Welcome to Quinta do Adagio.
Enjoy the mild weather, the calm of the countryside, the peace of rural life and absorb the typical hospitality of Colares. Live and experiment Sintra with your family and take sweet memories home with you.
The space
In our Quinta there's four independent houses with a big garden shared by all.
The house where you will be housed is the first floor of the main house and is accessible by stairs on the right-hand side of the main house.
The house has two bedrooms, a living room with kitchenette and a bathroom. It can comfortably house 6 people, with two double beds in the bedrooms and a large sofa bed for two in the living room.
The house has also a balcony with a magnificent view of the Serra de Sintra.
In addition to the beautiful garden, you can find various agricultural plantations and several fruit trees scattered around the Quinta.
You can enjoy the peaceful garden while enjoying a barbecue prepared by you on the barbecue that is at your disposal during your stay.
We, the owners, live in one of the houses of the Quinta do Adagio and we're almost always present, but we believe that our guests cherish the rest and quiet, so our interaction with them comes down to what is strictly necessary.
However, we will always be present to assist our guests in all that's necessary.
There are one dog and a cat living in harmony on our Quinta, but the space is fairly wide, so the contact with them will be limited.
The region
Colares is a pretty calm and quiet zone, where rural life is prevalent.
At about 4 km away are the beautiful West Coast beaches, including Praia Grande (famous for propitious waves for surfing and bodyboarding), Praia das Maçãs, Praia da Adraga, magnificently carved between the cliffs, Praia da Aguda, Praia de Magoito, Praia da Ursa, difficult to access, but very pretty, and a little further the famous Praia do Guincho known for strong winds that incite the practice of Windsurfing.
On the way to Praia do Guincho, you may pass by Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent, where the land ends and the sea begins, such as Luís de Camões wrote in Lusíadas.
About 7 km away, you arrive to beautiful and romantic Sintra, full of monuments, museums and green spaces.
Some of the monuments to visit, are Palácio da Pena, Castelo dos Mouros, Palácio and Quinta da Regaleira, Palácio de Monserrate, Palácio Nacional de Vila de Sintra, Conventos dos Capuchos, among others.
You can find also several museums, Sintra's News Museum, Sintra Museum of Art, Sintra's Natural History Museum, Museum Anjos Teixeira, Museum Klaus Ohnsmann, among others
About the gastronomy, if you come to Colares, you have to try the famous and unique Colares wine, so we advise our guests to experience, which can be done in the Adega Regional de Colares, just a five minutes’ walk from our Quinta do Adagio.
Even if you're not sweet tooth, in Sintra Village, is mandatory to try and delight yourself with the famous Piriquita's Travesseiros and Sapa's Queijadas.
Sintra has so much to experience that it is virtually impossible to summarize in a few words.
Inside the Quinta, there's a large private parking, if you come with your own or rented car (recommended).
You can also use public transport in the area, with buses that perform regular service between Colares, Sintra, Cascais, passing by the beaches and Cabo da Roca.
In Sintra you can take the train to Lisbon, where the public transportation network is very well structured, including subway, train, bus and tram.
Speaking of trams, it is crucial to experience a trip on the tram in Sintra, an ex-libris of the region that begins the journey in Sintra, near the Sintra Museum of Art, following to the Museum of Science Alive, passes through the back of our Quinta, where it has a stop to enjoy the trip, follows down to Colares, passing in front of the Adega Regional de Colares and then continues the journey, ending at the Praia das Maçãs. It's a fantastic journey that you shouldn't miss.
