At about 10,300 feet elevation, it's a great mountain getaway without the hustle bustle of a resort town! Lots to do in all seasons! Its a great base camp for all your mountain adventures!

Our mountain home is 1400 sq feet with three bedrooms and 2 full baths built in 2001. Its decorated with lodge type furniture and accents with new carpet. It has 7 beds and has all the modern comforts including Starlink Wi-Fi, smart TV for streaming, DVD player, microwave, dishwasher, wood burning stove, washer/dryer, propane gas grill, stainless steel appliances, all kitchen wares, nice linens, etc. Easily sleeps two families for a great getaway! SUMMER/FALL: Beautiful hiking, cycling and mountain biking trails around Leadville, Collegiate Peaks and Turquoise and Twin Lakes , and the surrounding areas. Close-by 14er's for hiking, fly fishing on the Arkansas, horseback riding, lake fishing, river rafting, biking, etc. Aspen is only 40 miles away (when Independence Pass is open), Vail 40 minutes and Summit County is only about 30 minutes away. Leadville has many sporting events and music and art festivals to enjoy. Our house is next to Empire Creek with beaver ponds for instant nature explorations and easy hikes.

WINTER: Great skiing- 10 miles from Ski Cooper, 25 miles from Copper Mountain, 40 miles from Vail. Over 9 ski areas within 40 miles! Leadville also has a great local sledding hill, outdoor ice skating rink, aquatic center, dog sledding, Mineral Belt trail & Mt Massive Golf Course for cross country skiing, ice fishing at Turquoise, Crystal or Twin Lakes, and tons of snowshoe trails on Tennessee Pass and surrounding areas. We also have great sledding on our road! Lots of fun for everyone! The roads to the house and Beaver Lakes Estates are plowed and maintained in the winter. Our driveway is also plowed. We recommend an all-wheel drive car or SUV in the winter as although the roads are plowed, they can be snow-packed!

Beaver Lakes Estates is a quiet mountain cabin community located the San Isabel National Forest about 6 miles south of Leadville and about 20 miles north of Buena Vista – 2+ hours from COS or DEN airports. We love our mountain house and use it regularly but want to share it with others too!

Note: No fishing or water access in the two private lakes in Beaver Lakes due to HOA rules. Close-by fishing outside our community in nearby Crystal Lake, Hayden Ponds, Twin Lakes, Turquoise Lake and more!

Ski vacation

We had a wonderful time on our ski vacation. The property was wonderful and had everything we needed. Knowing we had kids with us the owner left sleds at the house for them to enjoy. I would definitely stay again.

Beaver Lake Cabin

Great view and gorgeous location! Owner was very helpful! Well-stocked home and clean. One problem: the tap water was not drinkable or able to be used for cooking. We had to use bottled water and buy a filter for the kitchen faucet. Owner told us she drinks bottled water as well. Would have been nice to know. The water stained some items when we used the washer as well. Bathtubs were stained from water as well as washed.

Perfect Fit

The cabin was perfectly appointed for our group of skiers. The mud room was ideal! Hooks for coats, racks for skis and wonderful individual cubies for each person. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed to cook nightly meals for the week …pans of all sizes!! The humidifiers in each bedroom where greatly appreciated.

A wonderful home for a family to enjoy outside of Leadville!

The cabin is such a fun and beautiful place to be. The views are awesome, changing throughout the day and night; don't miss the stars! It's a cozy setting with great decor collected by the owners; the living room lends itself to games and relaxing; the dining room, bedrooms and kitchen are laid out well for a family and very user-friendly. Snowshoeing around the cabin, in the mountains and up the Independence Pass road (when it is closed) were what we wanted and the Leadville swimming pool is great for kids!! Khristine was very helpful when we had questions...so glad we chose this spot !

A peaceful setting just far enough from the city

This cabin has good access, and is just far enough from Leadville to give it a country feel. You can follow the access road up from Beaver Estates and be in the old mining areas in no time. It has great access to fly fishing and hiking. We did Mt Elbert during our stay. We look forward to staying here again. Thanks!

Great house in the high rockies

We really enjoyed our stay! The house was spacious with 3 nice size bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a large laundry room. There is a nice deck, well stocked kitchen, and dish TV. The area is beautiful and very quiet. We had 6 six adults and had plenty of room.

Wow! A Wonderful Vacation Location!!

Thank you!! This is indeed a beautiful mountain cabin with fantastic views! A perfect home-away get-away location and super comfortable and cozy cabin. The guys had a great four days of boarding at Copper Mountain and my dog and I had a marvelously relaxing and very refreshing time enjoying the beauty of Colorado. Thank you SO MUCH for wonderfully fitting in our last-minute scheduling, the perfect accomodations, communication...and the helpful cabin notebook of information too!! (I hope it did help out a bit that we did a few bedding laundry loads prior to checking out :-) ! ) Our first VRBO experience has been an excellent one thanks to you - and I definately hope you'll have us again!!

Very nice property-the pictures don't do it justice. The house is comfortable and has everything you need. The view off the deck of the mountains across the valley is spectacular. A great place to spend a week. You will love this place-FIVE stars

Loved our home away from home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin while participating in the Leadville Race Series. It was a nice, quiet time away from our normal busy schedules. Everything was as described - no surprises. Our 9 and 11 year old really loved it and are eager to return. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your warm, inviting home!

Great place for a family to reconnect with each other and nature!

We stayed for two wonderful weeks and loved every minute of it! The cabin is phenomenal as is the view! The Beaver Lake area is quite, no noise neighbors, and very friendly. We watched a deer cross between us and the next cabin as she settled in for the night behind some sagebrush. The cabin was fully stocked with things that you would never think you need until you needed them, and very clean. It was a "Home" just perfect for the extended time frame of our vacation. We enjoyed the DVD player and Satelite TV while at the cabin. The cards and board games came in handy with a 6 yr old. We also enjoyed the campfire pit on the patio, hot dogs and smores for everyone! There was plenty of rooms, we had the girls in one room, and the boy in the other. Everyone's bed was comfortable and cozy. The Master bedroom was beautiful, the owner has wonderful decorating tastes. We were just far enough away from Leadville to be out of the rush of daily and yearly activities (bicycle tours were passing through) but close enough to run to town for whatever you need. We enjoyed the local scene, and went home to the peace and quite. With Turquoise Lake, all the museums in Leadville, a city park, a train ride into the mountains, and fun trails to walk, drive or ride, the area is wonderful for all ages. We fished at Crystal Lake, and never came back empty handed. We went on day trips to Denver and Glenwood Springs with lots to sightsee on the way. Both towns are close enough to make the drive, then enjoy a days activity and be back to the cabin before nightfall during the longer summer days. I am hoping to get back again. This was a great place for a family vacation!

Absolutely Incredible !

This place was phenomenal ! We stayed for 4 nights and are so glad we picked it. The pictures do not do justice to the breathtaking panorama that surrounds the cabin...not even close. We were there when all the aspens were turning and our most common phrase was "Wow...look at that!". Just the drive up the long gravel/dirt road that leads into the valley where the cabin sits was incredible in itself. The road is very well maintained and suitable for all vehicles. And once you get to the cabin...it just keeps getting better. There are 2 beautiful lakes with beaver dams in them right in the "subdivision". Literally right next to the cabin is a babbling brook meandering through a beautiful meadow that has beaver dams all through it. It has a nice bench on a small hill overlooking the stream and we had coffee there every morning to start our day. There is a road (County road 52) that does probably an 8 mile or so loop through the mountains surrounding the cabin...then ends back up on Beaver Lakes Estates property. This road is not required to get to the cabin...but it's a GREAT day or half day trip through the area surrounding the cabin. It's an unimproved road you'll need a 4 wheel drive or a 4 wheeler to navigate...which is just what we wanted. Hiking opportunities abound ! We spent almost a whole day between the 4 wheeler and hiking...just exploring on or near the county road. Breathtaking scenery all the way. There is one ridge that has an incredible view of the entire valley. You can stand on the ridge and see the cabin way off in the distance in the valley. We threw a couple of chairs in the back of the truck and had lunch on this ridge. Plus there are a million other things to do by day trips or half day trips all within close proximity to the cabin....Arkansas River headwaters...Turquoise Lake...Twin Lakes...Haggerman Pass...it just goes on and on. Leadville has an awesome antique store we spent hours in. The cabin itself is well furnished and very comfortable....well stocked with everything you need. It's in the perfect setting. There are other cabins/houses around...close enough that you don't feel totally isolated...but far enough to give you all the seclusion and privacy you want if you choose. All in all...this place was a grand slam. I would definitely recommend it. You won't regret it!

We built this house in 2001 to enjoy the Colorado lifestyle on weekends. We live in Colorado Springs and enjoy hiking, fishing, skiing, and biking with our family in the beautiful central Rockies on weekends. We have two children and love this place!

Why they chose this property

The cabin is located in the Beaver Lakes Estates cabin community of about 100 homes just south of Leadville. Just a little off the beaten path, you'll enjoy our quiet community with breathtaking views of the Collegiate Peaks while still being close to town and other mountain adventures .
