Luxurious property

Property was excellent beautifully furnished and well equipped. Location really pretty and quiet. Nearest village was 15 minute away and had everything we needed. Bryony cooked us a meal and it was fantastic. Enjoyed by all and well worth the money. Owner was very helpful in build up to our arrival. One negative aspect was the showering facilities. Had to be used in the bath which was difficult to get into and out. The pool was unfortunately not heated but this was not the fault of the owner but did take some of the pleasure out of using the pool. The pool also had a lot of dirt on the floor and this came to the surface when swimming. Overall we had a lovely week with our children and grandchildren.

I love good food, wine, books, gardening, music and photography. I live in Switzerland but visit France often, as does my son. It is our favourite place to be. I hope that you will love it as we do.

Why they chose this property

My husband and I looked originally in the Dordogne and only came to the Gers because my mother insisted it was worth a visit. We saw three properties and fell in love with this one. It was in a terrible state when we bought it and for years people visited asking if they could see the ruins of the Chateau! We spent many years lovingly creating the home and the garden we now all cherish. It has brought all the family so much joy, both in the summer and in the winter months

What makes this property unique

Chateau de Gaujac is a home and it has a lovely atmosphere. The rooms are big and generous with original features, luxurious curtains and furnishings. The orchard has marvellous views of the Pyrenees and the park sweeping views of the rolling hills and countryside. The pool is entirely enclosed and private. If you sit in the Park in the early evening or early in the morning you can sometimes see deer. Listen to the bird song and enjoy the peace. Relax
