Life changing experience…
My wife and I were joined by four long time friends for our first vacation in Tuscany. We didn’t know what to expect but we all were blown away by the experience of staying in this villa. Its rustic authenticity and historic charm was balanced with cleanliness and a charming host (Alessandro) making sure we had everything we needed. He took great pride in sharing with us the history of the property and surrounding area all the way back to the Etruscans. We had hoped for A view from the villa but were stunned by views in every direction. We woke up every morning with espresso and finished every evening with wine enjoying the view of Pienza from the patio courtyard. The villa was perfectly located to visit Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Bagno Vignoni, Monticchiello, and (a little farther) Siena. We visited them all! Alessandro enabled us to arrange a Tuscan cooking class within the villa from a Pienza restaurant owner/chef and her daughter. The kitchen felt more like a commercial kitchen in size and food prep areas. We had eight people all working on dinner comfortably with room to spare. Each room is individually accessible from the courtyard and has its own bathroom. The rooms are spacious and clean. It’s so difficult to capture the essence of why this place is so amazing but suffice it to say that it stole our hearts and no one wanted to leave.

Brilliant for Adults
The property is beautiful and large inside. Very rustic, full of history and very comfortable. Location is perfect for Pienza and surrounding areas. Alessandro was very prompt and helpful. The grounds and pool are disappointing. The pool is shallow and plastic, surrounded by uneven plastic grass. (Grounds not suitable for children and adults with walking difficulty).

Perfect get-away in beautiful country side
The house is a perfect home away. It is very clean, very well equipped. The best mattresses we had in a vacation home. Very comfortable seating area. Amazing well-equipped kitchen. All in all just a perfect home in a wonderful location. Airconditioning and windows with screens. Shade to side outside for every hour of the day. The 5 minute car drive to the village is easy.

Old world charm near beautiful Pienza
This villa has one of the best hosts, Alessandro. He only speaks Italian but communicates easily via email/message and even with English speaking family via the phone. He gives plenty of privacy in this restored 7th century monastery but is responsive to requests and a moment away if needed. The Villa was clean and accommodated our group of 6 easily, with lots of extras and everything we needed. Alessandro was so kind and even gifted us a cake from a local bakery for a birthday in Italy, it was the best! We highly recommend Lucignanello with its beautiful views and old world charm!

Early September near Pieza, Val d'Orcia
We had a great time. Excellent location on a hilltop with all rooms having views across the Val d'Orcia and the courtyard areas looking across to Pienza itself, a delighful town. There was a professional-standard kitchen which was very well equipped and there was plenty of room to eat/relax both inside and out. There were only 4 in our group but it could accomodate many more very comfortably. I would characterise the property as rustic and authentic rather than luxurious and also historic given it was built on the remains of a much earlier monastic building which must have offered accmodation to travellers on the nearby pilgrimage route. Also very private given it was about 2km off the nearest main road and plenty to do in the areas. Alessandro was pleasant but English not his first language but emails were all answered very promptly.

Our stay at Villa Lucignanello
We spent 5 weeks at this property with friends and family. We couldn't have asked for a better time. Although it was extremely hot, the villa had fans and we were quite comfortable. The villa had everything we needed or wanted and the location allowed us beautiful views of Pienza in the morning as the sun came up, and absolutely stunning views as the sun went down behind the city. It was picture perfect. Our host and owner, Alessandro, went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed, I've said that he is the best host I've ever dealt with for a VRBO vacation rental, even with the language barrier. I used a translator app for conversations, and he could not have been more delightful. The kitchen was amazing, the bedrooms each had a separate outdoor entrance, and the outdoor common areas were lovely. Since the days were close to 100 degrees F every day, Alessandro brought us an extra fan for the outdoor covered area. A true gentleman always thinking about his guests. There were also cats who came to visit which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would love to come back to this lovely spot. It is close to many hill towns, and Pienza is one of the loveliest. I highly recommend this beautiful, rustic, and very historic home. Donna Famularo, USA

Wonderful stay at Lucignanello
This property and our vacation there could not have been better! Alessandro is very welcoming host, who met us at both our arrival and departure and stayed in touch throughout our stay. In particular, he gave us history of the house and the surrounding countryside, and an introduction to some local wines (including his own!) The house itself offers a perfect balance between privacy and places to gather together including a large, well equipped kitchen. The furnishings are comfortable and attractive, and history is all around its very private location on a hilltop between Pienza and Montichiello (two lovely hill towns very close by). I can't recommend this property too tightly and palm to come back again.

Special memories
We spent 3 weeks in Italy in 5 different cities and lodgings. By far this was the very best. The farm was perfect. We wanted for nothing. Our host Alessandro is a delight. This would be perfect for a small group, family or even as a place for artists to enjoy together. Every direction is a painting. We loved it.

A True Tuscan Experience
Situated in the velvety, gentle, rolling hillsides within 30 minutes of 6 different medieval hill towns, this is the true Tuscan experience. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated in this sprawling totally-updated centuries-old farm house. The property is well appointed with dining and  seating areas.  The bathrooms are spotlessly clean and modern. A chef’s kitchen complete with every needed utensil and high quality appliances makes preparing meals a joy. As a host Alessandro is gracious in welcoming guests and is particular about maintaining the pool, flowers and courtyard areas to perfection. Views of Pienza and the verdant rolling Tuscan hills are superb.  Sunsets and sunrises are lovely. Playful cats scamper around the courtyard.  It’s short drive to acquire groceries and supplies in Pienza.   Fast WiFi is provided. Staying at Lucignanello captures the essence of true Tuscany and combines it with five star luxury. It is truly magical, and we're already booked for another stay in July of 2020. Heaven on earth!
We were so fortunate to have found Lucignanello for our last leg of our visit to Italy, so relaxing but so much to see and do. The villa was beautiful, 1st quality in everyway. We had total privacy, spacious bedrooms, comfortable beds, large bathrooms well equipped with all the necessities and a kitchen, dining and living area that accommodated our needs very nicely. The outside porch and patio were well utilized since the weather we had was perfect! The villa location made our trips into Pienza for meals and shopping very easy. Trips to Montepulciano, Monticchiello, Montalcino, San Quirico d'Orcia and Siena were enjoyable. Sevario and Gabriel treated us to a meal to remember! Great food and wine prepared for us, eating with wonderful friends at Lucignanello was a highlight of our stay. Oh, and don't miss the sunrise and sunset...spectacular! Thank you Alessandro for sharing your home with us. Thank you Ana, you were prompt in your email replies, helpful in coordinating our Chef experience, patient with my many questions and our late arrival and so very welcoming. I was thrilled to finally meet you! All the best.

The villa and surrounding area was absolutely beautiful and as depicted on the website
Anna met us when we arrived and she showed us around the villa and explained how appliances, etc. worked. She gave us her contact number in case we had any questions or issues. She was wonderful and responded quickly when contacted. The road up to the villa was quite an experience (5 minutes on a one lane gravel road, uphill and downhill and many curves in the road. It was quite an adventure and the villa well worth the trip! The property itself is gorgeous as is the surrounding landscape. The huge, fully equipped kitchen was great and we made most of our meals at the villa. We used the villa as our home base. We visited many surrounding towns and spent other days relaxing at the villa. The property had cats (which we loved and fed) and small and large pigs. This made our visit even more enjoyable. I would recommend this villa to anyone wishing to stay in Tuscany.

Great stay - great hosts!
We had a great stay at this property - great owner (thanks, Allesandro) and terrific responsive staff (thanks, Ana!). The view is second to none from the open patio area where we often had apertivo and dinner watching the sun set over the town of Pienza. The kitchen is huge, well stocked with plenty of glasses/dishes, etc... and a pleasure to prepare food when we wanted to. We were able to help ourselves to the vegetable garden, which was the perfect complement to our terrace antipasto. Place was very clean, plenty of towels for showering, and the pool was a welcome respite after a hot day. The pool still needs a bit of work, but it was fine for most of our stay. Rooms great with their own bathrooms - a big plus for 8 people. Only one room with air conditioning, so it was a bit hot at night during this heat wave, but fans made it fairly comfortable at night. Beds were comfortable too. Overall, we had a great stay here. Charming property and charming hosts. Thanks for a memorable week in Tuscany!!

Just perfect, charming villa spotlessly clean
This place is absolutely gorgeous, not only because of its scene but also because of the beauty of the Villa. So quiet and in harmony with nature, felt like it was a magic spot on earth. It's like a castle on a hill, so quiet and peaceful. The villa was incredibly clean and we had all the comforts we needed (the bath products were wonderful and there was always plenty of fresh towels). There are little extra touches everywhere, from the rooms decors to the delicious dinners and the extra activities. The owners are attentive and very kind! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel the peacefulness of Tuscany in its wonderful valley. Definitely a truly memorable holiday!
