About this property

Villa des Cyprès, private pool, magnificent views, quiet location

Please note although the calendar is up to date we no longer accept bookings through VRBO. You can contact us and book via the details on villadescypres.co.uk

Villa des Cyprés is a beautiful, detached Villa at the end of a long private road with private swimming pool and standing in wooded grounds of 3000m2. In a rural setting, but not isolated and with uninterrupted south-facing views of pine and oak forests to the Massif des Maures, Villa des Cyprés is a perfect place to relax and enjoy all that Provence has to offer. The 160m2 accommodation is arranged over 2 floors with a mezzanine entrance hall; on the ground floor is a large lounge and separate kitchen with utility room, and a double bedroom with en-suite shower, separate bath and toilet and separate dressing room. All downstairs rooms are south-facing with fantastic views and have French windows onto the terracing and 10x5m private swimming pool. Upstairs there are 2 south-facing double bedrooms (1 with balcony), a bathroom with individual shower and separate bath. There is also a separate toilet upstairs.

Villa des Cyprés: Villa des Cyprés is situated at the end of a private road and was finished in 2008. All the building works are to an extremely high standard. Outside on the upper terrace there is a provate swimming pool and landscaped garden with with Italian Cypresses and Olive trees and many different herbs and plants including lavender, sage, rosemary, box hedge, lillies and clematis. There are also steps down to a lower terrace and to the grounds below the house where there is wild thyme, sage and rosemary and other herbs to add a little extra to your cuisine. Around the the other outdoor areas of the house there are many other herbs and plants including Oleanders and Oak. There are several beautiful walks from the Villa around the area through pine and oak forests and vineyards, haven for birds and other wildlife including boar and deer.

The views to the South are wonderful and, whilst the house is not isolated it's not overlooked. We love the old beams in all the main rooms, and the terracotta tiles from Salernes that cover the floor, giving it a traditional Provencal feel (no white tiles for us!) whilst at the same time having new modern conveniences. The pool is right next to the forma garden, terrace and house so you can easily keep and eye on children. It is so quiet at night and when the stars are out (most nights) the Milky Way is amazing. The local wine from the co-operative isn't to bad either!

Golf: There are 2 beautiful golf courses within 35 minutes drive of the Villa.
Both courses are set in rolling Provencal countryside with beautiful views and lined with pine and oak trees.
Golf de Barbaroux near Cabasse and Brignoles is the more generous course with fairways designed to bring your ball into play, but there are several water holes and it is the more hilly. A buggy is recommended.
St Endriol is a shorter course but there is no room for error. Both courses have websites for additional information and contact details.

Great house with a wonderful garden
We had a wonderful week in this marvelous, tasteful house. The garden is very nice designed and well kept - extraordinary for a Holiday home in the Provence. We loved the smell of the Jasmin!!! The kitchen has a very big fridge with an ice-cub-maker, what can be very useful in warm weather ;-) - Pastis is not far away. We loved to do walks in the morning in the woods around the house, where there are a lot of wild flowers, even wild orchids! It is a great area with lovely markets in nice villages.

Beautiful Villa in a fantastic Location
Holidaying at Villa des Cypres was just what our family needed to recharge our batteries after a busy year. With four teenagers to keep happy the house was great – the outdoor living space is wonderful – large family dining area and areas for us all to escape to if we needed some time snoozing away in the sunshine. The pool is a good size and right next to the kitchen and bbq area – so the cooks never felt left out from all the fun taking place in the pool. The house is well looked after and really comfortable and had everything we needed. The local manager is very helpful and on call if needed and the pool guy David does a great job and is really friendly too. The garden is beautiful and so are the views. The local area offered plenty for the family: good food, local wines, river jumping, paddle boarding, tennis, boules, canoeing, lovely walks, zip wire challenges, wine tasting, local markets and the beaches along the coast are great and offer waterslides, boat trips, snorkling and crazy banana boats for our daring teenagers! We talked, played board games, cooked great local produce, read books and totally chilled out as a family – together! We returned to life in the UK feeling like a new family. Highly recommended.

Lovely Provence Villa. Off the beaten track with superb views and a great laid back ambience.
Really felt part of the Provence way of life. Extremely peaceful villa with a nice pool and very pretty garden. The villa is at the end of a long road through forrest which brings you to a clearing with a beautiful view. Perfect for a peaceful, private holiday.

One of those, “yep.... I could live here”, places.
Moderately exciting trip to get to the villa, (villa? Is that right for S. France?), Some wonderfully twisty turns along made and un-made roads, up and down some splendid hills. Well done little Opel, you did it. Maybe a 4x4 would do it better. But where’s the fun in that. And when we got there... totally worth it. Spacious rooms, wonderfully multi level layout. And a garden and pool that almost made me want to burst into song. Almost. Admittedly, we got there a bit early, so nipped to Lorges to get lunch. Lovely food, tasty, tasty wine, and amuse the locals with some terrible schoolboy French. Then back to the villa to chill. Personally I could have spent the week just doing that. But with 3 sons...not a option. But here’s another great thing about this whole area. You’re about an hours’ drive....maybe more, depending how far you go (or how fast you drive), from some incredible places. Canoeing up the Gorge du Verdon was a pretty fun way to start things off. Thoroughly recommend catching the ferry across to Porquerolles from Hyeres. Cannes, Nice, all totally get-at-able. But for me, one of the things I really loved was being back at the villa, wine or beer in hand, lying back and doing a bit of star gazing. Don’t often see the Milky Way quite like that in the Midlands. Some places have pretty much got it all. So...better start saving. And buy meself one.

Midsummer magic in Provence
A really lovely, well equipped, stylish villa. The garden is paticulary beautiful with a gorgeous smell of Jasmine and comfortable areas to relax and dine. Entracasteaux and the surrounding villages are picture book perfect and met all our needs with several great places to eat. We had stayed at Villa des Cypres in 2011 and the return visit did not disappoint.

Gorgeous Villa in a beautiful landscape
We've had a really great time at the Villa des Cyprés & enjoyed the silence & beautiful nature at this place. + lovely garden with a really great pool & fantastic views ( several places to sit & relax, lovely garden with a lot of space for the kids to play, view over Entrecasteaux) + equipment of the house (lots of toys for the kids, everything you need & more in the kitchen, many books & dvds) + size & layout of the house + location within nature (you could go for a walk directly from the house & the guys went mountain biking several times & loved it) + great hosts that really wanted us to have a nice holiday & the communication was really good - the drive to the house is really bad & you have to be very careful that the car doesn't get damaged - cleanliness (kitchen, toilets & the bbq grill could have been in better condition)

Worth every penny: high quality, beautiful, large!
Before booking this villa, I had read in someone else's review that "this was the best villa they had booked in Provence over several years". I thought that given the vast choice and relativity of standards in amenities and appliances (German or British vs. French), that did not necessarily mean we would come to the same conclusion. Well, it did! We, that is a family with four children now aged 3-10, have stayed in a variety of houses in the Var over the last few years. Considering the combination of a beautiful and vast garden & grounds, a well kept pool and a beautiful, very well equipped house with modern, high quality building technology, this is the best house we have booked so far! If you want to find out if this is for you, here are our priorities and how they were met: - We like to have nice and comfortable space for the parents. This was fantastic: The house has a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and walk in wardrobe off the living room. The bedding was of very good quality, and even my 1.86m husband did not need to sleep with his feet hanging out. The children had two rooms up a small flight of stairs via the entrance level, with their own toilet and bathroom. Thus, they had their own level, but were also close enough just in case. Also, there were lots of good quality toys and books, there really is no need to bring any. (Unless you don't read English.) - In the past, we preferred gated or covered pools, but given the pool's location next to the terrace, it was easy to keep an eye and we were quite satisfied with the pool alarm. The pool was absolutely sufficient for 4 children. - We like to have a high quality bbq and a well equipped kitchen since we love to cook. A lot. Our expectations were surpassed: There was a nice, large gas bbq just outside the kitchen, next to the extremely beautiful patio. The kids loved the large fridge with the cold water & ice cube dispenser. I enjoyed the extra wide gas stove and sufficient oven. The kitchen literally had everything, including a good mandoline, scales and sufficient small Kenwood style kitchen machine. - The upper part of the garden is beatifully sculpted and a feast for the eyes. The rest of the hill is several 1000m2 of semi-wilderness for the children to play in. The loved it. You can also play boules in the driveway. - And: The owners were extremely kind and helpful, we would love to come back anytime!

Beautiful villa in an amazing location
We had the most fantastic holiday in this beautiful, immaculate and very comfortable house with its lovely gardens and views. It has everything that we would want in terms of facilities, all perfectly matching the descriptions listed here, plus there's a real personal touch and family feel to the place which is not surprising given that the owners are really nice and clearly care about their property and that their guests enjoy it. There is a lovely open layout that flows into the gardens, that makes it very relaxing place to stay and enjoy both the property and the surroundings. Entrecasteaux is a charming little village in a dramatic setting and the local area is stunningly beautiful with lots to do within a short distance. The food is amazing - the best of the land and the sea and all washed down with great rose! Would definitely recommend this place and would love to go back again.

Great Villa!
We have booked a number of places over the last 15 years, some good some bad, but this villa is right up there as one of the best, if not the best we have been to, we had a great holiday there in 2010 and have been a bit slow writing this review as i wanted to book for 2011 first!! when you see what some owners charge in provence....this villa is good value and has owners who really care about their property.

We are a family of 4 living in Twickenham, and both our young children are still at local schools. Simon is originally from Birmingham, whilst Lisa is from Brisbane and we both love sunshine, food and wine and the South of France.

Why they chose this property

As a young child Simon's family took several camping holidays close to Cannes during the 70's. The Cote D'Azur is now heavily built up, but the Var region is still unspoilt and typically French. Simon and Lisa took several years to find their dream place - but it was worth the wait. Lisa knew it was right when she saw the view for the first time - and it still makes us realise how lucky we are to be able to return there as often as possible.

What makes this property unique

The views to the South are wonderful and, whilst the house is not isolated it's not overlooked. We love the old beams in all the main rooms, and the terracotta tiles from Salernes that cover the floor, giving it a traditional Provencal feel (no white tiles for us!) whilst at the same time having new modern conveniences. The pool is right next to the forma garden, terrace and house so you can easily keep and eye on children. It is so quiet at night and when the stars are out (most nights) the Milky Way is amazing. The local wine from the co-operative isn't to bad either!
