About this property

Casita Azul, Blue Island Divers Resort

Casita Azul is an island style, rustic casita, located on the property of Blue Island Divers (check us out on Trip Advisor). Surrounded by lush greenery and a gorgeous view of the ocean, you will not be disappointed! Casita Azul offers a queen size bed, apartment sized kitchen and bathroom with shower. You have full use of the property which includes a private dock, a beach with lounge chairs & hammocks, complimentary use of kayaks when available and a common area at the dive shop. A divers paradise, you are steps to the dive shop and boat and if you have non divers in the group they can relax on the beach in lounge chairs, hammocks or enjoy snorkeling from our pier. Do you have more than 2 in your party? We also have 3 other units available.

Also located on property is the Salty Mango Bar & Grill.

Check In begins at 2pm and Check Out is by 11 am. This is your home away from home and the entire property is for your use.

Please note this is a diving operation and the filling of scuba tanks is limited between the hours of 8am and 9pm. Most generally this process is completed between 2pm and 5pm. However night dives do require the need to fill tanks at 8 am.

We live on property particular times of the year in the upstairs unit and will be available to assist when needed. Our customer relations staff, Maria, is available for any assistance when we are not on site. Blue Island Divers is open Monday-Saturday, 7:30am-5:30pm. Sunday's you will have the beach and premises for your use; however, the diving and bar and restaurant are closed.

From 6pm until 6:30am we have a night watchman on property as well.

We are located 10 minutes from Coxen hole and 10 minutes to West End in the quiet neighborhood of Sandy Bay. We are steps from the principal road which traverses the entire island. You can walk the beach for approximately a 1/2 mile in each direction and enjoy the tranquil breeze and beautiful mangroves or sand beach.

We have ample parking available if you rent a car and if not you're steps from being able to grab a taxi cab at the main road. We have specific taxi drivers available for tours when their schedule allows. Otherwise we recommend grabbing a cab at the road.

Electricity is included with A/C usage limited to the time spent inside the unit. We request the units are shut off when not indoors. The space is quickly cooled by multiple units when you return.
**Many other listings do not include electricity with nightly rental and some do not have air conditioning.****

Magnificent
Casa Azul was a great escape. Cottage was charming. Staff was welcoming and helpful in every aspect of our stay. It is a relaxing place to go to learn to scuba dive. We are grateful to have found this gem in Roatan and plan to return as soon as possible to continue our magical adventure.

Amazing!
Blue Island Divers is wonderful! From the staff to the property, it’s incredible. Certainly the place to stay in Roatan. Maria made sure our vacation was perfect—thank you! And the dive crew took excellent care of this first timer. Can’t wait to come back!

Quiet Lovely
We enjoyed out stay as the setting is very quiet and private. Snorkeling off and dock and coffee in our PJ's was the best. Well cared for property. Some cooking is outside but that was kind of fun. Good overall location for Roatan.

Great dive vacation!
Our vacation in Casita Azul was everything we had hoped it would be... Relaxing with great diving! We felt instantly welcome upon arrival at the property. The Blue Island Divers staff/owners were all really friendly, available, knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions. We would definitely return.

Best chill spot on the island
If private beach-front settings, fabulous sunsets and ample water adventures are your idea of a perfect vacation then this is the ideal place for you. Nestled in peaceful Sandy Bay at a prime location with nearby grocery stores in Coxen Hole and a short drive to West End and West Bay, Blue Island Divers is by far our favorite chill spot on the island. Staffed with the finest dive team to guide you to beautiful reefs and wrecks minutes from your door, you'll quickly appreciate the location and low key environment these accommodations have to offer. Wi-Fi is awesome as well. Thank you, B.I.D. We look forward to seeing y'all again soon!

Awesome chill spot
If private beach-front settings, fabulous sunsets and ample water adventures are your idea of a perfect vacation then this is the ideal place for you. Nestled in peaceful Sandy Bay at a prime location with nearby grocery stores in Coxen Hole and a short drive to West End and West Bay, "Blue Island Divers" is by far our favorite chill spot on the island. Staffed with the finest instructors/DM's on the island, the dive team will guide you to beautiful reefs and wrecks minutes from your door. Set aside a day for an island tour to see the sights by boat, hit great snorkel spots and a couple of shore stops for lunch and a stroll. You'll quickly appreciate the location and low key environment these accommodations have to offer. Owners Eric & Carly are fantastics hosts. Nick and his family at "The Salty Mango Grill" cook it up homestyle fresh. Wi-Fi is awesome as well. Thank you, B.I.D. for the experience of a lifetime. We look forward to seeing y'all again soon!

Outstanding in Every Way
Eric and Carly White were more than accommodating, and polite in every way. The pictures posted on the VRBO Web-site reflect the property exactly. We loved staying in the Studio Casita. It had everything we needed. A propane grill on the deck should you need to cook anything, plenty of pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster oven, dishes and silverware in the home. We didn't find that we needed anything extra. Now for the bonus part of the stay. I was a brand new diver (with some serious open water swim anxiety despite being a 2x Ironman finisher and triathlete) obtaining my Open Water and then an Advanced Open Water Certification during my stay on this property. Having Blue Island Dive Shop on location couldn't be more ideal. I witnessed other people who had to drive to the dive shop, carry all their belongings, and what a mess when they might forget to bring something. It was super to sit on the front porch deck, watching the ocean sway, watching the staff as they would arrive every morning in the most quiet manner, and then begin preparations for loading the boat with BCD's. tanks, cooler full of ice cold drinks and fresh cut fruit for after each dive. In general they would make sure that we had everything we needed to have the most successful dives. As soon as we finished our morning ritual of coffee and breakfast on our porch, we would put on our bathing suits and walk over to the dive shop. The Dive Shop Manager and Dive Master Instructors were second to none. It was super nice getting to know them and certainly having the same instructor for all the dives was a super confidence builder for me. We did a total of 10 dives in 5 days with the last one being a Shark Dive Encounter which was pretty cool too. As of 4 weeks ago, Eric opened up a restaurant on property called Salty Mango Grill. It's only open for breakfast and lunch so we would pre-order our meals the night before for breakfast and lunch. In the morning, everything was ready before our first dive, and then lunch would be waiting for us in between dives. The food was great and inexpensive too. Getting around in a taxi is easy but always make sure to negotiate your price before get in the cab. Grocery stores are a short drive away. And the location to West End/West Bay is good too. After having been in that area, way too many people, to much building in too small of spaces, we were ecstatic to have our own private slice of heaven at Blue Island Divers. It coudn't have been more perfec

Beautiful location, still a work in progress
My husband and I stayed in this picturesque casita for two weeks and we dove with blue island divers ( the in house dive operation) while we were there. The casita was perfect for us. It has a simple kitchen with everything you would need to make simple dinners and simple snacks between dives. The casita is in sandy bay, which is quieter and prettier then west end, but still a quick and cheap taxi ride to restaurants and night life. The grounds were lush and green. Hummingbirds and butterflies fluttering everywhere. They have a great dock that I loved. I spent lots of time swinging in a hammock and reading a book at the end of that dock. The family that runs the accommodations and dive operation are friendly and helpful. They took over in November 2014. I asked if others had stayed in the casita before we arrived and they said many people, but they are still working some stuff out. My biggest complaint is the construction that was occurring during our entire visit. Not renovation big, but every morning at 0800 I was woken up by sawing and hammering. Not ideal on vacation, and not disclosed prior to our arrival. My next complaint is that they posted in their advert that there were stand up paddle boards and kayaks available for use. I was told that there were at one time, but no longer. There is actually not any place directly in sandy bay that you can rent either. We found a fantastic guy named Steve ( from Steve's paddle shack in west end) that rented and brought the paddle boards to us so we could paddle from sandy bay to half moon bay. Third, no diving or anything open on Sunday at blue island. This is fine with us, but would have been better disclosed before we arrived so we could plan other adventures. Finally, the bugs! We traveled all over the island and the biting sand flies were the worst at blue island. Be sure to spray immediately every time you leave the water or step outside. The owner said he planned to spray for the flies, but this did not happen while we were there. We had a great time in roatan, and I would probably suggest this place in the future. However, if I had known about the construction and lack of paddle boards/kayaks I would have sought other accommodations for this trip.
