Perfect place to kick up our feet for a long weekend break. Loved being able to go hiking in the Peak District and spent a day at Alton Towers. The village is beautiful and quiet, which gives that relaxing feel. Hope to return again in the future!

Fantastic stay
We had a lovely stay in Michele’s cottage. Super cosy with the underfloor heating and reclining sofa. The cottage itself is well located next to local attractions but far enough away for a relaxing stay, no matter what your plans. Michele was a great host from start to finish. Thank you for everything, we’ll definitely be back :)

Highly Recommended A+++
Our stay was what we expected and more. The property was exactly as described and I highly recommend. The kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom and bathroom were the perfect size for the two of us and very comfortable. Michele was a great host. Communication was exceptional and she gave us tips, advice and guidance that went above and beyond - thank you Michele! Again, if you are considering a stay I would highly recommend!

Relaxing break
The location of this cottage is just perfectly situated for exploring some beautiful countryside. It is peaceful and quiet and is well equipped with everything you need. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and was shown round and given some ideas on places to visit. The information folder is absolutely spot on. We did some great walks, had super food at the local pub and spent time relaxing in this extremely lovely cottage. Thanks for the little extras it was very much appreciated.

The cottage itself had an incredible rustic yet modern feel and was everything we needed to enjoy our honeymoon. Mostly lovely with a few issues
Lovely location- the town of Ellastone is sweet, with a fantastic pub. Nice and quiet on tucked away on a lane, with lovely neighbours. Good central location to go up into the Peaks District Nat Park, and also for a full day trip down to the Cotswolds. Updated semi detached with living and kitchen downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Had most things that would be needed. Milk was kindly provided along with tea and coffee. Lots of light in the flat. Good parking spot right outside the door. Major issue was electricity. For some reason it was via a prepaid metre. Electricity ran out half way through my stay- the owner was very responsive when I messaged her, coming straight away. She topped it up, saying it was extremely unusual that it ran out. Implied was that I was using an excessive amount. She was polite but seemed annoyed. As I was out through the day, and like dim lighting, didn’t cook and didn’t use the drier I don’t know that this could be the case. Even though this was promptly resolved I then felt uncomfortable switching anything on. And by the time I got up on my final morning the electricity had run out again. I didn’t bother with contacting this time, just packed and left, as messaged the owner to let her know once I had phone reception. The owner may have been really prompt and apologetic etc if I had have reached out that final morning, but after her initial response I didn’t want to risk feeling low key judged. Having electricity not continuously available, without owner needing to pop in to top up, is not really good for a holiday let (even if the use was ‘more’ than expected)

FANTASTIC LITTLE COTTAAGE
This cottage was spotlessly clean with some lovely touches ie: robes/tea/coffee/sugar supplied. Michele the owner met us on arrival and is a lovely, bubbly lady. The only thing for us was there was very little outside space, just a small table with 2 chairs in front of where the car is parked. We cannot fault the cottage itself at all

A perfect place to stay
We stayed two weeks and the only problem was having to leave! The amenities are exactly as described on the web site and include everything you could possibly need for a short or extended stay. We appreciated having closets large enough to stash suitcases out of the way and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space for clothes. The kitchen area is fully-equipped although if you get tired of cooking it is a 5-minute walk to the Dunscombe Arms, which offers excellent, albeit pricy lunch and dinners (it has a small public bar as well). Church Lane is very quiet and if you sleep with the window open you will only be disturbed by the Wood Pigeons.

Beautiful cottage! Fantastic stay
From the minute we booked, Michele was so helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. Upon arrival we were greeted by Michele who shown us around the cottage and told us everything we needed to know, and said we could contact her at any point during our stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for your stay!! Not forgetting to bathrobes, umbrellas, tea/coffee/milk/sugar & biscuits!! We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing break for our 8 year anniversary. We will return in the future, and we highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing break at a very reasonable price :)

Why they chose this property

Holly Cottage was totally refurbished in 2012. Previously it had been semi-derelict and used as a garage and store room since 1967. We have tastefully and sympathetically brought it up to the very high standards expected by our guests. The tiled floor downstairs features underfloor heating, which makes the lounge cosy on the coldest of days. Our fully fitted kitchen provides everything that you need during your stay, including a full sized cooker, a dishwasher and a washing machine incorporating a tumble drier. We have hand made oak doors throughout the property, and solid oak floors upstairs. The bathroom features a free-standing, double ended bath tub for a long relaxing soak, along with an electric shower for alternative bathing.
