About this property

Stunning Home On 20 Mountainous Acres 6 Miles From Mainstreet Bozeman

Experience mountain living just 6 miles from downtown Bozeman and only 2 miles off Interstate 90.

Wake to breathtaking views of Mount Ellis perfectly framed in the 25' wall of windows. Bask in the morning sun while having breakfast on the southern exposed 800 sf deck. You'll be serenaded by the sounds of gurgling water from Bear Creek and entertained by the wildlife frolicking in the meadow below.

After breakfast, hike down to Bear Creek, which is just at the bottom of your driveway. Follow the creek to the Bear Canyon trail head. The well-maintained trail follows Bear Creek up the lush, spectacular canyon and eventually to the Bear Lakes. This trail stays close to the cascading waters of the creek, gaining relatively little elevation making for an easy hike and very pleasurable experience.

You'll have to hustle to be home in time for lunch. After lunch the more adventurous among you strike out to climb Mount Ellis. After heading back down the driveway and across Bear Creek, you will face a climb that culminates at Mount Ellis' 7,700 ft. summit--3,000 ft. higher than where you started. The climb is worth every drop of sweat, as the summits' vistas are indescribable.

For those less bold, shopping in historic downtown Bozeman awaits. With loads of unique shops and art galleries, Bozeman is a shopper's paradise. The city also hosts "music on main" every Thursday throughout the summer, where a portion of main street is blocked off for free concerts that showcase local musical talent.

After everyone arrives home from their afternoon excursions, you gather together to share food and stories on the deck. From there you migrate to the hot tub on the far end of the deck to soak your weary muscles. As you lean your head back to take in the Montana sky you whisper to yourself... this will be a day I will always remember!

Finding a home on 20 mountainous acres within a few minutes of downtown Bozeman is exceedingly rare. Besides the fact Bear Canyon is breathtakingly beautiful, the home will saturate your senses, while keeping you comfortable. It is loaded with glass and perfectly situated to soak in the stunning outdoors, while being equally as stunning inside. Soaring ceilings clad in wood are supported by massive wood beams in every room. Each level of the home has a theme: western, Native American and wildlife, with corresponding art, in many cases originals, adorning the walls. Every bedroom is outfitted with a sleep number bed that allows each guest to determine the firmness of their side of the mattress. All counter tops are granite and showers are tiled. Hardwood and slate flooring can be found throughout. A sauna and hot tub provide relaxation for weary muscles, while fitness equipment allows you to tone them. Two 60" flat screens in the living areas as well as several bedroom TVs provide electronic entertainment if desired. A fully equipped kitchen along with a gas stove/oven and Weber grill enhance the cooking experience. Though opening the windows to the mountain air is typically sufficient for cooling in the summer months, the home is equipped with central air. For cooler seasons, the home has a state-of-the-art forced air furnace, along with a gas fireplace to add coziness and comfort. The property also boasts a detached 3 car garage.

Stay Here!!!
Absolutely beautiful house, located close enough to everything but far enough to give you plenty of space and such a peaceful stay. The inside is so cozy and comfortable and there are even more sleep spots than advertised because these couches are so comfortable. The host was incredible and responsive and made sure everything was perfect. We will 100% be back!

Amazing stay
We stayed for a week in January with our adult children and their spouses, our teenaged son, and 2 grandchildren. The house was perfect! Close to town and ski resorts yet far enough out for privacy. The hot tub and sauna were great after skiing all day. This is the most well equipped rental I have ever stayed in! The house itself is clean and comfortable. Wade was incredibly responsive and made sure to check in with us every day to check the condition of the driveway and see if it needed plowed. We had a wonderful week here and would definitely stay again.

My wife and I needed a place close to Bozeman but not in the city. A bit of space was needed. This was the perfect place. Great views, easy access, awesome master bedroom and amazing amenities. Would come back at any time for any reason!

Bozeman hideaway
Went to Bozeman to celebrate retirement with two other girlfriends also retiring. The house was gorgeous and great location if you want to be in the hills, but everything is a 10 minute drive into town. The owner, Wade, made sure he was available via text for any of our needs. Door Dash will deliver food in this location. We had cattle, a fox, deer come up to the house. The view is awesome.

We loved it!
Our group of 5 seniors stayed at this home for 5 nights in July 2023. It really is a beautiful home and the view is spectacular. The house was well-stocked and I loved the decor. Loved having a washer and dryer! We saw deers and chipmunks but no bears. It is very convenient to Bozeman. The owners were very responsive to my questions and made us feel welcome. I would highly recommend this home to other vacationers.

Mountain serenity
Wonderful home, wonderful location, wonderful owners. Spacious, welcoming, exceptionally clean and well appointed. We were a party of nine family members. Wade's home is located within the quiet, serene Bear Canyon. It is an awesome location. Although, you feel miles away from anything you are within reatively close proximity to pretty much everything that may be on your to do list. We were able to travel to all of our destinations without spending most of the day behind a windshield. We returned daily to the quiet serenity of Bear Canyon enjoying barbequing, cocktails and great conversation inside the lovely open area kitchen and outside on the deck. We hiked multiple trails from the home, daily. We all had a wonderful time and were sad to leave.

Misleading description
Beautiful house and location, but there's a reason no photos of the bathrooms are included. There are two full bathrooms, two half baths, and a separate shower off the downstairs "bedroom". Two of the main level bedrooms only have access to a very small powder room shared by everyone in the house and have to use one of the ensuite bathrooms (i.e. go through someone else's bedroom) for use of a shower, two of which are on other floors (very inconvenient, and potentially uncomfortable). The downstairs bedroom has no windows and only hanging curtains on the two openings (no doors). It also has no closet or dresser and neither does the bedroom off the kitchen. There's also a sauna right in the middle of the family room. Most of the rooms have no curtains on the windows, so direct sun most of the day including early morning. Although it looks nice online, we found the layout very strange, especially with respect to the bathrooms and downstairs "bedroom". I wouldn't rent this place again as I think there are better overall options for the price.

Beautiful views of Montana and easy access to Bozeman and Yellowstone
This is a great house for a family or friends gathering. The property is beautiful and has a lot of gathering space and space to spread out and be by yourself to enjoy the scenery. The house is 3 levels - the top bedroom is a loft over the kitchen/living area (so keep that in mind for counting bedrooms, but the view from that loft is breathtaking), there are three bedrooms on the main floor including the master, and downstairs there is a bedroom and another TV room so the late night crew can still watch TV downstairs or play games while others retire for the night upstairs. The owners were very attentive and answered all of our questions right away and plowed our driveway when it snowed. The property is well appointed and nicely decorated.

Incredible property and hosts
It snowed a lot during our stay and Wade was 100% on top of communicating with us to ensure we’d be able to access and leave on our schedule. I’ve never thought of the host as a feature of the site, but did here. Thank you for being so awesome Wade! The hot tub was just the ticket for recovery after long powder days on the slopes. We love cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals for our group of 8. Would definitely stay here again!

Words can not describe the location of this cabin! Pictures do not do it justice! The view was breathtaking! The cabin is beautifully decorated with a warm cozy feel. Plenty of room for a large family to hang out. The hosts were so kind and very attentive to making sure everything was to our liking. Bree the house manager was so sweet showing us around the property and explaining certain things. We will definitively stay here next time we plan a trip to Montana! Hopefully in the spring!

We booked this property as a family getaway to rest and recharge. It is an absolutely stunning property. The view is a million dollar one, house is absolutely beautiful and has all the amenities you will need. Wade, the owner is awesome. Great communication, they came and plowed the driveway for us before we arrived. You definitely need 4WD with snow tires in winter- used Wade’s recommendation on local rental service and no issues in snow or ice at all. Would highly, highly recommend, and would definitely stay here again. A++ experience.

Wonderful space to get away from it all
Rented this lodge for a quiet Thanksgiving and were very impressed. Wade and Kathy have a very nice home there -- kitchen had all the cookware, and appliances to make our time very easy and enjoyable. We tend to hunker around food, so the great room and dining table were perfect for that. Good beds in the place (sleep number) as well as nice couches, etc. Hot Tub and Sauna were great in concept although didn't use them myself. Location couldn't be beat - literally 10 minutes from downtown Bozeman. Definitely need 4wd and snow tires. Hope to be back again.

This property is breathtaking. We had our October micro-wedding here and it was beautiful. The views from the home are stunning, and wildlife is everywhere you look. We saw deer, fox, and even a black bear! The home itself is fully stocked and has a hot tub, sauna, and tvs in every room. It is the perfect place for gathering with your loved ones and relaxing. The hosts were super helpful and communicative throughout our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone who likes to be close enough to town for convenience or nightlife, but wants to stay a little off the beaten path.

About the host

Host profile image
We are transplanted Minnesotans... came to Bozeman for our careers... and the warm weather! We formerly had a vacation rental in Detroit Lakes, MN listed on VRBO. Though we appreciated the cash flow, we really enjoyed meeting people from all over the country... some of whom we developed friendships with. Given our prior experience, we decided to buy a home in Bozeman for the same purpose. We just hosted our first guests in May '15.

Why they chose this property

Finding a home on 20 mountainous acres within 5 minutes from downtown Bozeman is exceedingly rare. Every bedroom is outfitted with Consumer Reports highest rated mattress (Sleep Number), which allows each guest to determine the firmness of their side of the bed. All counter tops are granite and showers are tiled. Hardwood and slate flooring can be found throughout. A sauna and hot tub provide relaxation for weary muscles, while fitness equipment allows you to tone them. Two 60" flat screen televisions provide electronic entertainment if desired. A fully equipped kitchen along with a gas stove/oven and Weber grill enhance the cooking experience. Though opening the windows to the mountain air is typically sufficient for cooling in the summer months, the home is equipped with central air. For cooler seasons, the home has a state-of-the-art forced air furnace, along with a wood stove and gas fireplace to add coziness and comfort. The property also boasts a detached 3 car garage.
