About this property

Ca' Del Monastero 8 Collection

Ca’ Del Monastero 8

Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero - a fine antique residence comprising 9 superbly restored apartments of varying size (including Ca’ Del Monastero 8 - see its dedicated section below) situated in what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà (one of the oldest in Venice), moments from the Grand Canal in the district of Santa Croce.

Enjoying an atmosphere of calm serenity in what must surely be one of Venice’s most evocative and unspoilt neighbourhoods - indeed a step back in time - the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and beautifully presented accommodation for small and medium size parties or up to 38 guests if taken together.*

No expense has been spared in its recent remodelling…

Carefully co-ordinated contemporary furnishings and soft neutral colours meld seamlessly against a traditional backdrop of polished red marble and/or traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring, while stylish high-spec fittings and attractive finishes, such as textured resin walls and luxurious feature wall coverings, give a fresh and fashionable twist to the building’s ancient framework.

Enhanced by a range of up-to-date facilities as demanded by today’s savvy traveller (including air-conditioning***, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities), the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments are perfectly placed for communing with the true and heart and soul of the city and for visiting all that Venice has to offer while providing all the comforts of modern city living.

Ca’ Del Monastero 8

Neat, petite, convenient and sweet! – A brand new addition to the Ca’ Del Monastero residence, offering 1 bedroom/1 bathroom plus a shared furnished courtyard**

Situated to the rear of the building with views over the ‘Salizada’ to the pretty walled rear garden of Venice’s Natural History Museum at the Fondaco Dei Turchi, the apartment sleeps 2 in comfort on the 2nd floor reached by stairs.

Accessed via an entrance on the Salizada below (note the plaque on the wall dedicated to Don Luigi Caburlotto who, in this house in 1850, founded the religious ‘Institute of the Daughters of San Giuseppe’), the apartment comprises a cosy main sitting room decorated in restful coffee colours leading to a well-equipped and fully-fitted kitchen/dining room, while at the opposite end of the apartment lies the well-proportioned bedroom with double bed and plenty of storage, and to its side, the apartment’s modern bathroom with shower.

And last but not least, access on the ground floor to the shared internal furnished courtyard – a little haven of calm set away from the world!

* Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer seven other apartments within this residence: Ca’ Del Monastero 1, Ca’ Del Monastero 2, Ca’ Del Monastero 3, Ca’ Del Monastero 4, Ca’ Del Monastero 5,Ca’ Del Monastero 6, Ca’ Del Monastero 7, Ca’ Del Monastero 9.

** Please note that the furnished internal courtyard is shared with guests of Ca’ Del Monastero 5

Our Comment

Style, creature comforts and history combined, in an area brimming with local flavour.

Within easy walking distance of Venice’s Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma if travelling light, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal for hassle-free travel around the city.

And so much to see and do right on your doorstep…

Moments to Campo San Giacomo Dell’ Orio - one of Venice’s most charming ‘away from the crowds’ tree-filled squares and home to a well-stocked Coop supermarket and nearby local shops - and a short walk to a Conad supermarket on the Rio Marin canal.

Close to a great variety of cafes, bars and eateries including All’ Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta to name but a few, and within minutes of the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo at San Stae (Museum of the History of Fabrics, Costumes and Perfumes) and the Fondazione Prada at Ca’ Corner Della Regina.

A leisurely stroll to the 14th Century Franciscan Church of the Frari, (home to Canova's extraordinary triangular marble tomb and Titian's legendary masterpiece, the 'Assumption'), the Scuola Grande di San Rocco with its amazing Tintoretto’s, the vast palazzo-lined Campo San Polo plus the culinary delights and buzz of the Rialto.

Sonst wirklich gut ausgestattet.

Venice Views

The location was reasonably good. Close to main attractions without being too close. Quiet with easy access to water taxi locations, grocery and restaurants. Could use a motion light over door as street is dark at night making it hard to access key. The lobby could use same as very dark coming in. The terrace was locked and not accessible during our stay, which was one of the more attractive features in the pictures. Overall the apartment was excellent with plenty of space and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen was also well appointed.

A Quiet Space Away from Crowds

This wonderful pied-à-terre has everything one might need and more for a short or long stay in Venezia. Light and airy, the apartment is also extremely quiet. The large kitchen was well-stocked and the bed and linens were extremely comfortable. I cannot recommend the area enoughnot far from attractions, Santa Croce has a beautiful series of intimate piazze with trees. Can't wait to return soon!

Venezia Apartment

This place had pretty much everything we needed for a 2-night stay in Venezia. It was somewhat difficult to find, but it was well equipped and comfortable. Grocery store was a few minutes walk away. The washer and dryer were really nice to have since our luggage was lost by the airline. The only complaint I have is that I was charged an extra 150 euros for late check in. My flight had been rebooked and we came in at 2:30am. I found this to be an extremely steep late check in fee.

Three days in Venice

Great quiet neighborhood, the staff was very helpful getting a water taxi to the airport and explaining everything in the apartment. It is 4 flights up so be ready for steps but easy. Comfortable bedding. Never quite figured out how to operate the stove but we really didn't need it. Induction top.

Great experience

The customer service and communication were excellent. It was comforting to be contacted proactively to check in. They were particularly patient and accommodating with our travel delays. Check out was a breeze. The accommodations were very comfortable and well appointed. Everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Would definitely use Views on Venice again. Not a con, but just a note for folks considering this unit. This unit is on the top floor. So be prepared to haul your luggage up a couple of flights of stairs.

Nice apartment to explore Venice

Sunny and cozy apartment. Good range of kitchen and bathroom facilities. Quiet neighborhood, good location near vaporetto stop. Serena made an extra effort to pick us up from the vaporetto stop and show us around. The photo doesn't show the apartment.

About the host

Hosted by Views On Venice

Host profile image
Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice.
The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel.
Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite.
The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.
