This is a property of great distinction with its foundations set in history over 300 years ago. Established as a quarry mans ale house, then called the Ship Inn. From horse draw delivery of slate to the exporting ships on the coast, up until steam train delivery ceasing in the 1960's this property remained set up as a place for hard working men to take refreshment. Improved and lovingly maintained by myself it is now a romantic character cottage, retaining all of its original features. The inglenook fire place blends in with slate topped kitchen units and cosy bedrooms, with toilet and shower upstairs and luxurious bathroom on the ground floor in where the ale used to be kept. Through the rear windows the summit of Snowdon is in majestic view as it is from the decked area at the side of Ship. There is a large parking area to the rear of the cottage and a lock up shed to hold bicycles and canoes. Activity holidays are encouraged although not obligarory as it is a brilliant place to come and relax. Shops are available within walking distance as to are local Inns and eating houses. The village of Llanrug is predominantly Welsh speaking and they are just waiting to say croeso y cymru.

A very cosy hand built cottage with beautiful views from the bedroom windows. A functional and comfortable kitchen .Clean and tidy place. Friendly host and welcoming people at the local pub. All in all, a lovely place for our family holiday. Would definitely recommend this place..

The property is outstandingly clean lovely location. Fantastic log burner. Well maintained property. Plenty car parking. Shops are not very far and are walking distance. People speak English no issues
There are no negative comments.
A good place to be as it is central to everything you can do and eat.
if you have a large car you need to take a long way round as if you take the sort way the roads are narrow
This cottage is a gem, as is its owner, Basil Rose. His loving renovation of the property makes it shine with welcome and comfort. It is unique in the best possible way, like finding a fairy house in the woods. It is a rural location with grazing sheep across the road but within walking distance or a short drive to amenities. We so enjoyed returning to this lovely cottage after a day of exploring the gorgeous areas all around us.
A well maintained cottage in a quiet country lane. Spotlessly clean inside with pretty much everything you need for your stay provided, bedding, towels and all kitchen utensils. Plus a lovely log burner in the lounge
Had a great time and a perfect base to explore North Wales
Easy to plan a stay at this property and Basil was on hand to help in anyway he could. Will definitely be returning to this lovely cottage, would fully recommend it.
My second visit to ship cottage, it’s Spotlessly clean and Basil the owner is the perfect host, on hand to meet you on arrival and he lives next door so easy to contact if you have any problems. It’s got a lovely big bath too, perfect for relaxing in after my night trek up mount snowdon in aid of Marie Curie.

Ship Cottage - five wonderful days
The cottage is clean, c o for table and extremely well set up to cater for all tastes. Even though there is a road just outside the situation is quiet and peaceful with only a short 5 - 10 minute stroll to convince stores and pubs.

Lovely cottage
Perfect little cottage for family of 4. Cosy and full of character, with a fire for cold evenings, and outdoor space for hot ones. Really comfy beds. Will stay again.

Ship Cottage
Ship Cottage, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales,is truly a gem of a holiday rental. Whether the visitor wishes to climb, walk, drive, or simply escape for some much-needed rest and recuperation, this delightful cottage provides the perfect base. Would make a brilliant honeymoon stay after all the hassle of a wedding!
The exterior of the cottage and grounds remind you of yesteryear with its stone built facade and dry-stone walling. Whilst the interior maintains the historic ambience, it also provides all the bang-up-to-date mod cons that one would expect in one's own home. An added bonus is that the cottage has been lovingly restored by Basil, the owner, a welcoming and caring host. It is not just an empty house, anyone choosing this would immediately feel at home, and I would not hesitate to recommend Ship Cottage as the perfect holiday rental,

Fantastic cottage in a great location.
Basil the owner was on site to meet us on arrival, his attention to detail really shows and the cottage was spotlessly clean.
Basil lives nearby so if you have any problems it’s easy to contact him.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this property, it’s in a perfect location and very peaceful.
Thanks Basil, keep up the excellent work.
Basil and his wife have really thought of everything, homely cottage, so well equipped and beautiful. Lovely walks with views of Snowdon on the doorstep, and fabulous food in the Glyntwrog pub. Went with my daughter who is at Bangor university and we had a lovely peaceful break. Wonderful quality of the cottage and everything in it, Basil lives nearby in a chalet on the river, very laid back and friendly. Real fire all made up ready for our arrival, so kind. Happily return there any time, loved it.
