About this property

Stunning Home On 20 Mountainous Acres 6 Miles From Mainstreet Bozeman

Experience mountain living just 6 miles from downtown Bozeman and only 2 miles off Interstate 90.

Wake to breathtaking views of Mount Ellis perfectly framed in the 25' wall of windows. Bask in the morning sun while having breakfast on the southern exposed 800 sf deck. You'll be serenaded by the sounds of gurgling water from Bear Creek and entertained by the wildlife frolicking in the meadow below.

After breakfast, hike down to Bear Creek, which is just at the bottom of your driveway. Follow the creek to the Bear Canyon trail head. The well-maintained trail follows Bear Creek up the lush, spectacular canyon and eventually to the Bear Lakes. This trail stays close to the cascading waters of the creek, gaining relatively little elevation making for an easy hike and very pleasurable experience.

You'll have to hustle to be home in time for lunch. After lunch the more adventurous among you strike out to climb Mount Ellis. After heading back down the driveway and across Bear Creek, you will face a climb that culminates at Mount Ellis' 7,700 ft. summit--3,000 ft. higher than where you started. The climb is worth every drop of sweat, as the summits' vistas are indescribable.

For those less bold, shopping in historic downtown Bozeman awaits. With loads of unique shops and art galleries, Bozeman is a shopper's paradise. The city also hosts "music on main" every Thursday throughout the summer, where a portion of main street is blocked off for free concerts that showcase local musical talent.

After everyone arrives home from their afternoon excursions, you gather together to share food and stories on the deck. From there you migrate to the hot tub on the far end of the deck to soak your weary muscles. As you lean your head back to take in the Montana sky you whisper to yourself... this will be a day I will always remember!

Finding a home on 20 mountainous acres within a few minutes of downtown Bozeman is exceedingly rare. Besides the fact Bear Canyon is breathtakingly beautiful, the home will saturate your senses, while keeping you comfortable. It is loaded with glass and perfectly situated to soak in the stunning outdoors, while being equally as stunning inside. Soaring ceilings clad in wood are supported by massive wood beams in every room. Each level of the home has a theme: western, Native American and wildlife, with corresponding art, in many cases originals, adorning the walls. Every bedroom is outfitted with a sleep number bed that allows each guest to determine the firmness of their side of the mattress. All counter tops are granite and showers are tiled. Hardwood and slate flooring can be found throughout. A sauna and hot tub provide relaxation for weary muscles, while fitness equipment allows you to tone them. Two 60" flat screens in the living areas as well as several bedroom TVs provide electronic entertainment if desired. A fully equipped kitchen along with a gas stove/oven and Weber grill enhance the cooking experience. Though opening the windows to the mountain air is typically sufficient for cooling in the summer months, the home is equipped with central air. For cooler seasons, the home has a state-of-the-art forced air furnace, along with a gas fireplace to add coziness and comfort. The property also boasts a detached 3 car garage.

Stunning House w/ an even more Stunning View

Our entire stay was amazing. Booked this house for our Big Sky ski trip. Only about an hour from the mountain, it felt like we had our own private mountain. The views were stunning and the hot tub could not have been put in a better spot.Wade was also an excellent host. Him and his wife welcomed us when we arrived and gave us the entire run down of the property. They were very responsive and helpful.I would recommend staying here 10 times out of 10. Hope to be back.

Beautiful place

Had an amazing time and the house was a great homebase! We spent most of our time at the house on the deck and listening/watching nature. When we weren't on the deck, we were inside cooking or out exploring the beautiful state!

Memories

We had a great time…the weather was wonderful since back at home it was 102. The house was great with everything we needed. We were out during the day fly fishing and seeing other towns. We relaxed at night and enjoyed sitting on the porch. An overall A+

Beautiful view and close to town

Great property and convenient to Bozeman and Bridger Bowl. The driveway is a little steep in the winter, but the owners kept it cleared.

Montana Summer Camp

We stayed nearly three weeks at this spectacular property, hosting relatives from my wife's side of the family, then relatives from my side, and then three other couples. The house easily accommodated these various groups with its five beds and the futon. The property is well-equipped with most everything one can imagine. The hosts were responsive to address our needs. The house is located just a short drive to downtown Bozeman where we enjoyed the bars and restaurants. I will miss sitting on the porch in the morning looking out at the beautiful mountains and scenery.

Amazing stay

We stayed for a week in January with our adult children and their spouses, our teenaged son, and 2 grandchildren. The house was perfect! Close to town and ski resorts yet far enough out for privacy. The hot tub and sauna were great after skiing all day. This is the most well equipped rental I have ever stayed in! The house itself is clean and comfortable. Wade was incredibly responsive and made sure to check in with us every day to check the condition of the driveway and see if it needed plowed. We had a wonderful week here and would definitely stay again.

We loved it!

Our group of 5 seniors stayed at this home for 5 nights in July 2023. It really is a beautiful home and the view is spectacular. The house was well-stocked and I loved the decor. Loved having a washer and dryer! We saw deers and chipmunks but no bears. It is very convenient to Bozeman. The owners were very responsive to my questions and made us feel welcome. I would highly recommend this home to other vacationers.

Beautiful home for familly vacations

Our week at this home was wonderful. The architecture and views are stunning. The house is well decorated and clean, with modern appliances, fitness equipment, sauna, whirlpool, and a gourmet kitchen. Morning coffee on the outdoor deck was one of the highlights of our week here. We saw wildlife, took in the smell of fresh pine air, while viewing spectacular mountains from this beautiful setting. The owners are wonderful people, who made sure everything was perfect for our stay. We highly recommend this home for anyone looking to vacation in Bozeman.

Bozeman hideaway

Went to Bozeman to celebrate retirement with two other girlfriends also retiring. The house was gorgeous and great location if you want to be in the hills, but everything is a 10 minute drive into town. The owner, Wade, made sure he was available via text for any of our needs. Door Dash will deliver food in this location. We had cattle, a fox, deer come up to the house. The view is awesome.

Couldn’t wait to be back again.

This was our 2nd family stay at this rental. Summer of 2022 and 2024. The proximity to town added to the Absolutely beautiful views from this cabin cannot be beat. Both of our stays here we had a party of nine and this house is big enough that we did not feel cramped at any time. The hosts, Wade and Kathy, are extremely friendly and helpful. The views from the hot tub in the morning or the evening are breathtaking and most mornings or evenings you share them with the deer grazing around the cabin! I grew up in the mountain states and when I come back, this perfectly fits my idea of what it is supposed to be like. We will be back for sure in 2026 and we cannot wait to do it all over again. You will not get a better view for the price anywhere in Bozeman.

Incredible property and hosts

It snowed a lot during our stay and Wade was 100% on top of communicating with us to ensure we’d be able to access and leave on our schedule. I’ve never thought of the host as a feature of the site, but did here. Thank you for being so awesome Wade! The hot tub was just the ticket for recovery after long powder days on the slopes. We love cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals for our group of 8. Would definitely stay here again!

About the host

Host profile image
We are transplanted Minnesotans... came to Bozeman for our careers... and the warm weather! We formerly had a vacation rental in Detroit Lakes, MN listed on VRBO. Though we appreciated the cash flow, we really enjoyed meeting people from all over the country... some of whom we developed friendships with. Given our prior experience, we decided to buy a home in Bozeman for the same purpose. We just hosted our first guests in May '15.

Why they chose this property

Finding a home on 20 mountainous acres within 5 minutes from downtown Bozeman is exceedingly rare. Every bedroom is outfitted with Consumer Reports highest rated mattress (Sleep Number), which allows each guest to determine the firmness of their side of the bed. All counter tops are granite and showers are tiled. Hardwood and slate flooring can be found throughout. A sauna and hot tub provide relaxation for weary muscles, while fitness equipment allows you to tone them. Two 60" flat screen televisions provide electronic entertainment if desired. A fully equipped kitchen along with a gas stove/oven and Weber grill enhance the cooking experience. Though opening the windows to the mountain air is typically sufficient for cooling in the summer months, the home is equipped with central air. For cooler seasons, the home has a state-of-the-art forced air furnace, along with a wood stove and gas fireplace to add coziness and comfort. The property also boasts a detached 3 car garage.
