A calm oasis
Clean, well-organized, everything you could want and some extras: homemade bread in welcome basket, lots of extra pillows, blankets and linens. Non-slip tile in shower was a real plus! A farm with sheep and donkeys is right across the road and it was great fun to watch them from a comfortable seat on the porch.

Weekend country get away
Wonderful weekend getaway! Beautiful, cozy yet spacious home that supplied all of our needs and then some. Delightful outside area where we ate cheese and crackers and drank wine while watching the sheep, goats and donkeys across the street and enjoyed the breeze. Home is so tastefully renovated and extremely comfortable. 15 minutes from hamburg where Cabelas is,Russel stover store and more. Crystal caverns within 25 min drive too and you are right down the road from hawk mountain santuary and appalachian trails. Wonderful weekend. We will be back. My husband already booked a boys weekend on may!

Perfect Quiet Getaway
What a perfect place for rest and relaxation. The schoolhouse had everything we needed for our quiet unplugged getaway. The house is beautifully decorated and oh so cozy. It really felt like home! The kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals as we choose to do. Many food/kitchen items had been left from previous vacationers. The fireplace made the living room cozy and warm and the couch with chase was super comfy. Our bedroom was perfect and the bed a dream to sleep on. We enjoyed walking the grounds, visiting our furry friends across the street, reading all the books and learning about the history of the little schoolhouse. This vacation spot works for an isolation getaway, or one that includes hiking, visiting wineries, local breweries, and Pennsylvania shops. We loved our time here and do look forward to returning!

Perfect, tranquil stay!
Perfect place for peace and quiet (closest neighbors are deer, goats, and donkeys). 15 minutes from shopping and restaurants, 30 minutes from Jim Thorpe. Didn't have cell coverage, but provided Wifi worked perfectly. The home is nicely furnished, with a full kitchen, a patio for an evening glass of wine and deer watching, or a coffee in the morning with the birds.

Hiking excursion
Great location with respect to Hawk Mountain and Pinnacle Rock trails. We also loved watching all the farm animals across the street. The house was very well stocked and the added basket of goodies was a very nice touch. Bed was reasonably comfortable and we also enjoyed sitting on the patio. Kitchen is small but works well for a couple.

Cozy and unique getaway
We spent Christmas at this cozy little getaway, and it was absolutely perfect. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in outside of my own. The view was gorgeous and the fireplace was fantastic. The pantry was stocked, and we were even greeted with homemade bread and treats. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

This is the place you are looking for!
The Kinder Hawk schoolhouse was beyond our expectations! Cozy, beautiful and magical! Although it was pouring when we arrived, it was the perfect place to hunker down by the fireplace, relax and read about the history and natural history of the area we were in. Our autumnal surroundings were magical! The hosts kept in touch with us and provided extra welcoming local treats and assistance when we needed it. Our time there was too short! And when it stopped raining, we searched for Pennsylvania German barn hexes and climbed Hawk Mountain! Amazing!

Returning guests, wished items had been addressed
We returned to this lovely place to combine the fall migration at hawk mountain, beautiful surroundings, and rejuvenate as a busy couple. It’s a special place and reasonably priced. All I wanted to do when we got there was open the big beautiful windows and bring in the fresh air and bird/animal sounds (and get rid of mustiness). As before, the windowsills were filled with bugs and though I vacuumed them myself last year, just didn’t want to again. The kitchen had ants (we cleaned out the toaster to rectify). We hoped to enjoy the fire pit on the patio but the tank was empty. We did call about the ants and tank and the property manager replied immediately. Sadly, after a full day on the mountain, we decided not to stay the night and went home early. With a little more attention to cleanliness it would be a perfect destination.

Wow! Wonderful Getaway
Pictures do not do justice to wonderfully designed, spacious and historic Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse. Neat as a pin, very clean; the check-in/check-out process is quick and easy. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and were delighted with how well it is appointed. The views from both the front porch and the patio are beautiful and peaceful. Spend some time out there relaxing and you'll discover that not all sheep "baa" the same way (who knew?). The thoughtful gift basket of home baked and delicious goodies was such a treat. The area is just beautiful, and spectacular Hawk Mountain Santuary, just two miles up the road, is not to be missed, especially when the raptors are migrating (fascinating to watch and well worth the hike up to the North Lookout). We're looking forward to coming back to this special haven next year!

The Road Less Traveled
There’s a timeless quality to Kinder Hawk located beside rolling hills and picturesque farms on a Road Less Traveled. It’s hard to imagine a more peaceful setting. Deer nibble in the fields at dusk while birds chirp in the stately trees. Breezes blow softly through the valley. If you’re looking for solitude, this is the place.

Beautiful Rental
FANTASTIC.. We have been renting vacation homes for many years . This home was the best. I got to meet the owner since she came right over when I called since I could not get the iPad going or the tv . The welcome basket was everything you needed to have a beautiful breakfast and great welcome snacks . We look forward to one day renting this house again

Growing up within a quarter mile of both Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse and our current farm, Jim, has intimate knowledge of the Albany township/Kempton area. Our main business is Robertson's Renovations General Contracting. We specialize in renovating older homes. Kinder Hawk will eventually become our retirement home - but we are still too busy with other things, like volunteering for the US Fish & Wildlife banding birds of prey, or volunteering for Albany Township Historical Society, gardening and grandchildren! We would love to invite you to experience true old fashioned PA German farm hospitality and welcome you into the family!

Why they chose this property

Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse used to be a part of our 40 acre farm. After many years of educated local children then being converted into a private residence, we were fortunate to be able to purchase the schoolhouse in December of 2014 and add it back into our farm!

What makes this property unique

Private, unique, economical, quiet and very cozy and comfortable with outstanding views!
Equipped with your comfort in mind. You are welcomed with good old PA German hospitality. Great stop over for AT hikers or their family. Stop, rest up, do laundry and keep on trucking fully rested! Artists can paint to their heart's content from any spot on the property! Gorgeous scenic view, private walking paths. Nature right out your door.
