per table and we had a party of seven. Highly recommend this place for groups, couples and families.

Huge well-stocked place with amazing lake views!

As the description and other reviewers have said, the first thing we noticed was the AMAZING view of the lake from what seems like "your own secluded woods." My husband and I celebrated his 40th birthday here with a few friends, and we all talked about how we'd love to do it again with more people (since there's so much space including: multiple decks and living rooms). The kitchen has every gadget, tool, platter, etc. that you'd need to host any event with style - it was a little overwhelming putting the dishes away, but there are labels on every drawer to help. The place was clean and nice and everyone had what they needed. We sat out on the decks in the mornings, took a short ride to the beach each day, and grilled/cooked a huge meal each night. With a fully stocked kitchen, extra beach towels, and even games Kim has thought of everything and this place is ready for your vacation. Bring a group and plan to spend a good amount of time enjoying this wonderful house. We'll definitely be back!

Lovely Vacation Home

Once again we have had a wonderful week at this lovely Lake Tahoe home. The views from this house are outstanding. We were three families (parents, children, grandchildren) ranging in age from 18 - 92 yrs old. There was lots of space and bathrooms for all of us. The kitchen is huge with plenty of room for all of us to be in there helping with the meals. Completely appreciate all the kitchen pots and utensils available for our use. When we arrived, there was a lovely pot of flowers on the table to great us. We really appreciated that thoughtful gesture. Parent's health willing, we hope to come back again next summer.

Great property

The picture with this listing does not do the view justice; it is absolutely stunning. The house is equally as nice and designed for privacy as well as great conversations. I’ve also never rented a place that was so well stocked. If we needed a particular pot or utensil, it was there—literally! Thank you, Kim, for sharing with us. We had a great time! If we come back to Tahoe, we would rent this again in a heartbeat!

Memorable

Our Memorial Day weekend was indeed memorable. It snowed! The view, which of itself is lovely, was made more spectacular with the snow making it like a winter wonderland . The house is commodious and well stocked . We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The only little ‘complaint ‘ was that the coffee pot had to be cleaned for it had a ugly layer of green slime in it.

Great time with the family

Ideal location to both relax and have kids running around. The house is large enough to compartmentalize different families and needs. Really enjoyed being here and the view of Crystal Bay is fantastic. Great proximity to both King's Beach and Incline Village without being in the middle of either. The scenery is always changing. Highly recommend.

Family Vacation

Once again we enjoyed this beautiful house with a spectacular view! Our extended family of three generations all comfortably stayed in this lovely house with plenty of space for each family. The kitchen is huge as is the dining area and living room. With 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, we all had our own space when needed. The view is what we all loved. With two large decks and one smaller deck, there was plenty of space to sit outside and just relax with the lake in front of us. We hope to come back here again.

Lovely well appointed home with full lake view from deck!

Wow! Upon entering the living room from driveway my friends exclaimed, "look at that view!" The upstairs deck runs all across the back of the house and captures a good portion of northern Lake Tahoe. We spent a lot of time on that deck. Being six women all interested in good food, we spent the next amount of time in the kitchen and around a large dining table with very comfortable chairs. Having brought our own food, we were delighted to find every appliance, utensil, flatware, dish, glass, mug, etc that anyone could want. And the kitchen is large enough for several people to be in there at once. The bedrooms were roomy and nicely made up. Two bathrooms downstairs and one upstairs off master bedroom were plenty for six gals. Downstairs deck nice touch also. I just turned on the TV briefly (in a downstairs sitting room) so think the cable is good although we were too busy talking to watch TV. The wifi is excellent. Working with Kim, the owner, was so easy and helpful. No problems whatsoever. We were there for a performance at Sand Harbor which turned out to be about a 20 minute easy drive from the house. Our only surprise (not related to VRBO) was the beach Kim told us about (Speedboat Beach) nearby. When we arrived we found NO sand and locals said it was due to snowmelt that the lake had risen so high. We parked our things on the nearby rocks and had a great swim anyway. There's a wooden staircase down to the tiny spit of sand before you get in the lake and lots of rocks to sit on once in the lake! All in all, a wonderful getaway and I'm sure we'll be back.

July 4, 2018 Family Vacation

Our party of 6 adults and 4 kids found that the Crystal Bay house more than met our needs. The house is very well equipped. The view from the deck was fantastic. The fireworks were launched from a barge anchored off Incline Village and clearly visible from the house. We enjoyed the hike to the old fire watch tower location, a daysail on a catamaran and rafting on the Truckee River. The area was very busy due to the holiday, but when a plan was foiled due to a parking lot being full, we found alternatives that were even better.

Gorgeous views, perfect layout....Just needed more snow (not the owners fault !!)

We really liked this cabin; we were a few families with teens who are soon to go away for college and needed to make memories. ....and Mt. Rose was nice and close....and we went to the resort for 2 days, but hanging out at the cabin, cooking together, doing puzzles and playing games was just what we needed. Of course the view was stunning and that was the icing on the cake. We did the fire trail hike which was close to the cabin (walking distance) and Spooner Lake which was beautiful....The kitchen was incredibly well stocked (and the owner was lovely when I asked b4 we got there if there was a pot for Chili, she went out and bought one for us.)

Amazing View!!!

Wow pictures do not do justice for how beautiful the view was. Nothing beats watching the sunrise over the lake right infront of our balcony! We really enjoy the spacious cabin and the full-stock kitchen. The garage also has lots of equipments for different types of activities on the lake such as inflatable boat, sled, sand toys, bikes, etc. Will definitely be back in the winter for the breathtaking views.

About the host

Hosted by Kim Kotnik

Host profile image
My parents are originally from Ohio and they raised their children in San Diego, CA where they worked in public education (math professor and high school administrator). They spent years looking for a lake-view Tahoe property where they could build a family vacation house to enjoy with their 4 kids. My Mom worked closely with the builder to design a functional, practical and memorable family space. The professionals told us that the kitchen was 'too big, but we knew that a vacation home where 10+ people can cook, eat and drink together in the kitchen with everyone doing their little (or big) job would be great. We love the outdoors. My Mom hiked the entire 156-mile Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) when she was 70 years old. The kids are now in their 40s with kids of their own. The house will be renting for the first time in 2015, hopefully to 'friends and family' including some new friends we make in the process of welcoming you to Lake Tahoe!

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because of the views, proximity to all the natural wonders of Lake Tahoe's North Shore, and the ability to design and build a spacious, family-friendly house.

What makes this property unique

Lake Tahoe is unique for a million reasons -- probably why you are considering it for your vacation. As a new vacation home listing, our family and local manager will do everything possible to make sure you love your stay and want to come back regularly. If there's something we have that would make your stay better, let us know and we'll work out the details.
