The floodlit council owned pay and display car park is just at the top of the hill a few minutes walk away however you are allowed to drive down to load and unload the car and there is a space just a few yards from the cottage where you can park up to do this. There is a car park permit for this car park provided free of charge for you and this will be on the dining room table upon arrival. Please display it on your dashboard during your stay and ensure that you park your car in the designated public area of the car park and not in the residents section. Please then leave the permit back at the cottage for the next guests when you leave.
The cottage keys will be provided for your arrival and details of where to obtain these will be emailed. You can arrive anytime after 3.00PM and if you could vacate by 10.00 AM that would be great. (please advise if either of these times cause you an issue) The post code if you are using a Sat Nav is TS13 5DF. The cottage is right down at the bottom of the village on Barrass Square which is just a few yards from the Cod & Lobster pub. we have been coming to staithes for years and this cottage did not disappoint. The photos on the site do not do it justice at all. warm and cosy , immaculately clean and everything you need for a weekend away. we will definitely book again
The property was clean and tidy and everything worked ok although the bathroom was small. Contacted the owner on one occassion and got an instant reply so no problems.
The property is well positioned in the village. The condition of it is mediocre and upon arrival we found it to be inadequately cleaned. We have made the owners aware of this.

Ideal position
Very small traditional fisherman's cottage. Ok for a couple of days we stayed longer but found the kitchen and bathroom awkward. The staircase doesn't have a bannister which could be an issue for people with mobility issues. Like all Staithes houses the stairs are steep. The cutlery, crockery and glasses were plentiful but the space to cook in is a struggle even for two people and it was a bit of a balancing act. There was more room upstairs but we found the bed uncomfortable and the pillows definitely need replacing. We didn't like the position of the bathroom in the sitting room. I hadn't noticed it stated in the property discription, otherwise I wouldn't have booked it. The yard isn't secure for dogs and wasn't nice to sit in. Being so close to the harbour this didn't matter to much but it was quite disappointing. It really could do with some money investing in it and some TLC. The carpets have seen better days, they are dark and difficult to hoover. This is evident all around the edges. All in all it would be ok for a couple of days, but I wouldn't book it again as there are some wonderful properties in the village where we have stayed before. The owners responded to questions quickly.
We have stayed at this property before and found it cosy and met most of our needs close to the harbour area. The kitchen is a bit small but has all the basic appliance's. Hot water pressure is lacking but water hot. The bathroom is functional but small. We had a problem with the shower which stopped working after the first week, it was reported but couldn't be fixed within our stay. Also the hot water basin tap sometimes was very difficult to turn off. Other than that a quiet area to stay at the bottom of the hill.

beautiful cottage at Staithes
The cottage was really nice, everything was clean, the double bed was very comfortable, there was everything that you could need really, just around the corner from the sea and the Cod and Lobster pub do lovely food at good prices.
The only disappointing aspect but quite a big thing is that the cottage is advertised as having a log burner in the lounge, which it has got but unfortunately there was a note on it saying you couldn't use it something about the chimney, which was very disappointing as we were really looking forward to that and as we went in the middle of November we really needed the log burner to be working as there were electric radiators but they dry you out and make your nose sore and as soon as you switch them off it goes cold, so basically if you are planning a winter stay it's very cold without the log burner.
I think it should be in the advertisement for the cottage that the log burner isn't allowed to be used as if we knew that the log burner wasn't working then I wouldn't have booked this cottage.
It's a really shame as other than that it's a lovely cottage .

Fabulous cottage.
Fabulous cottage. Brilliant location right by the harbour. Very well equipped with everything you need. Comfortable beds. Peaceful and quiet
Would stay here again anytime we had a lovely time. Even our dog loved it!!
We had a fabulous stay. The check in process was great, we gotin early which was great bonus
The Cod pub is good food and the locals were amazing
We will definitely stay again
Compact cottage. Well equipped kitchen. Felt lounge was a bit drab with too much Brown - suite carpet and rug. Needs upgrading. Nice to have outside area to sit. Great location handy for shops pubs cafes and beach
Lovely, small, cosy, good location, well provisioned, appliances work with no problems.
Could be clearer in terms of bin use, heating and possible issues with cliff top car park where there are 3 car parks, one of which does not accept pass provided.

Our stay at kildale
Unfortunately we found the front room furniture very uncomfortable also the dining room table had a leg missing so when extended it tipped over also there were three of us and only two chairs the patio furniture was very dirty with bird droppings which were dried on took a lot to get clean
Perfectly placed cottage, great access to the harbour/beach and easy reach of car park, parking permit was a nice touch. Really enjoyed sitting in the sun at the front and watching the day go by! Planters full of lovely flowers. We really struggled to seat three at the table as there were only two chairs and the table was too unstable when open due to apparent missing leg which made mealtimes difficult. We were self catering all week with the current restrictions and the kitchen was really well equipped. Very disappointed we couldn’t use the log burner for safety reasons. But very happy with the COVID safe arrangements for cleaning.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this beautiful cottage. It has everything you need for a great stay and the cleanliness is five star. Great location for everything, we will definitely be returning in the near future. Thank you so much Chris & Sarah 😊
Great little cottage that's fully equipped with nearly everything you need. Games & toys, dvds and books. The all important crabbing lines and nets.
In a great location just off the cobbled street and a very short walk to the beach, pubs etc. Great setting for long walks and water based activities.
From booking to checking out, we can not fault our stay at Kildale. The cottage itself is great, well appointed and situated right in the heart of the village.
We had a fabulous week swimming, building sandcastles, rock pooling, crabbing, exploring the many little alleys, nooks and crannies of Staithes and enjoying the slower pace of life. We ate in and had takeaways from The Cod and Lobster, both were excellent. Cobbles Pizzas are also highly recommended (Spanish being a firm favourite!) along with everything and everything from the butcher's ; fresh sausage rolls, pork and apple pie and divine sausages ❤️ Be sure to find time to pop in to Dotty's for scones, cake, cream tea or fab bacon butties. You won't be disappointed. All in all a perfect family week.
We can't wait to get back.x
Ideal location, lovely cosy cottage.
Great communication from Chris and Sarah.
The bed was made up for us on arrival which was a great help even though we had brought our own bedding.
Thanks for a great stay in our favorite place.
A lovely cottage in an ideal location in the heart of Staithes. Great base to explore local beaches and the Yorkshire Moors. Had all the facilities we needed and was very dog friendly too.
Great location, however cleanliness a disappointment. Also feel that a folder of information regarding the property would have been useful. Such as not to light the fire, which we didn't. And genera info. However a quaint quirky cottage.
