This Moonridge cabin had everything we were looking for during a short President's Day vacation for some (very warm) skiing and hiking. Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, and all the necessary kitchen essentials. We used the spa as well--this is the first Big Bear property advertising a spa out of several we have stayed at over the years that has actually had a functional and clean spa, so we took advantage! Very pleasant stay.
The entire experience was amazing from start to finish. The owner’s niece greeted us and gave us a nice tour of the property. The accessibility was excellent and the cabin is very cozy with all the amenities one might need. Great kitchen space, living room with a fireplace and comfortable bedrooms. I would highly recommend this cabin gor anyone looking to get away to Big Bear.
Ed and Pam were easy to communicate with. The checkin/checkout process was easy. The house was clean and welcoming. The kitchen, bathrooms, and hot tub were immaculate. The kitchen is fully equipped and exceeded our expectations. Ed sends emails and texts and suggests lots of great places to dine and visit. He was also quick to respond when I had questions about his property. Thanks so much for being great hosts and we will be back soon!
We visited this amazing cabin in January for our first trip as a new family of four. We could not have had a better experience! Ed and Pam are the best hosts we’ve ever worked with. The communication before and during the trip was great. The cabin itself is perfect! Super cozy, the perfect size and in the best location. The entrance to the zoo is literally at the end of the street, and the village is about 5 minutes away. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and fireplace, each night too! We woke up to surprise overnight snowfall and had a truly magical time playing in the snow in the front and backyards. Memories we will certainly never forget. We truly hope to return to this cabin in the future!
The just was very attentive and the location was great . We enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace the most !! Great having two bathrooms as well . We will come back !
This cabin is immaculate and it's decorated so beautifully. Check-in and check-out process were both super simple. The cabin is very close to everything you might need during your stay and the owners even include a list of recommendations of local restaurants and other local things to do.
Our stay was just 2 of us but this cabin would be great for up to 5 guests. We would highly recommend this cabin and will probably book again in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay, the cabin was very cozy but we didn’t feel cramped. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking, & there was lots of information provided about the area.
Tess showed us all the things we needed to see so our transition to this lovely cabin was seamless! We unpacked an went exploring! The cabin was nice and cool considering the temperature was in the 80's. We opened up the windows when we got back from exploring and wow, such a nice breeze cooled down the cabin even more. Saturday we went to the Big Bear Zoo which was right around the corner! We had a great time. In the evening we drove to the other side of the lake so we could get a glimpse of Jackie and Shadow, the resident Bald Eagles of Big Bear! Got to see both of them from a safe distance of course! What a treat. That night we also grilled steaks on the grill in the backyard while my grandson soaked in the hot tub. Sunday morning while it was still cool, I slipped into the hot tub to soak, what a lovely morning. I highly recommend staying at Moonridge Retreat!
Thank you to Ed & Pam we enjoyed our stay at your place it was very cozy. Big bear is always a fun time. Attended a concert at big bear discovery and of course had an amazing dinner & breakfast. The house was close to all places we visited. Thank you again definitely will back to stay.
Late review. Our stay was in the last weekend of July. Spacious cabin. Amenities a plenty. Ed and Pam do a great job with the upkeep of the cabin.
Would stay there again in the Moonridge area.
Our stay at Moonridge Retreat was perfect for a quick getaway for my girlfriends birthday. The cabin is clean, comfortable and has nice amenities. The hosts are very thoughtful, thorough and communicative. We couldn't have asked for a bettet experience, thank you!! I definitely recommend staying here.
Lovely cottage, clean, well appointed and very comfortable. We boated, fished, hiked and enjoyed the evenings at The Village, or just relaxing, grilling at the house. So, quite and peaceful, can’t wait to come back.
Cabin owners, Ed and Pam, are very friendly and welcoming! We got a tour of the cabin upon arrival and info/ recommendations to explore the town! The cabin was very comfortable and the perfect size for our family of 5. There were towels and toiletries available and a washer and dryer. It was also just walking distance to the cute shops, restaurants and zoo on Moonridge, but still in a quiet neighborhood. Would recommend staying here!! Hope to be back in the future!
Cabin was clean and had everything needed. Property manager tessa was great. Owners went above and beyond by rescheduling us when we had to change plans due to my mom's passing. Amazing week in Big Bear. Highly recommend this cabin.
Nice stay in a quiet neighborhood. Used the bike path a lot, walked around. The kids loved the jacuzzi! The house was clean and comfortable! Thank you!
Everything was great. Clear communications, host was there on time and we were actually able to check in a little early. Clean cabin and jacuzzi was hot! Thank you.
Our family had a nice stay here — a great deal of you want a place with a (preheated) hot tub. Checked so many other boxes, too: friendly and communicative hosts, convenient location, TVs in every room, super clean, and Keurig coffee maker with pods. Just know the master shower is snug, and the beds are very soft, depending on our personal preference. The kids loved their room, the hot cocoa, the games, and the proximity to the zoo and Dank Donuts.

About the host

We love to travel and have been all over the United States. Big Bear is a hard place to beat. We wanted a small town atmosphere. We love anything to do with the outdoors. We absolutely love Big Bear and its people and it surrounding area. We have choose Big Bear as a retirement location and have cherished this cabin as a real place for rest and relaxation from all of the hustle and bustle in the valley below and wanted to share our place with people so they can enjoy Big Bear as we do.
Why they chose this property
We were looking for a cabin that was centrally located to all the outdoor activities for every season. Big Bear is truly a 4 season resort. During winter months we are approximately 1 mile from both ski resorts, we found it the ideal spot to play in the snow. In the summer Snow Summit has the lifts open for mountain biking. It has several trails, they opened a 1 mile loop for the beginner/casual rider to advanced/racing for the advanced riders. We are less than a mile from hiking/biking trails. We are only a couple miles from the "Village". Take a stroll, hang out by open fire pits, shop the Quaint shops. Listen to live entertainment, eat a several great restaurants, indulge on homemade fudge. Everything is here!! The fresh smell of pine is always present. The air is just always cleaner up here.
What makes this property unique
Why we fell in love with this area and home was the cozy cabin feel and the woodsy backyard views .You can't beat the magnificent view of the stars at night while relaxing in the Hot Tub that you can only view in the mountains away from the glare of the city lights. We choose this place over others was because of its close proximity to everything. Both in driving and walking. You can walk less than 1/4 mile in one direction and you'll catch the shuttle buses to ski resorts. Saves the hassle and expense of parking. You can walk/ride your bike less than 1/4 in the opposite direction and you'll be in the National forest enjoying the hiking/biking trails. Our cabin is less than a mile from all the grocery/drug/retail stores. Come and share the small town mountain experience our family encounters every time we come to get away from the hustle and bustle of the valley and enjoy SoCals true 4 season resort town and our little piece of paradise in the sky.
