You can walk to the 18 hole Morrison Lake Golf Club at the end of the private drive, cast a line off the dock for bass and bluegills or enjoy water skiing on this 320 acre lake with an island. Only 25 minutes by expressway to the city of Grand Rapids and an international airport.

This home boasts hardwood floors downstairs and a heated whirlpool upstairs overlooking the lake. The large 2nd floor master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and sliding doors to a balcony. Fun on the lake!
We had a great stay in Morrison Lake. Rented a wave runner, fished every day and laid in the sun. Lots of games to choose from and Roku for movies at night. Thanks!

Lovely Lake house!
Great house for our family of 10! Right on the lake with beautiful views. Quiet neighborhood. Had a wonderful time for our week there and Joe was very hands on with any questions we had. We had an issue with the battery for the fishing boat and he came the next day and got a new one so the fishers in the family could head out to the lake! Joe also has a lot of stuff stocked so ask before you pack! Great house and location. Went to the Boulder Wild animal park one day highly recommend if you have kids in your group. My grandson loves it. Thanks Joe!

Lovely Morrison lake home
Very nice place for family vacation. Kitchen was well stocked with everything needed for baking and cooking. It was spotless and comfortable. Parking was limited and entry into the water was a bit difficult due to sea wall and constant wave action. Boats bumped against dock quite hard at times. The host gave us helpful tour of the place when we arrived. We had a wonderful week.

Multi generational family vacation
Joe’s house is perfect for our family’s lake vacation. With 4 generations there the space works out great and Joe has everything you need. Best part is the shaded yard for outdoor time and floating dock for the kids to swim to. Second time there and plan to return again next year. Perfect place for memory making.

Family Vacation at the Lake
Overall great time and experience at the lake. This could be a 5 star location with a little effort from the owners. The space was large but filled with a lot of the stuff, making it difficult to fully enjoy the space. The bedrooms are overfilled leaving little space for luggage, the kitchen also is overfilled leaving almost no room for food (we used the window ledge in dining area as a pantry). This house is also not super child friendly and required us removing/relocating breakables and some furniture.

Great Week
Joe was very wonderful to work with! He was willing to answer questions or give suggestions! The place was great for our big family! We had a wonderful week together. Our boys had amazing success fishing right off of the dock and shoreline! We are looking forward to going back next summer!!

Disappointing
Joe, You have a nice home. We were exciting about getting our family together for an enjoyable relaxing stay. Unfortunately, we had to spend a the first day and into the following days cleaning, removing spiders, making room for our family to stay with very minimal space for supplies. It was like you were living with us. We would like some reimbursement for the time and cost to get your place to be livable for the 2 weeks we stayed. We left the place much cleaner than when we arrived. I had left a message on August 20th but did not hear back from you.

Wonderful family stay!
Our family had a great time . Only issue was the upstairs was warm air conditioning needs to be revamped maybe another air conditioner for upstairs . Also, when checking in small boat we could not use since had a hole in it when we checked in the owner knew about it. We bailed the boat out many times this needs to be repaired and or removed. Other then that it was super !

Wonderful place to stay!
My family was in search of a place to vacation together, away from crowds and health risks. We wanted to be on the lake with a yard and plenty of space. This home met all of our needs - it is spacious, well taken care of, and in a beautiful area. Joe was very helpful answering any questions we had ahead of time, gave us a brief tour and orientation when we arrived, and responded to a couple of questions we had while staying there. They also had a little guide put together including area attractions, maps (including a route to take for a nice walk), and reminders on how to use some of the amenities (covered during orientation, such as how to restart the modem if the WiFi quits working). A couple of things to share for future renters: 1. Other reviews have commented on a lack of parking space. They’re not wrong, but we were able to park one car in the garage, and two in the driveway when we arranged the cars carefully. Joe had also pointed out a place we could have put a car across the street if necessary. 2. The water is filtered and we were assured it was good for drinking. A comment I want to leave is that it is also softened water. If that’s a flavor you’re used to and enjoy, then you won’t have any issues. We opted to buy bottled water for our stay. 3. The upstairs bathroom is accessible from the hallway as well as the master bedroom. This was a huge plus for us, since the 3 adults staying upstairs NOT in the master didn’t want to have to go downstairs in the middle of the night if necessary. 4. Other reviews also mentioned lack of space in the kitchen for putting food. This is accurate. The fridge and freezer are large, and were able to hold all of our cold items. But nearly everything else we brought was arranged on the counter, in front of the fireplace, and in the tubs we brought it in. The flip side of that is that the kitchen is well stocked with just about anything you could imagine needing. 5. There are a couple big trees out front to give shade to the yard even when the sun is directly overhead. There is also plenty of space in the yard that is in full sun if that’s what you’re looking for. Aside from these few notes, we had no complaints and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Our party consisted of myself and my partner; my teenage daughter and her friend; my brother, his partner, and their daughter; and our mother. Ages ranged from 2 - 69 and every one of us loved staying here!

Serene lakefront with nice swimming area
Everything in the listing was accurate, very well stocked with everything you could need. Only complaint would be that there wasn’t a single empty cabinet or shelf or drawer in the kitchen to put our own food and we had 13 people so we brought a lot and just had to sit it all on the bar and the hearth and the floor. Beds were comfy, owner was quick to respond to questions. The kids loved the paddle boat and kayaks. First floor bedroom only has a sofa sleeper which wasn’t clear on the listing but my mom was able to make it up the stairs once a day for bed ok, and we put kids on the sofa sleeper. Overall worth the price and very nice and peaceful private drive.

Family lake getaway
It was very nice. Lots of things available to use. We wished there was one more bedroom upstairs. Swimming raft was lots of fun! Owner was readily available if there was problems. Most of the house was fairly clean. Very nice, large, back yard with shade, sandbox, benches and firepit. Parking was difficult for 3 vehicles and a trailer. Owner was very helpful with this issue. It was nice that Wii and Netflix was available. Also it was nice to have a washer and dryer.

Beautiful home on serene lake 25 minutes from Grand Rapids
Spent 5 days at this very nice home in Saranac MI for our son's graduation at Calvin. Short ride to Calvin so definitely an easy ride 3 BDRMS with a TV room and good size living room with Wii, (our family had a blast with it) Weather was not great so no chance to enjoy lake First night some animal was killed by another animal right outside our window and that was awful, but it is what it is Joe the owner was fantastic to work with and made sure our stay was an excellent one. Parking is limited but not a big issue Terrific time

Everything we could have dreamed of and more!
My husband and I rented out the Lake House for our wedding ceremony and for our family getaway week. We had a few family members staying for the week and a larger number of guests coming for the ceremony. It was by far one of the best experiences we could have ever had. The owners were friendly and absolutely accommodating. The property was clean and organized. They answered all of our questions promptly and their listing of amenities was spot on - not to mention a few other amazing aspects of the house that you would have to really see to believe. To be honest we had a hotel room at the Amway Grand the night of the wedding and were happy to be "home" to the Lake House the next day because it was so much more comfortable and relaxing. The master bedroom, bathroom and living room windows overlooking the lake gave us a breathtaking view every morning of the sunrise, blue herons, and that calm and tranquil mist over the water. Picture perfect. The afternoons were sun filled with swimming, boating, grilling, and games. Our evenings concluded with starlit views from the dock and smore's and wine with friends around the fire pit. We would recommend this property to any family gathering - especially an intimate wedding ceremony. We were married between the two large trees on the water and we were able to very comfortably fit 65+ chairs for our ceremony guests in the yard with plenty of room. This was the perfect setting for it. We can't wait to book for future anniversaries!

Highly Recommend!
We returned to Lake Morrison this summer after a 5 year absence. Five years ago the grand kids were 2,3,4,5 and now 7,8,9,10. I wondered if it would be as good a fit. No need to worry - it was perfect. It is a house for all ages to enjoy. The owners are wonderful and right there if you need anything. They are also very generous in allowing us the use of their boats, toys, fishing gear, etc. It was a wonderful week and now all i hear from the grand kids is "when can we go back to the lake?"

house on a nice lake
Our 3-generation vacation went very well. There was something for everyone to do, and it is close to the airport. Kids enjoyed swimming and the raft, plus water skiing. The house had plenty of space for all of us, as did the yard. Owners were very responsive to our needs and questions. We especially appreciated the book of directions for things in the cottage and the area, and the tour of the house given by the owner. We will be back.

Lake House
Had a great experience on Morrison Lake. The owner took us on a tour of the home when we arrived. The home had plenty of room for the four of us and also was great for entertaining large groups for dinner! The lake had a sand bottom and was shallow for the kids to swim in. We had fun on the paddleboat and went fishing on the motor boat a few times. Overall great experience and we would love to do it again!

Wonderful Home
The house was great! Had everything you could ever need. Owner greeted us and showed us around and was very accessible by phone for questions. Neighbors friendly. Watched the sun come up over the lake every morning. Grandkids had fun in the water; sandy bottom, shallow at shore. Had family dinner for 15 one evening, plenty of room. Made two runs to airport in Grand Rapids at rush hour. Short trip, very little traffic. Don’t miss Flat River Grill in Lowell. Free concert from the patio on the river. Check schedule. Would love to come back again!

Great cottage and wonderful hosts!
This cottage was a great place for our extended family to stay. A short drive from Grand Rapids made it convenient for everyone. The owners are so great-gave us a wonderful orientation to everything and even helped us carry our luggage in from the car! Lake is lovely, cottage is incredibly clean and neat. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need. Even though it rained a couple of days, there were activities in the cottage to keep everyone happy. Thanks so much for a great week!

Great Christmas "home away from home"
This Morrison Lake home was perfect for our family during the Christmas holiday! We enjoyed cooking, reading and just hanging out enjoying the beautiful view. The main floor den/bedroom worked perfectly for our Mom who couldn't do stairs. The house was incredibly equipped in kitchen and had plenty of towels, linens, and many current magazines. Biggest treat: A real Christmas tree all decorated!! Just one example of the thoughtful preparation for our visit! While power out due to ice storm all around us, we were just fine here. Good location - not too far from Grand Rapids for groceries. Really enjoyable time for our 3 generation family to be together for the holidays! Highly recommended - would definitely rent again!

Wonderful Family Vacation
Beautiful home--better then description. Very clean and owners provided everything that you could possibly need including wood for the firepit. Was great that a washer and dryer were on premises. The sand box was wonderful for our grandchildren. Our son brought his boat and appreciated the boat lift. The kids loved the floating dock and the fishing--all of them caught fish--enough for a fish fry. On a cool day, we discovered Boulder Creek WIldlife Park in Alto Mi --maybe 15 minutes away--highly recommend it. We had Hudsonville ice cream in Saranac. Loved the camp fires and catching fireflies!!!

We spent Thanksgiving week in this home and had a fabulous time. The home was perfect for our family....very cozy and roomy. Anything we needed was provided from linens to firewood to every spice you could possibly need. The view of the lake was beautiful and very peaceful. We would definitely return if the opportunity arises.

About the host

Host profile image
I grew up spending my weekends at my grandfather's cottage on a inland Michigan lake near Grand Rapids. Fishing, boating, swimming, horseshoes and barbecuing were the order of the day. I always had a great time! I treated my friends, made new ones and got to know my cousins. Water and sun were the basic ingredients. I bought a lakefront home to pass along the legacy of good times begun by my grandfather and to share it with others as well.

What makes this property unique

Convenience, beauty and fun in the sun are a few of the benefits of this lakefront home. An all-sports lake with a public golf course and bass tournament quality fishing only 25 minutes by expressway to a major city provides guests with plenty of options. You need only bring your swimsuit and golf clubs because a fishing boat, paddle boat, diving raft and linens are all provided. A boat lift is available for open bow speedboats under 20 feet. In winter, returning to the wood burning fireplace and heated whirlpool overlooking the lake after x-country skiing or ice fishing makes for a perfect day.
