The apartment that almost ended my trip to England and my marriage
First the pros.
1. Location: Decent neighborhood, with close proximity to Paddington train station and to the wonderful Little Venice area.
2. The living area was nice, with space cleverly maximized.
3. Washing machine worked.
Cons
1. That 2nd bedroom. Where do I begin? The bed being on the floor and its short height was for either children or midgets, making it challenging each time getting up. The bed also takes up much of the room. With a TV mounted on the wall facing the edge of the bed, the only way I could make my way around without falling was to either crawl on my knees or grab a hold of the TV as I sidestepped around the bed. I am not being dramatic when I say that my wife that first night was in tears and threatening to go to a hotel.
2. Then insult to injury, that 2nd bathroom. It was like being in an airplane bathroom. The sink was so small and narrow, you couldn’t even put a bar of soap on it.
3. Nick or whoever is responsible for the key situation needs to get a new set of locks on both the door leading into the building and the door into the actual apartment. So much time wasted each day fiddling around with the keys trying to open the doors.
4. Again, not sure if this is Nick, but the owner of that building should be ashamed. The only one on the block with peeling paint, chipped walls, and mold visible above the door.
Overall, renters beware, as that 2nd bedroom and the way it’s currently set up is not suitable for adults.
