Homley Cottage in pretty Devon village, great location for walks & birdwatching!
Jacketts is an old cob farmhouse in a fantastic location on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Otterton that lies between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. Now divided into two cottages Jacketts 2 makes a deceptively spacious and well appointed home away from home. It has a delightful Conservatory, ideal for those lazy breakfasts while the combined sitting/dinning has an Inglenook with modern gas log burner to warm any chilly nights. There is a brand new kitchen with an induction cooktop & electric oven. The freezer is a good size so you can stock up with locally delivered “Cook” meals if you want a rest from cooking. Clearing up is made easy with the dishwasher. Upstairs the double bedroom has a lovely antique solid oak bed originally from Fineshade Abby and a modern semi ensuite shower room. The twin bedroom has its own charm with more antique furniture. For a candle lit bath or the practicality of bathing the children the bonus of a downstairs bathroom gives that added flexibility. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the East Devon coast with fantastic local walks along the cliffs and nearby river while for the children there is everything from sandy beaches to adventure parks. Cyclists & birdwatchers will love the countryside surrounding this delightful Cottage. This is picture postcard country and the ideal holiday home!
Eating out: The nearest place to eat out is just a few hundred yards away at Otterton Mill. This a working mill where you can see the grain being milled before buying the freshly baked bread or other local delights. The mill has an excellent licenced restaurant for lunch or afternoon tea, as well as a gallery and gift shop where the hidden talent of some of our local artists can be seen. The local pub is also very good but in the next village of East Budleigh there are two excellent pubs for food. In nearby Sidmouth there are a variety of modern wine bars, great restaurants and several old traditional pubs to choose from. Tearooms for the essential 'Devon cream tea' are too numerous to mention and in Budleigh Salterton you can find some of the best Ice cream in Devon.

We have had a lovely time visiting your beautiful cottage, it’s a perfect little getaway. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and so cozy and warm. Can’t fault anything, we will definitely be returning and recommending. Thanks again.
This the most cost amd comfortable place I have ever stayed in. This is truly an old cottage. It is warm and friendly. The amenities are great. From preparing meals in the kitchen to relaxing in the morning with your coffee sitting in the conservatory watching the birds take a bath in the birdbath.
The sounds of the church bells in the evening are joyful.
You will not be disappointed in choosing this cottage as your house me away from home
We had a lovely 3 night stay in 2, Jacketts.
We would definitely stay again. Clean and cosy with very welcome milk and biscuits.
Lovely area with so much to see and do.

Otterton is a nice place
Cottage is up a fairly steep hill from Otterton village in an area which is quite built up. Consequently, there are cars everywhere which makes the road fairly narrow. There is a designated parking place for the cottage but getting in the yard is pretty tight with the other cars parked there.
It was a very clean cottage and it had all the amenities we needed apart from poor internet and nowhere light enough to read at night. We loved the little courtyard garden which was beautifully done.
Otterton Mill was great for food and the walk along the River Otter was lovely. We took the bus several times to Sidmouth and to Budleigh Salterton, very easy to do, and had meals out there, which we personally preferred to the local pub.
We had a lovely stay in Otterton for the first time.We came down to visit Sidmouth as we have connections there. We really love it down here & all the sourounded areas. A lot to see & do. The property was just the right size for a family of 4 & a small dog. Has everything you need. The only down side was the poor Internet connections when our children wanted to go onto their ipads at night. Only one could go on at a time. Unfortunately they couldn't find anything to watch on the free view channels. Obviously this is not for everyone staying, but just accommodating for the younger generation! Its a great base for exploring & there's a lovely water mill & shop/cafe & short walk down the road.
Nice location. Lots of information provided on things to do locally including reading material that was relevant to the area.
Property had everything needed for a comfortable stay including easy to understand instructions for where to find what was needed in the cottage ie drying racks, keys, etc.
Loved the conservatory and the little garden.
Delightful cottage with so many beautiful extras to cover all your needs during your stay, a very thoughtful owner.
Careful consideration to guests needs, appears to be a priority , and the cottage is as described.
Otterton is a delightful Devon village, and there is easy access to many local areas. It has regular bus services, a local community shop,a nice pub, and a mill, also providing cafe/ restaurant services. An area prefect to be close to nature with the added benefits of lots of areas to go walking in peaceful surroundings.
We had a wonderful break at this property. It’s a really sweet, quirky little place to stay. It was lovely and quiet which was just want we wanted/needed. I would highly recommend this place to other family and friends. Thank you! Olivia
The cottage is roomy and the owner has made sure that it is very well-appointed making it extremely comfortable and a peaceful place to relax, to eat, and to sleep. It's a stone's throw to the village church, close to the local shop and little more than a five five-minute walk to the Kings Arms in one direction and Otterton Mill in the other, both of which are in the heart of the village and sell delicious food. This is an excellent location for walking to Budleigh Salterton, or driving to Exmouth or Sidouth or catching a train from Exmouth to Exeter, Paignton, and Teignmouth. My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much and plan to return.
Lovely cottage. So much larger than it looks in the photos. We certainly loved sitting in the conservatory. Place was nice and warm. Great pub and community shop just down the road. Lots of walks too.
Lovely, cosy cottage bigger then it looks online. Great walking from the doorstep and nice pub in the village. Village shop was great for reasonably priced local produce. Great beaches nearby. Biscuits and milk on arrival was a nice touch. Enjoyed evenings in front of the fire playing games provided. Highly recommended by family if 4 with our dog who loved it too, especially the conservatory. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Although most of the cottage is dated it is very clean and well presented. It's very quirky but has loads of space downstairs including a large bathroom, living room, conservatory room and brand new and excellent kitchen - (my partner loved your choice of tiles). The living room is old fashioned but it's very clean and comfortable.
Upstairs is also old fashioned but the beds are very comfortable and the decent sized bathroom is well equipped. The shower could be more powerful but it works perfectly.
The courtyard is small and enclosed so was a perfect place for our dog to be without fear of escape.
Overall the properly is clean, warm, well presented and comfortable. We think it would be amazing with a full update but we would definitely come back
An interesting, old style property that is well located for the Devon coast and for visiting Exeter.
The booking and checking in processes both went smoothly.
We would go back.
